Dosa - Mysore Masala Dosa / Spicy Mysore-Style Crepe with Potato Filling

We missed the buffet. But we saw it laid out. Next time we will get there early and add a few notches to our belt. There are 5-6 different biryani/ Pullao's different parents parantha's and dosas And many other items. A couple of amazing deserts too. We have the Mysore masala dosa and the plain and masala dosa. The idli medu varda Along with the mango lassi. I'm North Indian. And I loved it.

The dosa was delicious. I highly recommend Virundhu for all your catering needs!

We had dinner at Virundhu tonight with a friend. The chicken biryani was outstanding ~ so flavorful. The garlic naan with paneer masala is delicious. We also tried chicken tikka masala - yummy! For dessert, we had very special filter coffee and rasmali. My spouse is South Indian and picky about restaurants. He said the food tastes like "home." There is no greater compliment.

This is one of the regions best vegetarian south Indian food you can get !!! I wish I can say the same about non vegetarian food . I have visited this place several times since their opening day. As you enter you will be greeted and seated. Menu can be via scan in phone ! Very nice ambience and spacious they do have a party hall. Menu is easy to order and has wide range for both vegetarian and non vegetarians. We went through the menu and placed the order and took about 25 minutes to 30 minutes. Here are thier must try: Vegetable biryani or paneer biryani or chicken dum biryani , Gobi manchurian, corn pepper fry, Parotta kurma Items that didn't impress me: Veg Kothu or kili parotta, mutton sukka and kodi vepudu as both had same taste / spiced. Sambar vada was bland. But regardless of all those this place is definitely worth trying and you will come again for their taste on certain dishes you like !!

Excellent Indian BYOB! The food, as rated by my Indian colleagues, is authentic, and very delicious as rated by me. Excellent service, great owners. Don't forget to bring a bottle to go with your meal. I had chicken tikka masala (what else is a white girl to order?), my colleagues ordered a variety of Indian dishes (see pics) - all were excellent. A must try!

This is our new go-to Indian restaurant. Virundhu is the real deal. The highlights are the prawn manchurian and the puri masala. Homemade and incredibly delicious. The chicken tikka is good but there were only a few chunks of meat and not very filling. Every time we go, the dining room is full of Indian families of all sizes (table of 3 all the way up to a table of 11). My kids love this place. If you pay cash, there is a discount.

Was very excited to see a new South Indian place open up. Decided for our first visit to try out dependable South Indian specialties like masala dosa, uttapam, and idli. All three were fresh, hot, and tasty. (Uttapam was non-oily which I really appreciated -- always find a lot of places use way too much.) Sambhar (lentil soup accompaniment) was fantastic, reminded me of my family's--even had drumstick, an Indian vegetable you don't see often in restaurants! Also ordered a baby corn manchurian appetizer which was fantastic, really crisp and tangy. My (non-Indian) mother in law was timid and just got the chicken tikka masala, but she reported that it was the best she's had in ages. She also tried some dosa and liked it. Couple of quibbles that I hope they fix: chutneys were watery and bland, which was surprising because the sambhar was really good; they need some fabric on the walls as noise absorbers because it's mighty loud; and a couple little service snafus that come with a new opening. But all in all we look forward to our next visit, and I'll try some of the daily specials!

Went for Sunday lunch buffet. Mutton and chicken curry way too salty, masala dosa lacked flavor, and paneer was very chewy.

The food on my first visit shortly after it opened was wonderful. Against all restaurant odds, it has gotten better with each subsequent visit as winter turned to spring. Whether your preference is meat, vegetarian, a combination, you will find more than one appetizer, main dish, and dessert to please you. Some of the choices created by the creative, friendly chef, Ashok----who by the way stopped at our table and answered questions----are: ---A Shrimp appetizer on top of the poori---Something new to me but something I will want again. ----Tender, well-seasoned lamb chops, unequaled in quality and flavor, and better than any I have ever had. ----Aloo Tikki Chaat---- if chat interests you. Affectionately called Indian Street Food. It would be welcome on my street anytime. The restaurant is very convenient and accessible to Northwest Philadelphia---Chestnut Hill Mount Airy ---and the near suburbs. Buut the restaurant is well worth a longer trip if you are not nearby. The staff is friendly without being intrusive. They know just when to be there for you and when not to be. The check will not break the bank. One of the highlights of the lunch menu is the inclusion of naan and rice, which perfectly complemented the flavorful curries and tandoori specialties. The curry sauce was smooth, infused with the warmth of ginger, the fragrance of garlic, and the subtle heat of chili peppers. The portion was also very generous.
