Maybe that is why it is never crowded and I always feel I can leisurely peruse the shelves without pressure if getting out of the way of other shoppers. Last year for our Halloween party, the patient attendant searched inventory in several stores to locate a couple bottles of black vodka for one of the seasonally themed drinks we were serving. He then called the other store and asked them to set aside the bottles and have them waiting for us. Other times, I've just brought in a list of spirits needed to make specialty cocktails and the attendant has gone to the shelves and brought the items to the counter--in essence doing my shopping for me. I really couldn't ask for better customer service.

My husband and I honestly took forever browsing and reading labels. The store manager was incredibly patient with us, even though we probably stayed way too long talking about the cheeses we wanted to try and reading through their recommended pairings pamphlet. She was so knowledgeable and helpful with all of our questions, and even mentioned that they could specialty order anything that might be out of stock for us. Because you can buy their cheese by the 1/4lb, we ended up mixing and matching a selection of five different cheeses and a few cured meats to sample. Everything was absolutely delicious, and they have some really unique flavors available. The wild ramp alpine cheddar was so different to anything I had before, and the truffle manchego cheese was completely packed with so much truffle. The shop is currently celebrating their 10 year anniversary, and I can absolutely see why. I've worked retail before and I know even if there aren't customers in the store, it doesn't mean you can't be busy. I could not find the bottle and approached the man at the counter who was happy to show me where it was (tucked back a little like the first three bottles had recently been purchased), then he also showed me a few other comparable wines. I've read some of the other reviews and I think it's strange that people want to bash a business for the employees not hovering. Personally, I'm pretty self sufficient when it comes to both shopping and wine and I prefer to browse WITHOUT someone hovering behind me, which was the experience I had here. If you need something and approach a staff member they seem very receptive, knowledgable and quick to respond, and that to me is service.

I can get good wine elsewhere without leaving feeling badly about the interaction. Too bad.
