Located in the Providence Square Shopping Center in Kempsville. The store is West side of the strip with excellent signage. The center is updated and has plenty of parking. No debris in the area or upon walk up. My arrival was just before noon and there was a line. Any bourbon hunter knows what this means. It's Monday truck day and some hard to find bottles are ready to be pillaged. I learned it was STAGG Jr. today which is rare. The store was clean and organized. All of the new stock was on shelves. The line was orderly and when opened precisely at 12 PM customers made their way to a box of 12 STAGG Jr. I got the next to last one. Price retail is just under $60. However secondary market hundreds. This was a great day for an elusive bourbon. Checkout was socially distanced with the staff protected by plexiglass. No issues with my gift card transaction. The clerk was friendly and knowledgeable. Another staff opened the door for my exit. This will not be a regular store with distance from my home. However if they have certain stock I cannot find elsewhere I have no issues visiting them again. I created a collection of area ABC stores that users may find helpful.

After finding a few…read morestate run alcohol stores not on Yelp I have made it my new mission to add and review everyone in Virginia Beach. Hey someone needs to do it right? Located in the Great Neck Village Shopping Center off Great Neck Road and Mill Dam. Customers will find plenty of parking and the lot was debris free. The walk was also tidy as the staff opened the door for me. This has been a new COVID policy to enforce mask use, but also nice to be greeted. The shop is on the smaller side, but packs a lot of inventory in too! The bourbon section which is where I always head straight to was decent, not overwhelming. I saw a few staples, but only one semi hard to find, Bookers which they had to my surprise seven bottles in their signature wood case. The layout is very straightforward and the staff has done a great job keeping the stock organized and business clean. I checked out with a Michters SB for $41. This bourbon is typically a great seller and readily available. Since Virginia controls their prices it's as close as a customer can often get to suggested retail. The staff was helpful and friendly. He offered a suggestion on a next purchase. This store will not be in my regular rotation. If they offer a more rare selection on a Monday shipment I may call to confirm product and pick up. Often rare items cannot be held. Check them out if in the area.

First time at this ABC store located off General Booth not far from Oceana Naval base…read more The store is positioned on the far left end of a strip with grocery store anchor Harris Teeter. Signage can be seen from the road. Parking lot was clean and spacious. There are also spaces closer to the business on the side I would recommend. I arrived at noon with my bourbon hunting brethren to get a rare bottle. However the line was long. Once opened the line was orderly and I missed out on my first choice. However my second was a strong hard to find Knob Creek 15 year. The store is on the smaller floor plan of ABC, however the bourbon area was good size. Two checkouts are available. I had no contact with staff other than checkout which was straight forward by credit card. This store is not close to where I reside and may or may not return. 3.5 rounding down.

I do like that they sell local. This past year it seems like employees have changed. It's an ok store. Kinda small and has a clutter feel. Just feel cramped. There are quite a few of these stores close to me and the other ones feel bigger and more helpful when you need help and have questions. My mine draw back is the store feels cramped compared to other stores.

I saw the sushi chef making them by hand when I came in. His name is EZ and he's the new sushi chef. He was friendly and answered all my questions about the ingredients, particularly which rolls were dairy free so I could get some for my wife too. I bought the Crunchy CA roll and ate it an hour later at work. It was good quality, pretty close to restaurant quality in my opinion. Very tasty and with the $6. They also had a great deal on Nature's Own Honeywheat bread ($1.49) going on through the weekend. Overall the location is very clean, the staff is nice, and I'll be back soon!

Having had a bad experiences when the store first opened I haven't made many stops in the years…read moresince. The grocer is located in Haygood Shopping Center on Independence Boulevard. The space has had a number of occupants over the years. When we moved to Virginia Beach, it was an A&P. That gave water to a Farm Fresh. Both were long term grocers who eventually went out of business. The space was emptied for a while as Haygood Shopping Center underwent a massive face lift in anticipation of Harris Teeter. Having previously shopped at their store near Sam's Club on Virginia Beach Boulevard I anticipated the opening. But the reality brought a lack of customer service in the spacious store with wide aisles. For years I never considered shopping at Harris Teeter. Lately I've reevaluated that choice. I've found they have my favorite flavor of high protein yogurt. Their produce is fresh & full of flavor. A big plus is their distilled water in the type of container that's easy to maneuver. It's also priced right. Harris Teeter is definitely is a step above a number of the chain grocers in Coastal Virginia. But it's a step below others, lacking the prepared or ready to prepare entrees that make life so much easier. I'm happy I rediscovered Harris Teeter. It's nice to add another store to my shopping mix.

Two hour parking is off street or nearby garage that's FREE! The area is nicely kept with sidewalks power washed weekly and windows washed weekly. I did spot debris outside their door however on my most recent visit. On November 10th the state of Virginia had a special bourbon release across the state. Formerly lottery bottles were available in all stores across the Old Dominion. I lined up early on a beautiful Fall day with others that became friends after six hours. The manager peeked out at around 8 AM and gave numbers out. She was terrific. I was #4 for Wellers Full Proof. It's retail $50, on the secondary market hundreds. At noon when the store opened everything was orderly and checkout was smooth. The cashier was friendly and wore a mask. The store is a smaller floor plan, but packs a punch on inventory, especially bourbon. It was a fun day learning more about bourbon and how to locate rare bottles from new friends that were much more knowledgeable than I. The Weller was incredible by the way.

It's a busy strip with nearby Chick Fil A. Surface parking is adequate. I really like the newer renovated ABC's and this one is not a disappointment. It's a large store with great amount of inventory. The bourbon section is adequate, but nothing mind blowing. A sales associate was stocking on my last visit and offered help. That elevates them for sure to above par. The store was clean and organized. I found a Sazreac Rye and checked out. I'm sure I will return.

Now to buy the mixes... there's no shortage on the variety of mixes here. Plenty to choose from! And some were even on sale! Pre-made margaritas are on sale for less than $19 per 1.75L. I also got a few nice bottles of rum ranging from $25-$40. I'm happy with my selection and the employees are super friendly. Checkout is quick and my cashier even loads almost all my bottles in a box for me. Mission accomplished for $200!

A couple of great visits to one of Virginia Beaches newest stores that opened during lockdown…read moreSpring of 2020. Few still even know they are there and the business is just off two busy roads. Find them in the Birdneck Shoppes in between Laskin & Virginia Beach Boulevard. The store is one of two anchors and signage is exceptionally good on the building. This Virginia ABC has a fresh new look and is inviting to customers. Parking is nearby and the lot has been clean. The interior although clean, bright and extremely organized with displays is a letdown on size. The bourbon area particularly has less shelf space than others. However still a strong inventory of favorites. They also have a refrigerator offering cold alcoholic items such as Jack Daniels Honey. What has elevated the store is their fabulous customer service from staff and female manager. Twice the manager has went above and beyond to assist me with harder to find allocated bottles. Although this is a store that I could easily drive to from my home it's not one that I will frequent with nearby Hilltop being superior on bourbon inventory. That should take nothing away from one of the newest and cleanest stores in Virginia Beach.
