My husband and I honestly took forever browsing and reading labels. The store manager was incredibly patient with us, even though we probably stayed way too long talking about the cheeses we wanted to try and reading through their recommended pairings pamphlet. She was so knowledgeable and helpful with all of our questions, and even mentioned that they could specialty order anything that might be out of stock for us. Because you can buy their cheese by the 1/4lb, we ended up mixing and matching a selection of five different cheeses and a few cured meats to sample. Everything was absolutely delicious, and they have some really unique flavors available. The wild ramp alpine cheddar was so different to anything I had before, and the truffle manchego cheese was completely packed with so much truffle. The shop is currently celebrating their 10 year anniversary, and I can absolutely see why. Between the incredibly friendly, helpful service and a thoughtfully curated selection of artisanal goods, it's no surprise this business is thriving. This will definitely be my new go-to spot for gifts!

This isn't really a sports bar type place so they have a TV with a game on but it might not be your favored team. As if all that wasn't enough, you can get awesome El Tio Tex-Mex food at a stand in the back. Their chips and guacamole or queso or some nachos or tacos go perfectly with some beer. This is the best brewery in the area and I'll come back again.

On the way back from west of Manassas, I met up with 2 friends at a Fairfax music festival. Experience here: After the festival, my 2 friends & I walked to Ornery. They got food, and I just got a beer as I had already eaten dinner. My beer was solid, and the server was nice. Unfortunately, the waiter failed to say they were out of slicing tomatos for the burgers (a standard complement). When asked, the manager came over to explain. Later, when the waiter brought the bill, it was $75 higher than expected, because our bill was combined with another table's bill. This was eventually corrected, we paid and departed. While the manager explained that the waiter was new, when addressing the lack of tomato slices, they didn't return to explain the error on the bill. While this is not an expensive place, we ordinarily receive at least an apology when this occurs. Some places go further, offering a free dessert, coupon for a future visit, or other complement to the meal. Not in this case, hence the lower rating. There is plenty of seating, an accessible entry, two unisex bathrooms, and plenty of TVs spread around if you're there to catch a game. No street parking, but the City of Fairfax has a structured garage on the same block, accessed from both University Drive and Chain Bridge Road. I have no idea why, unless it is the difference in my apparel (work vs. casual). I left the other day knowing I won't be back. It is after all, "Better late than never."
