I was in a room having a conversation with one of the techs about my experience with cancer as she did the preliminaries before the doctor came in and we had a laugh about what I had said. But apparently Dr. Batson was listening to our conversation from another room, whether intentionally or not, and when she came in she clearly had an attitude over what I can only presume was an assumption she had mistakenly derived through the wall or door, and stated, "I am going to prescribe you glasses, you can wear them or not." Said in a tone she should never have taken with a patient, certainly not with ME. I went ahead and got my glasses there for convenience but I will not be going back, you can count on THAT.

I rank the the the following: Reception: 3* Lady checking me in was ok nice. Had 4 cups/glasses sitting on her desk. 2 soda cups, a coffee cup and her personal thermal cup Pre-testing: 5+* Young lady was exceptional. Very easy to understand, smiled and interacted very kind Doctor and Assistant : 3.5* Dr Vincent Rice was very good at testing my eyes. Chairside manner leaves a lot to be desired. Hardly spoke at all. Assistant never said a word or smiled. Appeared to be upset about something. Maggie: 5+* Young lady fitting me for glasses was excellent. Very professional, helpful and friendly. Maggie's said that glasses would be in 7-10 business days. 9 business days passed and no call. Called twice and left messages. No one ever returned my call. FINALLY got a real person on the phone and confirmed glasses were there. Made a special trip, 45 minutes, to town to pick glasses up. I came in at 12:10 and one person, Maggie, was only person helping people. Kimberly1* (? I think was her name) was sitting at her desk, looking at herself in her mirror, adjusting her hair. She looked past me and helped a lady that came in two people after me. I asked her if she would help me, she would help in a bit. I'd already been there 12-15 minutes. Lindsey: 5+* (? I think was her name) was sitting at the front doctor reception desk and went to back and asked what to do to get me some help. She came back got my glasses, put them in a paper bag with glass cleaner and handed them to me. I asked "was someone going to fit them to me". She said if you want to wait. My conclusion is Vision is NOT full service! Especially when you pay $825 for a pair of glasses. Go somewhere else. You do not get what you pay for. OR get your script here and order online. You'll get better service.

Not only that, but they seem to enjoy overbooking so you will go in on time and wait for a good 2 hours before you get your 5 seconds of time with the doctor. Very poor. During the visit, Dr. k. Patrick an optometrist specializing with pediatrics, was going over…read moreprotocol before completing the last part of the exam. At this point she explained and I will include the excerpt from patient review summary: " Asked mother to call the office if the patient is having trouble wearing the rx full time by ~2 weeks for temporary cycloplegic drops to encourage pt to wear the prescription. This was the point at which the pt's mother stated she would not do drops at home if he needed them as she considers that to be "torture to children" even if he was having trouble adapting to the prescription. I stressed the importance of the pt wearing the spectacles full time for best chance at reversing the amblyopia (permanent vision loss) and for ocular protection of the left eye." There are a few things wrong with this statement that makes it falsifying documentation. I know it's 2 years later and I'm still waiting on a call and resolution for this. But back to the gist: when told the above my response and I quote (pulling it from follow up email dated the same date as this summary) "why would I want to do this, it seems torturous to a child, and can't that negatively effect his eyesight for long term use?" She then went on about how it would be negligible for me not to do this. I followed with "there are other ways to promote a child to wear glasses that doesn't involve removing more of their already limited vision. I will see someone else. You're done with Jay today. Do not touch him again. I want you to leave and I plan to report this." I have dug into it and here is the ethical consideration to the impact of eyesight for children with using those dilation drops: " Non-maleficence: This principle requires healthcare providers to do no harm. Using cycloplegic drops in patients without a clear clinical indication to simply "encourage" compliance with spectacle wear could be considered a violation of this principle due to the potential side effects and discomfort." " Beneficence: This principle obliges healthcare providers to act in the best interests of their patients. While cycloplegia can be beneficial for accurate diagnosis and treatment, using it solely for compliance purposes raises questions about whether it truly aligns with the patient's best interests given the potential drawbacks." And lastly " Using cycloplegic drops solely to "encourage" spectacle wear is generally not ethically justifiable due to the potential harm, infringement on patient autonomy, and the availability of more appropriate methods to promote compliance. Cycloplegia is a valuable diagnostic and therapeutic tool that should be reserved for cases where there's a clear clinical indication, and its use should always involve a thorough discussion of risks and benefits with the patient or their guardians." In the entire visit no clear reason other than keep the glasses on was given. I as a mother do not trust her with my child. If you see her I suggest you go elsewhere.
