I made a mistake and scheduled an eye exam appointment here and went to a different location. So I was late for my appointment but they accommodated me without any issue. After initial check-in, I went to the back for the pre-tests by the technician. Again, no wait. I went through 5 different hi-tech apparatuses, streamline. Basically I just keep rolling my chairs to the right and put my chin on each. I was again back in the waiting area in the back. Soon I was summoned into the exam room for Teladoc. The remote technician evaluated my vision correction. She was friendly and patient. Then I waited for the doctor. This was my only sizable wait but even that was only about 10 minutes. Dr. Barry went over my tests. Redid some of the vision corrections, and correctly pointed out I had a floater in the right eye! Finally, I went back to the front where a staff printed out my paperwork and took my old eyeglasses to be updated. I was told I get to have tint for free. Sweet! It took over 25 min for an actual person to pick up the phone. AI answers the phones and can only help with specific things, then wants to hand up on you if you don't say exactly the right thing next. Horrible AI customer service, wish they could afford to have a real person answer the phone and talk to you. AI kept telling me I needed to come into the store for more assistance. Do NOT come here if you want your pupillary distance!! Sadly this place has gone downhill and my visit today will be my last. I will look for somewhere nicer for my next exam. The company is clearly trying to squeeze every last drop of money out of its "patients". I have been a patient here since I was a child but I will not be coming back. I hope the lack of ethics is exposed and more people stop opening up their wallets to this place. Here are the ethical issues I see with this company: 1. As others have commented, the company refuses to give patients their pupillary distance (PD) which is part of their medical record and is required for ordering glasses online. This was never a problem before. I have been ordering my glasses online for years and Visionworks has always given me my PD. Joke is on them though. I have my PD already so I will have no issues ordering from Zenni, a company that doesn't overcharge for glasses like Visionworks. While it is not legally required for optometrists to give you your PD in the state of PA, the FTC does encourage optometrists to do so as it is not ethical to withhold information required for patients to shop around and find the best price AFTER paying for an exam. The "professional" at the front desk was rude and even said "I'm actually not sorry" after refusing me access to my own medical record as I was walking out the door. What did I expect though? Trash companies beget trash customer service. 2. I am 32 years old with virtually no health issues and they are trying to pressure me into getting a $35 retinal scan not covered by insurance. Doctors should not be pressing upsells on their patients. 3. Most of the staff seemed sick and the place felt grungy. That's not how we protect our patients' health. Today was an eye opening experience for me, no pun intended. I would not recommend this place. Personally I will be searching for a doctor with higher ratings on Yelp and that is not a money-hungry fast food chain equivalent of an eye doctor. read more

Needed an eye exam during these Covid-19 times. Scheduled it online without having to talk to anyone. Someone called me the day before to confirm my insurance, which I appreciate them checking ahead of time. On arrival they took my temperature and quickly got me in with Dr. Tran. Nice gentleman, checked my prescription made adjustment without any delays. Customer service over all was great and I will be back next year for the yearly contact exam. read more

I have been visiting this location for years. I take my entire family in for our annual eye exam and order our glasses online through another retailer. Vision works (along with so many others) are at least five times more expensive than online. I have been doing this for so long that I am aware that I need our pupillary distance. My daughter and I were seen three weeks ago and the Dr provided it. My son was seen over the weekend and now they are refusing to give me the distance. I cannot believe that Vision works would risk my twelve year old's eye health for profit! They are aware that we are buying glasses elsewhere and would rather lose customers instead of providing needed information. It is a shame but I am leaving this practice due their greed. read more

this place is a rip off they advertise buy one pair and get one for half price, but that's only if you don't use your insurance. they made my glasses three times before they had both lenses tinted, not to mention I told them I did not want them tinted. I didn't know I got changed for the tint and for anti -reflective coating which I also said I don't want, until till I got the paper work from my insurance company. i don't recommend this place. read more

Thier website is very nice looking but not at all user friendly. If I have glasses measurements that I need to be finding there is no option to search by those measures and while they have three sizes you can show by there is nothing more refined about this ability to search for frames that you want. read more

I purchased my first pair of prescription sunglasses from Visionworks. Picked out frames and lenses that I thought I liked, later decided I didn't care for them. Spoke to Krystie, the General Manager and she explained the 30 day guarantee if I didn't like them I could chose another pair. I returned to find another pair that would suit me better. Krystie helped me decide what looked best on me, also showed me different lens options. Krystie took time to explain the lens and benefits. Krystie went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied. We have been going here for 10+ years. Today my wife and I both had appointments. We had it in our calendar an hour later than they had it. The girl at the front desk said she would squeeze us in. Not sure if it was our mistake or theirs, but she did what she could to make it right. We went down the hallway and sat in the waiting area. The girl that was in the contact room sighed loudly said to another patient " We just had people come in late and still expect to be seen" . If you have been here you know the close quarters.. I am currently standing in Vision Works as we speak and can I just say that my boyfriend and I felt as tho the air was tense. The woman at the front desk sounded like she did not want to help us or was annoyed to be helping us. She was still annoyed while helping us. When we walked in, no one greeted us, we greeted them. Her tone was not friendly and very aggressive. As we walked around looking for frames, its like no one was nice and and avoided eye contact with us. My boyfriend saw that they were hiring and asked if they were hiring immediately. The answer he got just felt like he was being judged for the way he looked and it was very rude honestly. All three woman in front were not welcoming at all. As soon as one woman came out I believe her name is Shaun? the atmosphere of the room changed. She greeted everyone in the room and asked if anyone need help which we appreciated. All of the other employees followed her lead and suddenly became more upbeat and friendly, and wanted to engage with us. I just want to say we felt very uncomfortable doing business here. The staff is very rude and judgmental. They gave off the vibe that they treat others that look different than they do differently. Absolutely terrible. I had waited at the service desk about five minutes until someone was able to help me. Which is understandable due to staffing shortages I'm assuming. However, within that time frame I was not acknowledged at all. Not even "hello we'll be with you in a moment" the staff just glanced in my direction and kept helping their customers. When I finally finished up to be able to see the doctor he was late to my appointment and came in the exam room with a drink. Which was disturbing because I can only assume he was late to my appointment to get that drink. The lack of concern for anyone else's time was pretty evident. He also failed to wash his hands or apply hand sanitizer before starting our exam. The exam was about five minutes which most of it was spent with the doctor going over my eye pictures. As a new patient I thought the exam would be a little more thorough. I've been wearing corrective lenses for 14 years and have never had an eye exam be that rushed or quick. When I make it to the front desk I'm told that my exam was only for glasses. Which leaves me in utter confusion because I booked an appointment for contacts. The manager looks again and tells me it was for contacts, like I previously stated, so I had to go back to be examined further. The tone of the person at the front desk was as if it was my fault the staff didn't do their jobs to ensure my appointment was correct. After that is finished I come back out and ask if I can get complimentary contact lenses case and contact solution. She looks at me and responds in confusion as if what I asked for was insane. I have been wearing contacts for 7 years and not once been refused a case to put them in and some solution in case I have to take them out and clean them at any point during my trial, until my visit at the camp hill vision works. The entire appointment was a disaster and extreme disappointment. I cannot see out of the prescription they gave me, like I stated to the doctor SEVERAL TIMES, and all customer service was able to do is call the store and request me to have a re-examination. Had an appointment today for my daughter, and we had a problem with her insurance getting the authorization for her glasses. The 2 girls that helped me were wonderful, Shay & Krystie. I stopped in the store to return a $25 unused accessory today and was told that only the Gen Mgr can do a return, and she is not in the store today. I asked to confirm, "There is nobody here right now, who can complete a return?" and was told, no, only the Gen Mgr and she won't be in until Monday (today is a Saturday). IF that truly is the case, then this should be noted on the website, receipt, and perhaps the GM's schedule should be posted, to avoid future issues. Some people's time is valuable and this is an inconvenience. I was also told there is no time limit on returns, I hope this is the case... there is nothing on the receipt to indicate otherwise.
