I had the privilege of attending an event at VisionLoft Events, a three-location Indiana (technically, I think Stutz is considered one location that includes event center/Stutz Car Museum) center weaving together strong personality, high-tech capabilities, and a nice personalization of atmosphere. Started by Julie and Dan Johnston, VisionLoft is a beautiful space that is ideal for business events, wedding receptions, and a number of other special events that would benefit from a comfortable atmosphere and strong tech (You'd be amazed how hard that combination is to find). This is located in downtown Indy, of course, and is adjacent to Wheeler Mission (It works. Let your biases go.). You enter through a two-sided glass doorway. There's a beautiful fireplace and bar area, wood floors, a greenery area, modern seating (clear, quietly dignified), and as someone who was a speaker during the event I liked that I didn't have to go up on a stage. VisionLoft utilizes several caterers as options including some right from Mass Avenue. The event I attended utilizes Nameless Catering, a caterer I've been familiar with and a caterer I've long appreciated. People were friendly, the atmosphere was comfortable, and service was strong throughout. Parking can be along nearby streets or parking garages (it's all paid). For those getting married in nearby churches or on Monument Circle, this would be an amazing reception option. I did not try the restrooms, though they are labeled as accessible and there's an obvious effort at accessibility at both front and back entrances (odds are the back entrance is ramped also for the caterers). Where I feel obligated to drop what would definitely be a 5-star review is in that area of accessibility. Even upon arrival (before the crowd), moving around was a tad difficult given the table layout. Once people arrived? It was close to impossible - this created the inability to really enjoy the food (or even get to it) and the bar. By the end of the event, I was starved and hit Mass Avenue (fortunately, a close journey of 1-2 blocks). As someone who deals with accessibility on a daily basis, I saw easy tweaks that could have been done to ensure everyone could enjoy the space. It seems like the intention was there, however, in terms of accessibility it definitely fell a bit short (I don't have this experience at Stutz, by the way. It's clear this company cares about access because they went way above and beyond at Stutz). Overall, this is a beautiful space that I definitely recommend. The atmosphere is modern yet also personal and and warm. The high-tech features are great. The acoustics worked quite well for speakers. The proximity to major downtown attractions is for sure awesome. I would definitely return, however, I might shy away from a sold-out or I might simply encourage some advanced planning to improve accessibility. read more

An absolutely stunning co-working space in Indy. It's stylish, comfortable (with lots of formal tables as well as more informal couches and even a cozy fireplace area near a whiteboard wall, making brainstorming fun), and has plenty of presentation equipment, including high tech options with lots of touch screens and such. Staff as friendly and helpful with all the tech and more to boot! Bathrooms were tidy, coffee was plentiful as were sodas and waters throughout the day, and it's walkable to the City Market which makes taking a tasty lunch break easy to do. Not just a work space either. I could see this place being the perfect location for a lovely cocktail party or catered gathering as well. read more

This is a beautiful venue space! I came here for a networking event and loved the atmosphere (industrial/open). There are a lot of different seating options within the venue space too. Little touches like the string lights, the fire place, and the plants make it feel very warm and welcoming. The AV system worked well for the presentation, and the bar was a great thing to have on site! Beer, wine, and mixed drinks (no Mai Tais though). It's also half a block off of Mass Ave near The Tap, The Eagle, Bakersfield, etc. so the party can continue after your event! read more

Why this venue is amazing: - The decor/design is GORGEOUS. With a black and white tile fireplace and bar, wood floors, beautiful green plants on the back wall, modern clear chairs and stylish furniture, I wanted to simply move into this space. It's incredibly decorated. - It's super tech-savvy. The owner also designed tech classrooms at IU and therefore incorporated fun, techy elements into the space: a big wall that allows guests to write on it, a large screen where guests can post their photos and then write on the wall, move photos around with their hands, and interact with them, and then projectors for event photos or corporate logos/info. - The owners are incredible and so fun/easy to work with. They're super professional, smart and efficient, with the bonus that you'll want to be friends with them after. - This venue is connected to some of the coolest local bizs in Indy. They have a way of attracting them and will therefore make it easy for you to bring them in on your event too. For example, this adorable mini cupcake biz who's black and white cupcakes are super classy and delicious, a great local caterer, fun designers, a classy local balloon decoration company (they make gorgeous hangings and frames out of balloons and flowers), and more. - It's the perfect size. Not too large, but big enough to fit a decent crowd. Not too small that you feel that the space overwhelms you. We had a group of 120 (unseated- more cocktail style) in here and it felt perfect. Are you convinced yet?! Our event at this venue exceeded expectations and is one that I would definitely re-visit for another event. That says a lot!! They're also located right off Mass Ave, which makes it a super conveniently-located venue. read more

So.darned.grateful! That's how I feel after working with the VisionLoft family. They were so incredibly helpful and welcoming throughout our entire process. I had the pleasure of bringing my Yelp Midwest team for a day of planning at VisionLoft. The tech capabilities and downtown location made this an ideal spot to host the group. Our crew was made up by ten people but the space can easily accommodate 100+ seated. I loved that there were plentiful bathrooms, Tinker coffee and water on site and several types of seating areas and types available. The variety of seating allowed us to move around and mix up the setting throughout the day. For reference, VisionLoft is conveniently located around the corner from Mass Ave and less than two blocks from City Market. Highly recommend for your next meeting or event. VisionLoft was PERFECT for a day of collaborating with about 10 of my coworkers. And it could have easily been perfect as well for a much larger group of folks. That's kind of the beauty of it -- this space has a definite stylistic point of view, but it can transition to fit several event types and needs. Like I said, we used it for a day of working together. The tech capabilities really helped with that. We were able to set up tables around some of the screens that line the space, and use those screens for presentations. When we were feeling the need for a change of space, we relocated to couches by the front windows, which also had a large screen we could continue to present on. VisionLoft stocked plenty of Tinker Coffee, as well as water and soda. It was also great about hosting Tinker Coffee when they came in during the morning for a special coffee cupping class. There is also a bar that I expect would have been great had we needed the space more for celebrating than working. And along with being functional, the space was beautiful, with living plant walls, modern lights, exposed brick, fireplace and more. VisionLoft isn't huge, but they have designed the space well to accommodate so much. read more

Bravo, bravo! Vision Lofts was a wonderful place for my coworkers and I to get sh*t done. We had the space to ourselves for our annual planning summit and while there were only about 10 of us, you could definitely host an epic party of just about any kind, in this lovely space. My brain went wild thinking of fun things to do here. It was big and open, had tons of natural light, the bathrooms were clean and fabulous, I loved the plant wall towards the back, they had coffee available all throughout the day and heck, there was even a fireplace! We spent the majority of our time in the center of the building watching presentations, but they even had couches and cozy corners scattered around. When we needed go get up to stretch our legs, we could! Additionally, the staff was really helpful when need be, and they had tons of televisions around. Overall, they went above and beyond to make our group feel welcome. I'd highly recommend. read more

Vintage space with modern touches in the heart of downtown. Visited VisionLoft during an open house and came away impressed with the space. It used to be a law office and was renovated to become an event venue. The layout is logical, with main space in the center and small group spaces with furniture toward the front. The bar is situated toward the back corner which should ease people traffic. A big selling point of VisionLoft is their technology capabilities. They have several projection screens that can handle presentations or photo streams. There are portable, touch screen stations that can be transported throughout the venue. These should come in handy for meetings and group discussions. There were a number of caterers at the open house. The food options were solid and represent a nice variety. Wine and beer were available and I am pretty sure they can do a full bar for an event. VisionLoft should be a good choice if a downtown location is what you are looking for. It's more of a mid-size venue so it depends on the number of attendees you have. I am not sure what the parking situation is, but perhaps something can be arranged for an event. read more

I experienced a day here as part of a work conference and really enjoyed the artsy space. Lots of exposed brick and so many TVs and technological options to plug into - the space seemed like it was designed for high tech conferences as well as various art parties of sorts with the beautiful setup. The kitchen + bar were seamless and during the evening time, can serve as a wonderful place to serve drinks. We spent most of our time around the tables, but eventually moved to a little nook/couch in the room to shake things up and everything was cozy. For such a huge open space, it was only slightly chill as I'm sure the room can be challenging to heat uniformly. Overall, I'd highly recommend VisionLofts for an event or a work conference! read more

Spaces like these can be boring -- and that's a part of the appeal, right? They are blank slates to be transformed into what one needs. That's a plus when it comes to event spaces. I, though, wasn't here for an event and you know what? VisionLoft acquits itself, nicely, as a meeting place. See? There's that versatility. I fully acknowledge that my experience with VisionLoft is, probably, outside the norm. I'm guessing most people come here to party and with the central location, interesting accents, gorgeous bar, and tech capabilities, that makes a lot of sense. I was here to make - and watch - presentations. Not as sexy as tipping back cocktails in my finest attire but can't be superman at all times. Rather than cocktails, I had my fill of water, coffee and/or soda. Rather than lounge seating, I parked it at a comfortable table and leaned back in my ergonomic chair. When I tired of that, I had couches and other plush seating available to me. Rather than a sound system meant to make me move, I had a tech system that seamlessly met all my big screen needs. Plus, clean bathrooms, high ceilings, good light, and a comfortable temperature. If VisionLoft can come through on something outside of its wheelhouse, I'm betting that it's a champ when it comes to being on brand. Thanks for the re-intro to Indy, VisionLoft. read more

What a cool space! From the moment you open the door, you're greeted by a simple but warm and contemporary atmosphere. The exposed brick and open feel made for a great place to host a productive work outing. Need to get creative? VisionLoft had tons of awesome technology to help put their creative thoughts on screens and bring them to life! from projectors to user-friendly touch-screen techy elements, I was definitely blown away. Even better, the space is super versatile. You could host anything from a super productive work summit, to a snazzy party- I could think of a plethora of awesome events you could host in the space. Such a cool, unique, tech savvy space to host any event! The interior walls are mostly exposed brick with concrete floors and exposed black ceilings make for a very modern but warm feel. There's a cute black and white tiled bar in the back corner as well as a shelving unit full of live plants in the very back to warm up the place. There are also a few alcoves with a fireplace and couches for seating in a more intimate setting close to the front. The interactive board is one of the coolest parts. There is a URL to go to in your web browser and then a code they give you (to make sure you post to the right board) and you can upload pictures and comments to to the screen. Once they're on the screen there is a pen/marker to use that you can drag and drop the comments, adjust size, rotate, type, and even free text on the screen. It make for a really cool picture collage but I'm sure the software would easily transfer for business purposes to make a more interactive meeting. Overall I definitely see this as a new option for wedding receptions, happy hours, executive dinners for businesses, or anything else that you need a rented space for! read more

My employer had a work event here. The inside is beautiful, perfect mix of old and new, refurbished look. Our group had 100-200 people so they were able to accommodate a large group. They had a bar available. We had a champagne toast to end 2019 and to start 2020, but aside from that I am unsure of all they have to offer. Had no idea this event hall was here and it was very nice! What a gorgeous space! We were there for a work conference with our 10-12 person regional team so we had quite a bit of space to use for the day. As event planners, I think we all were brimming with ideas on the types of events we'd host here if this spot was in our city so Indy, take advantage! The loft vibe is there with lots of exposed brick and high ceilings in this open format space. Perfect for intimate weddings, receptions, birthday parties, team meetings, small conferences, and so much more. Whatever you can think of, I'm sure the space can be molded to your vision (eh, get it...). There were a couple folks on staff who were helpful with the occasional questions and tech things that came up, as they always do. They're equipped with multiple screens and projectors for presentations, which is primarily what we were there for all day. There was a bar and several different nooks and seating areas, including fireplaces, which made for an extra cozy vibe during our winter visit. Fresh Tinker coffee and water bottles were available whenever we needed them, self-serve style. read more

I have driven past VisionLoft on a weekly basis without paying much attention to it, but I finally got to check it out while attending the launch party for the Keep Indy Indie winter passport and let me just say, I love this space. The space was perfect for the event I was at - big enough to hold everyone but small enough to feel comfortable at an event like this. The plant wall at the back was gorgeous, the bar was wonderful, seating areas at the front were wonderful to just take a quieter break in at different times of the night. It was overall just a nice experience here. I loved the fireplace and the bathrooms were just really nice. The aesthetic was overall just so nice to be in! I have visited vision loft several times for events. I was so impressed with the room. I think it has to be the best meeting place for with all the technology in the room. It makes it convenient to host a meeting more than any other facility in Indy. There was someone to assist us when needed. Our organization will be using it for our meeting and celebrations . I fell in love with the space and we decided to book it for our wedding. Two weeks before our wedding, COVID hit and we were in full lockdown. They offered to have it moved which we did, thinking it would be a short illness and not something that lasted months (and now over a year). The government executive order would not even allow us to have our wedding on our original date even if we wanted too. After changing the date, we decided to cancel completely after a month of changing the date because we did not feel safe in the venue or the lack of precautions they were taking. We realized this was going to be longer than we had expected and could not have the day that we thought and planned for. They did not care one bit about the stress or heartache that planning a wedding in a pandemic causes. They only cared about themselves and the money they were making off of people who were making extremely tough decisions about the most important day of their lives. They are the ONLY vendor we had that did not offer any type of concession due to COVID. Out of dozens of vendors and companies that I worked with, they are the only ones who were not understanding and did not care about their clients. We did not expect a full refund as that is not what we received from other vendors but we received almost half of the amount of all non refundable deposits from other vendors. I'm very sad that they did not care about anything other than money. It was such a difficult and sad time. We would have loved to have our wedding there but could not for the safety of us and our guests. I wish they would have done right by their clients. Truly a shame and sad experience. read more

We had our wedding at VisionLoft Events and it turned out absolutely beautiful! The space is gorgeous with tons of cool tech options to play with. We had both our ceremony and reception in the space and the staff at VisionLoft performed the entire flip from ceremony to reception in one hour while our guests explored Mass Ave. We had so many compliments on the look of the space and our guests enjoyed the quick break without any problems! I did struggle with communication with the owners and had to hire a separate wedding coordinator to help with that. In the end everything went fairly smoothly I just wish it would have been communicated up front that the owners were hands off regarding planning details along the way. If you plan to hire a coordinator everything should work out well! read more

Intriguing space with poor ownership. We asked for quote for a family event on a certain date. After receiving an informal quote that was within our budget and touring the facility, we asked for an official quote as we were interested in possibly booking the space. The owner then asked what our event was for and I told her that my fiance and I would be eloping earlier in the year and that we wanted to throw a party with friends and family since no one would be present at the ceremony. We would not have any ceremony, DJ, announcements, extra decorations, cake, etc...we would simply have an open bar with catered food for friends and family to come hang out. The owner said that this now qualified as a wedding event since it "celebrated a past wedding, requiring extra setup" and changed the pricing to THREE TIMES the initial quote. Keep in mind, nothing had changed in our requests for the event. We were then told that they had a couple interested in the event space for a wedding on that same day, so we realized that our cheaper event was now disposable to them. We decided to use a different venue that actually wanted the best experience for their customers instead of trying to take advantage of their situation. Afterward, we were thankful this venue did not work out. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere, as well. read more
