I bring my husband and family's clothes to get dry cleaned every week and even couple times a week nowadays I need to come here, and each time the service is great and welcoming. Employees here work so hard everyday and I can't thank them enough for how neat and precise everything looks. Thank you so much for your kindness every time I'm here! read more

I don't often go to dry cleaning services, but I was definitely impress when I went! They were amazing people and were very sufficient! I'd highly recommend coming here if you are in the area and in need of dry cleaning! :) read more

Best cleaners ever! #1 choice! Highly recommend! Won't go anywhere else but here! Thank you Virginia Cleaners!

I've never gone to any laundry services before, but I went out of my way to get my silk robe washed after spilling wine on it. The service was quick, and the employee was very friendly (and followed safety protocols during covid). Would definitely come back again! read more

This place was amazing. I don't ever need my clothes cleaned but of course, the time came since I have a wedding coming up. It was done in such a quick amount of time and when I got it, the clothes looked new. Like, actually new -- caught me by surprise. Whenever I would get cleaning from other places, sometimes it would still have a few wrinkles or my suit wasn't hanged nicely, but this was nice for a change of pace. I'll probably be back the next time I need it... but it'll most likely be in a long while! Amazing service, y'all. read more

Was in a pinch and needed some formal clothes cleaned quick after getting a stain in them from an event earlier in the day. Virginia Cleaners helped me get the stain out and quick! Definitely recommend read more

I don't relate to their overall rating at all! They are always prompt, professional, reliable, friendly and do a great job. I have had plenty of dry cleaners ruin things but never Virginia. They do a great job and always have your cleaning ready when they say they will. Very well run business - you can trust them with your most expensive and delicate clothing! read more

They get 1 star for taking nice care of clothes, and if you are looking for a place that has no sense of customer service than this place is perfect for you. I got there one day 5 minutes to 6 and they were already closed and they wouldn't open back up. If they had opened up I would have remained a customer because good customer service is always very important to me. read more

I went to get some items cleaned two times before with no particular problems so I figured I'd bring in a stained garment that I had along with some more items to be cleaned. To preface I've never had a stain cleaned by a dry cleaner but I couldn't get it out myself so I thought I'd try. I carefully explained what it was and indicated where it was. The lady assured me that it was no problem. I come back to retrieve my item and asked if they got the stain out. They said yes they must have and I didn't think to check. Low and behold, the stain was not gone. I phoned and explained it wasn't gone and the lady on the phone said to bring it back. I bring it back and the lady there said, no there's no guarantee that a stain will come out and tough luck basically. They never said this before, I paid for the garment to be cleaned even though that was not what I wanted, I only wanted the stain gone. I'm annoyed that they wasted my time and did not communicate and I had to pay to get the item cleaned even though that's not what I wanted. Sadly I must find a new dry cleaner now because I'm so perturbed. read more

The best dry cleaner in the area. Great, fast and friendly service. Juanita is very helpful among the great staff. read more

Had multiple items of clothing with odd fluids dried on them from the preparation or cleaning process which I had to take back and have them fix. Also cashmere sweater was ruined by someone or something which caused excessive pilling. Very expensive as well. Avoid if possible. read more

1 star is too many for this place. Terrible business. I have gone here a few times, but will NEVER return again. My favorite dress was lost and I have yet to be compensated for it. I get told something different every time I call and have yet to speak with the owner. They actually tried to offer me store credit to compensate for my lost dress...they've got to be joking... read more

They LOSE your clothes, RUIN OTHERS and if you're lucky, they will come back with the stains and smells you were paying them to remove still on the garment just with an extremely low-standard press. I do not understand a single one of the reviews here above a 2 star. Staff are RUDE, no matter how nice and pleasant YOU try to be to THEM- They act like you are annoying them by giving them your business. Currently, they have multiple pieces of our designer clothing 'missing'= equalling a couple of thousand dollars (we are by no means rich, but invest in a few good pieces that last rather than buying throwaway crap). They have ruined 2 dresses of mine (bleeding color, fraying) and when I have put in a very simple black blazer to be cleaned, it has come back still smelling like armpit/body odor and with pieces of food on the wrist that would be removable just by brushing it! There is no way this was even remotely cleaned, just pressed- and not even well. Oh and they charge 3-4 times what everywhere else does and if you pay to have extra to have your stuff done faster, it won't even get done. Just don't even waste your time (or your garments), I sincerely wish I had read the other yelp reviews before I gave these people the opportunity to ruin (more than once!) my wardrobe, some of my favorite pieces of mine AND my husband's clothing and my day. read more

Generally do a good job on the clothes, but over the course of 3 years they lost a shirt and ruined a rug. And they're expensive. They do have parking. I've never had anyone here be rude, but they are pretty clueless. read more

This used to be my favorite dry cleaner but over the past year or so the quality of their service has fallen off enormously. If you bring something in with a spot - don't expect them to get it out or to even mention that it didn't come out when you pick up your garment. The woman who seems to manage the place and is always there pulls such attitude that I have decided not to go back...ever! read more

This is a terrible, terrible dry cleaner. They will ruin your expensive designer coats and will put some foul smell soap on it, that the smell won't go away. They will still make you pay for it regardless of that they ruined your clothes. My suits are ruined. read more

I have used Virginia cleaners for years mostly because of the convenience of parking. They've been OK but then I had a raincoat an expensive one with a stain and they charge me $20 and we're unable to remove the stain they also sewed on a button on the raincoat from the spare I gave them but the button stayed on only one day. I then took the raincoat to Claremont cleaners and they clean and they were able to remove the spot completely. I don't know that I'll ever use Virginia cleaners again. read more

I had a great experience today. I went in to get a garment bag cleaned, which was going to be very expensive. The two women manning the shop, Juanita and Gladie, were very helpful with their advice, and even were able to help me repair the 20 year old zippers. Great! Nice "drive through" style parking as well. read more

Yes, they are good. It's one of those drive-in places where there's always a place to leave your car for a few minutes while you drop off or pick up clothes. They clean anything and everything, and so far, they haven't damaged any of my stuff! Spiffy. read more

this place a sick ass drying cleaning place they stay drying and they stay cleaning! i can't believe how clean and dry they stay cleaning and drying. i have never used a dry cleaning place but jesus this place is just in another level. top shelf dry cleaning place would give 6 stars read more

Since the store has been sold, the customer service is terrible. I was treated very rudely by a woman who works there. When I told her I had been a customer for 8 years, she said, "well, I've worked here for over 15 years." So, She can keep working there and I'm no longer a weekly customer. I have yet to find a good, reasonably priced dry cleaner, but I'll keep looking. There are lots of places in Berkeley to check out. read more

I don't really have an opinion about this place. The staff here is nice and they did a good job on my shirts.

I go here as my default laundry place. They do a great job with the shirts but charge a fortune for non-standard items like sweaters or suits. If they weren't so close or I did laundry more often I would probably look elsewhere. read more

This place is tops. I've been going there 5 years and they've been consistently wonderful. They treat your clothes carefully; they clean well and don't overheat or wrinkle when they press. And customer service has been fantastic. There's no place else in the East Bay that I trust as much with my best duds. read more

I will definitely come back. I think the staff are very friendly and they were able to answer all my questions. I never have had any complaints here. Prices are a bit high but it is very convenient since they have a drive up parking lot. From what I hear the owner uses green machines which makes me feel better about spending the little bit of extra $. They also have SAME DAY service! If you want to get in and get out this is the place to go. Last but not least they have candy!!!! read more

I've been using Virginia Cleaners for over ten years and have been very satisfied with all of the work they've done for me: dry cleaning, alterations/repairs or area rug cleaning. They restored a Burning Man beaten satin shirt to its original glory, fer cryin out loud. Their work is consistently high quality, which is hard to come by these days. So I don't mind paying the higher prices, especially considering they're located in my neighborhood. For anyone who thinks dry cleaners can work miracles on stains, you're sadly mistaken. There's only so much they can do. read more

I have been to this dry cleaners three times out of convenience and every time the customer service has been horrible. Not friendly, not even cordial. read more

When I picked up my dry cleaning today, I immediately saw that a very nice blazer had been ruined, with the edges of the lapel and hem looking tired and worn. The owner denied any responsibility, and suggested that the jacket must be very old, maybe even secondhand. It certainly looked that way once they got through with it, though it was new and in great shape when I dropped it off. How could we have done this, the owner kept asking me, as if I was an expert in their techniques. She kept denying any fault while placing the burden on me to prove exactly what went wrong. So I took to the jacket to my tailor, and she immediately explained that the likely cause of the damage was excessive pressure during the cleaning process. I went back and spoke to the owner again . . . but she continued deny all responsibility. I understand that sometimes damage occurs--but I expect a good business to take responsibility when this happens. This is especially true of a business that charges above average prices, as Virginia Cleaners does. I had always supposed this included a premium to cover just such eventualities. My sense now is that Virginia Cleaners does have a plan for when they accidentally ruin things, just not one that involves treating their customers fairly. Instead, their plan seems to be to stonewall, lose a customer, and wait for another potential victim to come in the door. I recommend you leave that door closed. read more

quality of work is poor for the high prices. Appalling customer service. I wish I read all the other reviews before trusting this place. In spite of the convenient parking, I will never go back. read more

I'd been OK with Virginia Cleaners, was treated OK, was impressed with their computerized recordkeeping of customer accounts, but --- In June 2013 I took a valuable men's riding cap with classic herringbone weave to them. Their process punched a hole in it, which they at first tried to hide, then quickly claimed it was already there when I brought it. Common sense: Would I bother to clean a hat with a hole in it? If it wasn't there already, shouldn't they examine it and say, this looks weak, it might get torn -- ? No? They can keep their computerized record as long as they like - I won't be there in the flesh ever again. read more

Bought new pants for the first time in two years, took them in to be hemmed, and they came out fine.

Extremely friendly staff. Slightly pricey, but I have used them for years. They've never lost or messed up an item of mine.

We are clients for more than 10 years, but since the business changed owner, the service is awful, they damage some items (burn) . We make a complaint and they were very defensive, they try to make us be responsible for it, I try to speak with the owner (Kim) but she said that she doesn't talk with her customers. Their service is awful and very poor! WE missed the old owners.! Silvia M. read more

By far , the worst. Don't waste a second of your time with these people. I dropped off some shirts to be laundered on Thursday morning - needed them for a business trip that I'm taking leaving Sunday. I specifically asked the the woman who received them on Thursday if the Saturday pick up would fine and she assured me that this was not a problem. Sure enough, when I showed today (Saturday) to pick the shirts, a different woman there informed me that "they didn't pick them up"....meaning they had not been laundered AT ALL! They were still sitting in their dirty bin - now going on three days. When they finally retrieved my shirts and piled them on the counter, no apologies given, no explanation, just " here are your shirts." I expressed my displeasure with them and their lack of customer concern / service and only then did she muster up a "sorry." I'd heard that this shop was a dud, and now I know from first hand experience that indeed are. Don't waste your time - take your business somewhere else to people who would appreciate it. read more

I do my regular dry cleaning here - blouses, blazers, jackets, etc. The clothes always come back clean and pressed correctly.

This posting is long overdue. I was a loyal customer for 10 years, and I noticed a slight change in customer service when the new owner took over, but it still wasn't detered from going there. Over the years some mistakes were made (like shrinking my husband's suede jacket), but I was willing to forgive. Then, about 1.5 years ago, after a large dinner party, I brought a old family linen table cloth to be cleaned, as I had done several times in past years. It was the largest and most valuable table cloth we owned, in white linen with an intricate damask pattern, in very good condition. When I went to pick it up, I noticed it had large holes throughout the table cloth. Nothing was said by the people behind the counter. In fact I didn't notice this until I got home. When I brought it back, they said that too bad, it was an old table cloth and that is what can happen. They showed no signs of remorse and acted as if it wasn't their fault. After talking with the owner (who never once said he was sorry), they offered to repair the table cloth and assured me it would look fabulous. So they put little patches all over the holes (which they claimed took their sewer countless hours to do, as if I should feel guilty). The final effect was rather absurd and they seemed to not understand that it was no longer a fully functioning formal table cloth. The value of the table cloth, was I to buy one today, is $800. The holes in the cloth looked so regular that they may have been caused by mechanical abrasion, though the employees refused to admit this was the case. Again, there was no offer to compensate our loss in any way, not even with free dry cleaning. So disgusted was I by this whole ordeal that I've never set foot in the place since. I now go to a dry cleaners (C & C Cleaners) on College Avenue in the Elmwood where the owners are nice as can be. I'm sure that if they ever did something ilke this to one of my items, they'd make up for it as best as they could. read more

The worst local business experience ever! I would never use them again. If I could rate them as MINUS 5 stars, I would. They are not at all the family business they purport to be in their folksy website photos, etc--obviously they bought the name, but that seems to be it. When they completely ruined a pair of my dress slacks by shrinking them so many inches that I couldn't even wear them, they (mgr, owner, and staff) became verbally abusive, did not return my phone calls, refused to provide information to facilitate problem-solving, made inappropriate and derisive requests (e.g., come in and model the pants!), implying that I must have made the whole thing up just to get them to buy me a new pair of pants. Insulting, to say the least. Unfortunately I missed the small claims court date because my daughter was ill--those were not cheap pants... read more

They totally messed up a vintage WWII officers coat that I brought there to repair the liner. Not only did they mess up the epaulettes, but they lost a pin that can never be replaced. They were disrespectful, unaccountable, and overpriced. COME HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!! read more

I've never written a Yelp review before but this place sucks so hard I felt compelled to do it. I often took my clothes here because it was conveniently located to where I live, work, and shop. But this place makes me so angry: - They are liars. If you ask how long it will take for your items to be available, they say they will have your items ready in a certain number of days. But when you come in to pick up your items, you will find they are not ready as promised. This can go through several iterations and it might end up taking over a week beyond the original time you were promised. - They don't follow instructions. They fail to do the simple things you pay them to do -- perhaps due to incompetence? I took in a coat to be mended at the shoulders and the pockets. I showed them both problems, but somehow they still neglected to mend the pockets. - They are very slow. Sometimes even very simple items take over a full week to process. - They are expensive. - The employees have bad attitudes: They are surly and slow and have poor communication skills. read more
