I appreciate that they keep overhead low to maintain the best prices in the area! They DO spend money on the latest, most advanced equipment for the various tests that are the hallmark of a thorough eye exam. The doctor was personable and genuine in addition to being the consummate professional. The receptionists were outstanding and ran the office with respectful consideration towards fellow staff to ensure the customers an optimal experience. And optimal it was! On the eyeglass side of the store, I was greeted by James and Carribean who offered their expert opinions on what style looked best for my face shape. They too, were super pleasant and knew their stuff! My new glasses were ready in two days. I was allowed to bring my frames, and they only charged me for the lenses and nothing more. They hit a home run at the first fitting. There's a reason that they have been established in the same office space all of these years. Long before Yelp, Pal has withstood the test of time because of their fine reputation amongst those of us in the area who have shared our experiences via word of mouth in our community over the years. Excellence in care and old-school charm reign supreme at Pal Optical.

I was treated badly by the front desk, person, and the person who took me back to have my eyes examined. The front desk woman with the long dark hair told me well. We don't have your results so you will have it done. The one who took me back to have the eye exam questioned me on why I didn't have my paper signed, and when I explained to her that I had pulled up results from an eye test that I had done that I was going to show the doctor. I was told that if I didn't have the test done, she would be dilating me. Now mind you, I drove myself, so I was curious to how she was going to dilate me and why she said it in such a nasty way. But because I don't like conflict, I said do what you have to do when she was done. I went back to the room and waited for the doctor. I showed the doctor the results. She confirmed that I had that test done. I wasn't apologized too. I told her what her employees had done and said to me and that they were rude to me. It was basically just looked over. my point is this is a test that would have caused me an additional $40 and I felt that the way I was treated was unprofessional. Why are you trying to force me to pay for a test that I told you that I think I had already taken and I was looking to show it to you?! The only reason why this place even gets two stars is because of the woman that checked me out. She was very sweet very pleasant and knew how to talk to a patient. I'm not hard to get along with. I do not cause a scene. I do not raise my voice, but I do expect respect. And I don't feel that's too much to ask for considering I'm paying you to do a job for me. Basically, I walked out without getting glasses from there because I would rather have my money spent somewhere else where I'm treated better.

We had an external prescription, so my son did not have to get an eye exam. Today, we decided to get an eye exam since his prescription was close to expiring. Unfortunately, the experience was not ideal and, to say the least, not a positive experience. Dr. Wallace Guerrant's bedside manner left much to be desired. From the very beginning of the appointment, it was an awkward exchange of frustrations on his part. He was frustrated because some of the equipment was not suited for a smaller child and he kept requesting my son move a certain way or sit a certain way to accommodate the equipment instead of the equipment accommodating my son. He got extremely irritated because he was asking my son to look at a mirror behind him while he was shining a light in his eyes. You must know how to be patient with children because it can be easier to get confused. He lacked the patience that would be expected of a physician working with children. As a Mom, it was clear that his frustration were impacting my son and that is a NO GO, for me. After the unpleasant experience I chose not to schedule my eye exam with him. The other staff, like Karen, made the rest of the interaction much better. We won't ever utilize the optometrist for an exam ago.
