I have never written a review on a company before but was so dissatisfied with this company that I felt it necessary to inform everyone of the unprofessional, disrespctful, dishonest, and degrading treatment I received from the owner of Visalia Tow Company. While his timing to arrive at the scene of the accident and remove the vehicle from the side of the road was speedy and all communications started off well, it is what happened next that formed my negative opinion of the owner and therefore prompted this reveiw. In my opinion, he is so greedy and money hungry that he purposefully did not explain his policy regarding storage fees and his "3 day vehicle lien policy" so he could squeeze as much money out of us as possible. With a cooperative attitude and spirit, I asked him what the next step was regarding my vehicle on his property. He gave me his business card and then advised me to contact my insurance company and said that they would handle it from there. I thanked him for his kindness, collected my belongings from the vehicle, and left the property to do as he suggested. I contacted the insurance company and was told that the police report from the accident had been requested and they were then just waiting for the police department to release the report to them with the responsible party's insurance information and that the responsible party's insurance would be covering the vehicle storage fees within reason up to about 2 weeks post accident. Never having been in this situation before, I thought at that point I had done all that I had been advised to do and was waiting for the insurance assessment to be performed on the vehicle at the tow yard. Accident occurred on 23 April 2016.
On 3 May 2016 the tow company contacted us to inform us that we are being charged $35 per day to store the vehicle on the premesis and that he has imposed a $75 lien fee since it has not been removed after 3 days and he is going to sell it to the first person who calls and wants it. I nicely explained to him that wasn't what he told me was going to happen and that he didn't ever mention any charges or lien fees or timelines to me when I asked him in the 1st place what the next step was. Very rudely he told me he didn't have to tell me anything and that he don't have to hold my hand and do my job for me by informing me of his policies. He said his policy is written inside his office on 2 walls and that it was my responsibility to read it in there. I reminded him that he greeted me in the parking lot and I never entered his office and he said that's my fault that I never went inside. WOW! All I can say is scam scam scam! Very rude, very unprofessional, and very deceitful! He went on to say other rude out of line things to me while I was trying to be cordial. I had asked him several times to not speak to me in the manner he was speaking. I told him that I was just trying to communicate with him and find out where the disconnect was or the miscommunication or why there was a lack of information that in my opinion should have been shared with me when I had asked for it way back on day 1. In the end I did slip up and said a cuss word at him, something along the lines of him stepping up and improving his f'ing customer service skills which I apologized multiple times for but never once did he apologise for the way he treated me, the way he talked down to me, or the way he manipulated the situation to scam money out of our pockets. Never in a million years will I ever do business with him or his company again.
