SavOn Liquors is right next to 14th Street Cafe Asian Bistro, technically sharing space with Kingfisher Bar (that I want to visit next time). It's small and well-stocked, and the clerk--an African guy--also sold me a corkscrew that I ended up not needing, so I have zero complaints. With "a nice Chianti," everything totaled about $15, so I was very pleased.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that the plexiglass barrier was taken down, and I could speak with the employees somewhat face-to-face. This is probably my favorite liquor store in the area simply because it is always bright and organized. Prices are comparable to most area stores but i've definitely seen lower ones elsewhere. If the prices were lowered just a tad I would give it 5 stars. Overall I am a fan and will be making this my go-to liquor store. Great selection.

I was hoping to get some Baltimore honey, but I guess I can get it at MOMs. There weren't many attendees either. No lines to buy tickets at 11:30. Vendors were bored and some were a bit aggressive to lure you over. I didn't go see any speakers this year. They had yoga, but it was out in the open. I liked it when it was in a private room. It look like there were more people wandering the convention center for the Immunology conference than the Green Festival.

If you bike to the festival, you get in for free. Every year I learn something new about a cause, a retail item, a food product or a new organization. My favorite swag from this festival: solar flashlight from WGL Energy. shopping bag from Mom's Organic grocery, tin lunch box from City of Mt Rainier, chapsstick & hairband from Lifeway. Best swag: mini soaps from Dr. Bronners. You can't buy them anywhere & they are great for travel. I also loved the double plug car charger from Ford. Favorite food samples: popcorn from Dallas Popcorn (chatted with Dallas), Mom's Organic grocery, everything from Taste a Thon, Marina sauce from Micheal's of Brooklyn. Least favorite food sample: Fire cider (tasted as described). My favorite purchases from the festival: My new zebra striped Evalectric flat iron. I had my hair straightened and used the product at the booth. It is the best flat iron I have ever tried. I also bought Dallas popcorn. She was charging 3 bags for $6.49, which is cheaper than Whole Foods and she had all the flavors at the booth. The only reason I didn't buy marina sauce from Micheal's of Brooklyn is because I didn't want to carry heavy jars around the convention center. Besides, they are sold by Harris Teeter. The festival was smaller this year but just as fun.

Maybe that is always the case at liquor stores, I don't know. I find it strange. It would have been great with a similar range of ales, IPAs, stouts that you can buy in singles.

Maybe it's partially because it's free or opening concert that is intended to make you want to attend more paid concerts at venues, but the Marching Band and camera work/acoustics were pretty stunning. There were covers of Wicked (woman also narrated and blew me away with her vocal range-really moving) and a jazz duet that made it not seem boring..for the first time in my life. Everyone in the band is super talented and locked in-really inspiring-you can see they're bringing the energy and giving it their all. The weather was a bit rainy so seating requires extra preparation, but concert was really exciting. This Marching Band has been around since the time of Thomas Jefferson's inauguration and is around 230 years old, almost as old as the founding of the country. The concert was for Memorial Day and I'm someone who's skeptical of everything, but I also was feeling a bit patriotic in the end of with all the talent. The fireworks were pretty impressive too. Bathrooms outside were accessible with minimal lines. To get to the actual venue, there's a bit of a hike up from the parking but there are also a few people driving some carts up for free and I got to ride that too. Some of the direction and blocking off to direct into parking was awkward and require a roundabout drive. Parking can also be a bit crowded, but there was plenty-just be careful driving out of the venue with the traffic because noted there's some impatient/aggressive drivers. There was also some smoke from the fireworks that create what looks like a fog when you walk back down to parking. You can arrive early for better seating, but I was fine going there shortly before the concert starting. We did th wine tasting, and I honestly loved them all. We purchased a bottle of Celebration wine in the green bottle. They have other seating options in the manor house. Didn't check it out this time. They had The Little Lady food truck there today. We enjoyed the grilled chicken sandwich. Highly recommend people check it out.
