I started seeing Dr. Rachel Erickson about 2 months ago. I've been feeling slightly fed up with my regular health care provider- short appointment times, impossible to get an appointment yada yada yada. I understand that the entire health care system is pretty stretched thin. Dr. Rachel is wonderful! My first visit to her was in 2013, when I was at the end-of-my-rope battling a sinus infection off-n-on for 5+ years. I will remain forever grateful for Dr. Erickson as I thoroughly believe she saved my life, or at the very least saved me from an unnecessary surgical procedure. I had tested positive for HPV and cervical dysplasia for the past 3 years. 3 months ago the dysplasia had progressed to CIN 2 and my (former) GP sent me to Swedish to get a biopsy. The biopsy confirmed the diagnosis and they were adamant about doing a LEEP procedure ASAP. Having read quite a bit about this procedure, and possible complications, I decided I would try all other options first. This is when I came across Dr. Erickson's blog on cervical dysplasia. I immediately made an appointment and she set me on a 3-month treatment plan. Our goal was to reverse the dysplasia and (hopefully) clear the virus. Last week, we repeated the pap and blood tests (through the same company most doctors use- LabCorp). My results came back and not only was my dysplasia COMPLETELY reversed (yay for normal cells!), but I was also tested negative for every strand of high-risk HPV!!! The virus itself was CLEARED (which a LEEP procedure cannot do, so the risk of the dysplasia returning would remain)!!! In addition to these amazing results, Dr. Erickson was caring, took the time to answer all of my (many) questions, went through all of my test results with me, and managed to calm my distress. I really appreciated Dr Rachel's style and we accomplished a lot in our time together. Her nonjudgemental posture always put me at ease being fully forthright with my health concerns, lifestyle choices, behaviors, etc. The honesty that afforded us allowed for tremendously powerful and pragmatic conversations and quick adaptations that resulted in successful plans of care. More so, I've never met a medical practitioner who so eloquently educated me throughout the entire process. She inspired my learning and matched my pace. I thought I'd try meeting with a naturopath for my annual physical. Based on Yelp reviews, I picked Rachel. First of all, for my annual physical she did 0 physical exam. I was also due for a Pap smear, which I told her, and she did no gynecological exam nor Pap. Then, she asked questions about fatigue as part of the visits. I told her I was tired on some days when I went to bed late and my 2 year old didn't sleep well, but that my energy is usually quite good. Later in the visit, she prescribed 2 vitamin supplements for "fatigue". She even sent an email with the exact purchaser and a link to place the order immediately. Then, though there was no reason, tried to schedule a visit the next week. I told her I had no need to come back. I got routine labs done after the visit and after a week I had to call her to see what the results were. She asked me to make another appointment to get my results. I declined, again asking that she let me know my results. They were all normal. I short, she tried to set up several unnecessary appointments and prescribed unnecessary supplements just to line her pockets. All this while neglecting important health care maintenance. read more
