We are from California and we're on vacation in the Ozarks when my significant other lost her prescription eyeglasses near Branson. Unable to find them, we called around for an optician and found Queen City. They were able to take our replacement order over the phone, asked me to text a copy of the prescription (which thankfully we had with us) and then drive in the pouring rain to Springfield. Within a hour we got to the store, picked out frames and then waited just 15 more United to get complete glasses. They were literally faster than the McDonald's next door! I have been a customer here for at least a decade. Over the past 5 years care has increasingly declined. I understand that price is changed with insurance but they would zero my account out every single time on one pair of glasses. Recently they told me my glasses would be completely covered but then they told me I needed $47 to get my glasses for $57 to have the mail to me and I live in the same city. The glasses that I got in August last year are missing rhinestones and when I tried to push the thing of the bridge of my nose the glasses broke in half. They will not replace the frames. Which are a cheap pair manufacturer product with inflated prices. I called them and told them today that because of treatment and decline in quality that I would not be coming back she said okay thank you have a nice day and hung up. I've been seeing optometrists since I was 10 years old and my first appointment at Queen City Eye Care took about three times as long as any I'd ever experienced before. With that in mind, you might expect this to be a more negative review, but the reason for the unusual length of the visit was of the unquestionably positive variety: Dr. Tran spent at least an hour lecturing me about corneal health, and the deleterious effects poor contact hygiene can have on it. I admit her enthusiasm was a little off-putting at first, but by the end of the appointment I began to see that it stemmed from a genuine passion. And after walking out, prescription in my email and three boxes of sample lenses in my hands, all I felt was appreciation for her effort and gratitude for her generosity. Look, if you prefer the assembly line style of the average optometrist's office, whose only goal is to get you in and out so they can move on to the next patient, fine. This place may not be for you. But if you want to see someone who will spend as much time on you as she deems necessary to do her job well, give Queen City Eye Care a try. read more

Went here. They did not have my appointment on the schedule, but they had that spot open. My appointment felt really rushed liek the doctor was trying to go somewhere because she left right after I did. They did not have my correct prescription of contact to try on so I could not guarantee 100% that they were clear. I also had to pay a lense fitting fee which I have never had to pay before ($85, they also said it would go towards my deductible and months later it still has not been filed). I also asked for a receipt and all the said they could give me was the credit card receipt. One contact prescription is not correct. I didn't notice it at first because I was getting use to weighted contacts But now that I am use to it, I can tell it is not correct. I will not be going back, and will have to go to a different doctor and buy different contacts because they messed up. Anyone who asks for a eye doctor I tel them not to go there. read more

Was very disappointed with the customer service experience. The doctor was very unprofessional and made comments during my appointment that were very disrespectful. Not only did I have to pay extra during my appointment than what I was told my vision insurance would pay but was made to worry unnecessarily during my appointment about something that Dr. Tran overly compensated actual severity of the problem. Also set up an appointment to check back two weeks later which I have deducted is not necessary. I do not plan to go to this clinic in the future I highly recommend anyone considering to please do your research first . read more

Dr Tran is extremely down to earth and very personable. I didn't feel rushed at all or pressured into anything. She is extremely knowledgeable in her field, and does an excellent job in relating information in terms you can understand. They also have a machine that can test in-depth issues you may have with your eyes; and she charges a low price for its service. You can tell she cares about her customers and loves what she does. It's nice to see more local businesses like this that care about their clients and not their pockets. read more

WARNING! This business is deceptive. Use their service at your own risk! I wanted a simple eye exam and a prescription for eyeware. They tried to charge me for some sort of deluxe ultimate eye exam with no upfront disclosure of any of the additional costs involved. When I called to make the appointment, I was told it would cost either $0 or $35 depending on my insurance co-pay. The first dead giveaway of deception was the form they want their new customers to fill out as Dr. Tran exclaims, "We are going to have you sign your life away by filling out this form for HIPPA Purposes." Boy was she not kidding. I assume they do this so that the claim they make with your insurance can access vision AND medical because the form asked all kinds of questions totally unrelated to an eye exam. I have good insurance that was supposed to cover the cost of the exam and a nominal portion of frames and lenses. But all during the routine exam I felt like I was being setup and sugar-coated by Dr. Tran's constant use of syrupy remarks like, "beautiful, fantastic, I love it, great, wonderful..." and on and on at every step of the exam. Then near the end of the exam she started using high-pressure sales tactics to get me to buy my glasses at Queen City. After seeing their inflated prices, I asked to just get a written lens prescription. They took me to the counter and the attedant said I owed $112 in addition to what they were planning to fiile with my insurance. I asked why the charge and was told because of all the bells and whistles given during the exam. Yet, it was a very routine exam exactly like I've always had done many times before (with the exception of all the overly zealous remarks that sounded like Dr. Tran was trying to coach me through child birth in a delivery room). After checking with my insurance, the charge should have been zero dollars whether Queen City is in-network or out of network with my insurance plan. After discussing this with Dr. Tran, she tried to cover up their attempt to over charge me by saying, "Well, I think the person at the counter who figured your bill read your insurance coverage wrong," even though Dr. Tran said the person at thewcounter was highly experienced with insurance earlier in our conversation. Dr. Tran then told me if I wanted a written prescription I would have to pay at least $35, and that she was classified as a "specialist" and qualified for a higher category of insurance coverage. The one thing Dr. Tran could not grasp is the concept of being transparent upfront with the otherwise hidden charges. Their standard practice at Queen City is to insert charges they don't tell you about upfront and hope a person just feels like they have to pay it without saying anything, because Dr. Tran is so syrupy nice. These people are very shadey and I do not recommend their services. read more

My elderly father and I chose Queen City based on the reviews and Dr Tran did not disappoint! She was energetic and thorough and answered out concerns and provided recommendations on products to help with our issues. We both left saying that we had never experienced such a thorough exam and how much we enjoyed her personality. The exam cost $75 and the average frame cost was about $175 which is more than Sams Club but I didn't mind paying more for the better experience. read more

Dr. Tran was great and the eye exam went well. However, when it came time to buy the glasses, things got weird. First, I had never heard of the brand of lenses they sell, called LifeScape. When I asked questions about the coatings Harry was not able to answer them, and I couldn't find much information online, either. Second, rather than verifying my insurance coverage before the sale, they made some assumptions about who my insurance carrier was, and what would be covered. My insurance company lists Queen City Eye Care as being in-network, so I assumed they knew what they were talking about. But after I checked my coverage, I realized my insurance would have paid for about $107 of the total amount. Rather than submit a claim to my insurance, Queen City politely refunded my money and suggested I take my business elsewhere. So I went over to Chesterfield Eye Works where I got a reputable brand of lenses, and they took my insurance, no problems. As I said, Dr. Tran is great. If you are not concerned about what brand of lenses you get, and if you are paying out of pocket, I can recommend Queen City Eye Care. But if you have insurance, and want to avoid unpleasant surprises and wasted time - make sure you know exactly what is covered before you pay. read more

I would give Dr. Tran and her staff a hundred stars if I could. I was having some alarming vision changes and Queen City Eye Care had been highly recommended. I called and expected it to be months before I could get in but Dr. Tran got me in right away. She listened to any and all concerns and fears I had and after figuring out the problem she immediately set in motion getting me referred to a specialist. I had never used contacts before but was intrigued and she encouraged me and helped me with the processed and even let me come in the next day to help me out and got my order done quickly and painlessly. Dr. Tran has a lovely personality and is so sincere. She also is very funny. You can really tell she cares about her patients and wants the best for them. She doesnt rush you and really listens to what you have to say. I feel like I've been her patient for years. She was filling in for someone and did a fantastic job extracting a metal object from my spouses Eye. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a great optometrist in the Springfield area. I needed an eye exam and new glasses so I decided to give this place a try. What a great place! The facility is very nice and VERY clean. Not a hair out of place. Dr. Tran is amazing! She is so nice and really takes the time to get to know you and to explain things. I will never go anywhere else. The exam is reasonably priced even if you have to pay out of pocket. Speaking of money, if you're on a tight budget they also have very reasonably priced frames and they will do their best to get you what you need. read more

HORRIBLE, TERRIBLE, DISGRACEFUL, UNPROFESSIONAL is how I describe Queen city eye care and Dr. Tran THIS IS THE WORST PLACE EVER! So unprofessional, uneducated, and incompetent. I have worn glasses since I was two years old and my whole entire life I have never had such a horrible experience with getting my eyes checked and ordering contacts ang glasses. This clinic is very poorly run and organized and dont care about their customers. I was in the middle of asking a question about my eye health and the women doctor was so insensitive and cut me off demanding that I go online and give a good review, not even listening to me explain how I felt like my eye vision was getting worse. They wouldn't listen to me and didnt change my prescription because apparently this lady had to be right and was refusing to listen to anyone else except herself. The reception staff is incompetent and uneducated who will say that they will write down your message and call back but then never do. I bought glasses and contacts and they messed up my order and my brand new glasses came in with scratches and bent frames when they were BRAND NEW. So I had to wait for almost 3 weeks until the second replacement pair came in and then once again the lens were scratched. I had to wait for over a month to receive my contacts which they also messed up that order as well by overcharging me +$200 and then in the end I didnt get the correct order of how many boxes I should have and because I wasnt able to get a rebate either. I called demanding to fix this injustice and the secretary was completely ignorant and said that the doctor who supposedly was the only doctor they had and the only one who could fix the problem was away on vacation and couldn't get fixed until she returned.... THAT WAS OVER A MONTH AGO!!!! THEY STILL HAVE NOT REPLIED TO ANY OF MY CALLS OR MESSAGES TO THIS DAY. THIS IS THE WORST PLACE AND YOU SHOULD NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME HERE. I never got my prescriptiob right gave me the run around about eyes change lenses are different from readers I could read just clear as bell with readers telling me my eyes were dry never have I had dry eyes then I took my frames back because my lense fell out went to Maddox nuprader eye ware told me the screw was stripped I told queen City that told me lense was cut wrong to small I said no screw stripped anyways let them replace lense fell out again few weeks later screw stripped for sure they showed me screw and it was metal colored on end. Sure sign then told me I'm not in optomology so I'm to stupid to know a striped screw hole when I see it then tell me warranty is not there problem it's my insurance that it used to pay for it problem I said no your the retailer repersenting the brands you see anyway I crushed them in my hand and left them outside there font door $259 down the drain do no go to this place to give them your business there dishonest business pratices read more

Queen City Eye Care is by far the best quality eye care business around! My husband and I started going here last year whenever he began having vision issues. As a younger married couple who doesn't have a lot of extra money as my husband finishes college, they have really gone all out to try and find ways to help us cut costs but still receive the quality products we needed and deserved. Dr. Tran, Henry and the team work hard to be very thorough with their exams and treat everyone like family! Whenever it was my turn to get an exam at the end of the year, I was so happy to find out my insurance also was covered there so I could get the best in town. I have an endocrine disorder, and Dr. Tran was able to see this through an eye scan and explain based on the look of my blood vessels, how a potential concern could arise due to my disorder in future years and how it could be detected via my eyes. It was fascinating and I appreciated her taking the time to explain how my health connects to other areas of my body and potential signs to look for in the future. We went back for my husband's yearly exam today and found out that his insurance wasn't going to cover costs of an issue that popped up, so they worked with us to make sure we could get it all worked out. As someone who loves details and information, I am thankful for a professional who spends extra time with her clients, making sure she is thorough with her exams, all questions are actually answered, and everyone is satisfied. They have a quick return on their glasses and contacts within a few days, Saturday appointments, and ability to scheudle online. I also really love that they are an incredibly compassionate group of team members that are hilarious, up-to-date, and knowledgeable in their field. They may do wonderful work once customers are actually inside getting eye care but they sure don't make a very good first impression.One of my co-workers recently tried to make an appointment there and they couldn't get her in for over a week. She decided to go elsewhere. Since the place has good reviews, though and I needed to schedule an eye exam for myself I decided to give them another chance. The feature on their website that's supposed to allow customers to make an appointment is far more trouble than it's worth and after you finish trying to navigate it, you still have to call to arrange the appointment. Then, when I called yesterday and said, "I'd like to make an appointment for an eye exam" the receptionist responded with, "A whaaaat?" They didn't exactly inspire confidence and I decided to go elsewhere, too. When I immediately called one of their competitors to make an appointment I was struck by how easy it was and how professional the receptionist's demeanor was in contrast to my experience with Queen City Eye Care. read more

I walked in with my prescription in hand and found a pair of glasses that I love (after searching for weeks!). Unfortunately they were the only store in the city that doesn't want my money. They said that if I would have come there for my vision screening they would have gotten to know me and would been willing to work with my insurance, but because they have found my insurance provider to be difficult to understand, they didn't want to help me. I wasted my entire lunch break trying on glasses and was ready to pay any difference in cost to get the frames I loved. I have been to Pearle Vision, Eyeglass World, Visionworks, Sears Optical, and at least 3 other optometrists who all called my insurance provider to confirm what my benefits covered, but I was still searching for that one special pair of glasses.The people at Queen City weren't even willing to call my insurance provider so that they could understand what my policy actually covers!!!!!!!
