They were able to provide what insurance covered and what I was responsible for. Upon arrival, the waiting room was about half filled but those were people waiting on their loved ones. After about ten minutes, I pre-registered and was called to the back within five minutes of completing the registration. The nurse, Sunny, was very friendly that prepped for the surgery. She was helpful in answering questions and ensuring that I was comfortable. The anesthesiologist, Dr. Handel, was nice and readily available to answer my questions. The OR nurse and nurse anesthetist were cheerful and nice. I've forgotten their names. I have a few complaints. The doctor arrived forty-five minutes or more after the scheduled surgery time. This seemed to be normal and none of the staff was surprised. I get it that things can happen, but to be late for surgery on a regular isn't a good thing. The doctor never disclosed this, but I found out that he has an interest in this surgery center and profits off of the money made there. I was asked to sign a form saying that I knew and understood this. This should have been disclosed well before the day of the surgery. After the surgery, the doctor never came out to tell the family how the surgery went nor did he provide a follow up appointment or any information. The recovery room nurse had the family member sign discharge papers and seemed baffled as to why the doctor had not spoken to the family nor provided a follow up appointment. This caused some confusion and the family was basically left to do what they thought would be best in care upon arrival at home. It would also have been nice for staff to show the patient how to use the crutches and walker, as far as shifting weight to the good leg rather than the bad leg for climbing steps, getting up from a seated position, etc.

My adult brother who has Autism came to Boulders for surgery on his hand. He was crying from hunger…read more(NPO from midnight) and desperately wanted to go home and to eat chicken. Most staff were kind. In particular, Crystal, thoughtfully moved him to a quiet room for less stimulation. However, after multiple attempts to fabricate a physical ailment for a healthy man, the Anesthesiologist cancelled the scheduled surgery at 2:30pm, after he was fully prepped for surgery and had been there since 10:30am. This was cruel for the Autistic patient and mortifying for the surgeon who had booked the surgery at Boulders. Thankfully, the hand surgery took place at CJW the next day under a compassionate and knowledgeable anesthesiologist. Further training on disabilities and human rights is needed. UPDATE: Spoke with Bridget Roque, Boulders' Administrator "Per our guidelines if there is a behavioral component that we feel like the hospital is a better setting for we will cancel the procedure. We will review and cancel because we're not connected to a hospital and want him and our providers to be safe. We don't have that high acuity level of special-needs and we don't have that high-level training here. I apologize, and I wish it were communicated sooner and without looking for other excuses, but it's just the reality of what we can provide and how much training we can expect of our providers." They do not wish to pursue further training on disabilities.

Once I finally realized I had aged out of going to a doctor with zoo animals on the wall, I decided…read moreto get a general practitioner. I was referred to Banks Turner's office by family. I am on the younger end of the age span of his patients so take from it what you will. The front desk woman was a bit short, as if she had dealt with an onslaught of frustrating people, but was still professional. My wait time was short for my appointment - I arrived at 1:20pm for my 1:30pm appointment with my new patient paperwork filled out. The nurse, Stephanie, was sweet and efficient. Not 45 seconds after she walked out, Dr. Turner was in the room. He's not much of a talker and I might have read him as disinterested if I didn't know better - he's anything but. He was thorough and expeditious in his physical and assessment. The phlebotomist was very nice; unfortunately, it felt like she drove a piling into my arm and then fished around for a vein before giving up and trying the other. I'm not a huge fan of needles but I can generally donate blood without much fuss - it was a pretty rough stick. As I was leaving, I spoke with Dr. Turner again and he was more animated and very comforting about my concerns. Despite negative reviews I've seen, my first impression was overall positive. The front desk and phlebotomy left something to be desired but not even close to a true issue.

He is friendly and efficient, and I've witnessed the patience and kindness of the receptionists as they helped an elderly lady who mistakenly came to the office on a wrong day. My husband developed severe abdominal pains, stopped by the office, and was sent immediately to the hospital. This quick action saved his life. If you need to contact Dr. Turner after hours, there is always a doctor on call to help with your issues. What more can you want in a GP?

From the very first appointment they were thorough, kind and informative. I was there weekly from Feb 2024-Feb 2025 for Speech and Occupational therapy. They altered a lot of material, and even came up with new material for me to specifically target my symptoms and my unique mental processing. I would not be where I am today if it wasn't for CNS. From 2004-2006 another local neurologist was treating my daily migraines and many other symptoms from the (as of that time undiagnosed) permanent brain injury that I received in the dog attack. This other neurologist's ONLY treatment for me was Vicodin, which was not helping me, it was only making it worse. He did not listen to me nor do an MRI. At the time that I first went to CNS I was barely able to speak in full sentences. Each morning would start with me being sick, from waking up with a migraine, so I could not be around bright lights w/o extreme pain in my head. I had a severe balance problem causing me to fall down three flights of stairs fracturing my spine in several places. I could go on, but you probably get the picture. Dr. O'Shanick listened to me. He properly diagnosed me and helped me with O.T., Speech Therapy, got me off of the Vicodin and on proper migraine therapy. After two years of daily migraines and not wanting to leave the darkness in my home, I finally started to function again! I could remember words when I would have a conversation with my kids. The migraines slowly went away, thank the Lord! I stopped falling, learning how to deal with my balance being 'off'. In short, thanks to Dr. O'Shanick, I actually feel 'human' again. That can only be understood by someone who has suffered a brain injury. I do still have ringing in my ears, but unfortunately that is permanent. And hey, considering how bad I was, I'm doing pretty great! And I give all the credit to Dr. O'Shanick and his staff. Martinea Mease
