For years we had a wonderful relationship. They keep records of the machine and parts I bought there. Never a problem and great service. Recently on a parts order they ordered wrong part despite my objections, took 5 days to arrive because 'their truck driver called off work for 3 days'. A second parts took 12 days to arrive because 'both of their delivery trucks were down'. Paying for the second order they said there will be a new $5 credit card processing fee. I paid cash. Called Virginia Tractor in Manassas to have them pick up my JD1025R for filters and oil change. They quoted $500.00 for the service and $160.00 for labor at my address. I live less than a mile from VT. I told them that I didn't have a mower deck but the service included sharpening the mower blades. So I ordered the filter package and oil for about $75.00 from Amazon. I will never do business with the company again. read more

I have to admit that I was really disappointed in my experience with this business. I finally have a yard that deserves a lawn tractor. And after 28 years of active duty the yard is mine. I had never owned a John Deere and I was really looking forward to having one. I went into the store and walked around the showroom. Then I walked to the service counter and stood there for several minutes before anyone asked me if they could help me. When I told them I wanted to buy a lawn tractor they went to let the salesman know. When the salesman came out he was not friendly at all. He asked me what I was looking for and I showed him the model I was looking at, WWR went back to his office. He ran some numbers and put them on a sticky note. He included the price of the platinum package without even talking to me about it. After I figure out what was going on, I asked if he had a brochure or could talk to me about the necessary accessories he said he had no brochure, and did not respond to the accessories question at all. I left the store with the feeling that he really did not want to sell me a lawn tractor. I went another direction, but John Deere deserves better. read more

I brought in my D130 because I'm on my third battery in my tractor's short life span of 51 hours. There is some sort of electrical problem for sure. The Virginia Tractor mechanic could not find any electrical problem at all that would cause this, but he did determine that I had a leak in the "lower crank case seal" because he saw oil on the underside of the D130. I talked with him about this and told him that I had done my own oil change several days previously and that there was definitely some oil on some surfaces because of that, but he insisted that the crank case gasket needed to be replaced. He also said that because he saw oil on the traction drive belt, that needed to be replaced too. The bill was going to be about $600 in labor. The more I thought about this, the less sense it made. When I did my oil change, I drained a solid two quarts out of the engine. If I have a gasket leak, how come so much oil was still in the engine? I had previously also just mowed the lawn before I brought the tractor in for service, and I observed zero degradation in traction drive belt performance. Long story short (too late?), I went in and picked up my tractor. I guess the net-net of this is that in my case New Virginia Tractor in Manassas couldn't solve a problem that I knew I had (and the reason I brought it into them in the first place), but solved a number of problems that I didn't have. read more

Horrible service. I ordered parts for my law mower for them to install. It was Honda parts and coordinated with Honda to replace the parts by their dealer. Virginia Tractor did not coordinate with their service department and once the part arrived they said it takes 3-4 weeks to put the carburetor in my mower. very rude staff. I would not order parts or use their service department. read more

Out standing Customer Service needed a part and they got it for me outstanding. They were polite and energetic and help me out a great deal.

Close and convenient, but they don't ever seem to have what I need in stock. Always end up at the Warrenton location when in a pinch. They seem to have plenty of stock on hand. read more

Disappointed in level of service, communication of diagnostics, lack of diagnostic paperwork and overall communications to the customer. Manager did call me back to tell me my John Deere isn't really a John Deere and that they build a model for box stores and a model that is really a John Deere. Well if I was in the tractor business I might know these things but I've now spent more money on diagnostics, transportation to the repair shop and repairs than I did for the riding mower and still have less time on the engine than the required first time service recommendation. I know, you didn't build it but you could have told me the last time it was on its last legs before you charged me $400. Disappointed that's all. Have had my Honda push mower for 20 years and it still runs perfectly with zero maintenance. read more

I am very disappointed with the service department. I set an appointment for equipment to be picked up between 9 and 11 AM. At 1:00 I called the service department and could not be given a time to expect the service call. An apology was given and I was told I would hear something "soon". At 3:00 there has been no call from them. read more

I took my 2012 Deere x300 with only 1 meter-hour back to NewVaTractor for warranty service for carburetor problems. They refused on the basis of bad gas. I complained it was likely THEIR initial gas not my e-free with Stabil mix that caused the problem, since I had identically stored two Toros and an equivalent Cub Cadet with periodic starting over the same period with no issues. I learned that large parts of what you THINK is a warranty vaporize after your purchase check clears. They charged me $93 to a) spray carb cleaner into the carb and fuel line (which I told them I had already done) and b) to document how massive an effort this was going to be to fix: 'complete fuel system replacement with $380 parts, $270 labor, $20 shop supplies, and taxes on it all for $692 total. I declined and instead took the mower on my trailer to an honest country lawn and garden mechanic recommended to me by friends, gave him no information but the simple instruction ' This mower won't run. Fix it and bill me ' and left. I expected the award of my business to be only a matter of principle since NVT has both a labor and a parts advantage...they told me they did this repair up to ten times a week so the labor should be rote and they would therefore be purchasing only the known needed parts in bulk from their Kawasaki engine manufacturing partner. The smaller guy has to order and ship his parts individually and then self-teach one-time repairs of all brands, types and ages of outdoor equipment. My bill from this mechanic was as follows: $225 for the carburetor and $20 for single-unit shipping which was a pricey fixed cost for him, $6 fuel filter, 9$ carburetor gasket, $24 labor for the straightforward take-off/bolt-on new carb/hook-up-the-gasline-repair. About $285 total. That's $407 less than the NVT estimate with his labor running about the same as their shop supplies fee, about 25% of the failed-to-fix bill I had to pay and less than 10% of their grand repair proposal. The parts bill was also surprisingly $120 less. That's counter-intuitive yet my mower runs just fine as repaired. Because I had also taken the mechanic my reliable-starting Cadet 46" mower for its 350 hr 4-yr complete deck-rebuild (new bearings, blade spindle shaft, pulley and belt at $170 total p+L) I would guess that I saved a combined $700 on both repairs or over half the new cost of my old haul trailer. My neighbors paid travel cost since I bring back their full e-free gas cans with my own. And I can drive on to fish or hike with my wife after future Saturday morning dropoffs while my spare mower allows me to accept turnaround delay. The NVT people are courteous and responsive and I've nothing against local folks making a living. But the in-town convenience is less important to me as a retiree living on limited means and so I am taking the low cost option which I described. read more

I give New Virginia Tractor in Manassas VA not one but ZERO STARS (alas you have to select at least one to post a review) and would give them 10 negative stars if I could. Stay away from this place! They cannot fix your lawn tractor, but don't hesitate in charging you big bucks for horrible work. After waiting over 10 days for parts and a repair to be done, I found that they forgot to order part, which later turned out to be unavailable. So they claimed to finish up the deck repair and dropped off a monstrosity of a mess back to me on Saturday 9/13/14. The deck to chassis linkage was worse than not connected, it was jammed up under the deck. The deck was not leveled side to side or front to back so one of the small black guide wheels was hitting the ground while the other side's wheel was up off the ground by several inches. The cutting height was at best 1.5" off per the dial adjustment. My 'repaired' LT-180 gouged up my yard on the test run, but the guy dropping it off didn't wait (and with good reason -- no doubt he knew it was hosed). On Monday 9/15/14, I talked to JW the store mgr who agreed to process a refund of labor charges back to my card. When I didn't receive the refund by 9/23/14, I called, e-mailed, and then finally went to the store in person on 9/27/14 to discover that JW had left/resigned/was fired? the week before. So they took down my information and said the only person with the authority to issue a refund was the new acting store manager George, who is also the Operations Mgr. from the Charlottesville store. Well, George was supposed to call me today and imagine my lack of surprise when he didn't. This group is poorly run with no quality control. It appears they have one poor guy who has to do all the repairs by himself as well as all the deliveries. The store staff is in upheaval -- the service mgr disappeared into thin air after I started the service with him, the old store mgr is gone and now they have an acting mgr George who seems to be another invisible man. Do yourself a favor and don't buy a John Deere product from this business or anywhere else. If you do, don't deal with the Manassas Virginia Tractor or any of their other 3 local Virginia Tractor stores in Warrenton, Charlottesville, or Orange as they will be no better per other online reviews I've since seen (a day late and a dollar short as they say). It all starts at the top. They don't care about their customers only how much money they can move from their customers' pockets to their own. I'm still waiting for my refund and intend to contact them again tomorrow. For every day I have to wait for their response, I will be adding another negative review somewhere online. read more
