I have a 2005 Chevrolet Uplander that I've owned since it was new. The check engine light was coming on and off all the time. We have a monitor plugged into the computer hookup that will tell us if the car is in motion, the speed, fuel gauge and the computer codes for the check engine light. So I knew the issues before I brought my vehicle to Virgils to get fixed. I called and spoke with Blake and made an appointment. The only complaint I have is that it took a long time for my vehicle to actually get looked at and repaired. That being said they were very fair with the pricing ($300 less than the dealer). In fact they could have nickled and dimed me to death but they didn't. I will be going back and I would reccomend this garage too anyone! 11/26/2019 I've now had Blake and his staff work on my vehicles multiple times. They really take their time to make sure you repair is done right. They will also attempt the least expensive fix first and will only charge you more if they have too. They are fair, ethical and trustworthy and they have proven it to me over and over! read more

To my surprise I haven't left a review here. My husband and I have been coming to this garage and relying on Blake's expertise for over ten years and am very thankful that I found this shop. I had previously tried other places and found most to over charge or really make you fear the "Check Engine" light when Blake basically calls it "the idiot Light," and for good reason. His shop has gone above and beyond any issues we've had with cars. My son started bringing his car here a few years back and he too has received good service and fair prices. They do provide a warranty on parts, which is very nice. I recently heard about an older client who had left his car to Blake in his will because of how he enjoyed his service over the years. I really sant give a review because I can't take my car there. Virgil's is booked out till One week from today. The man on the phone didn't even ask me what I needed. Some people like myself can't be without a car that long. They need a bigger garage or ALOT more help. I'm sorry I can't use them. I know their good. I won't go to Diamond Muffler anymore after 25 yrs. The owner put a $300 crank shaft sensor on my car and that isn't what it needed. They kept my car and NEVER could figure out what's wrong. He didn't even consider giving me a portion of the $300 back and he was well aware it did not fix my car. He said he would " research it over the weekend and never called me back. So I knew how good Virgil's is but seems they are very short of help or need more bays. Now I couldn't tell you who in this town to use for car repairs. read more

We own 8 vehicles, that's right I said 8. Any time we have a problem with one of our personal cars or the 5 trucks that we use for our family business the first person I call is Blake at Virgil's. He's got to be one of the last honest car repair guys on the planet. Several years ago he looked at my daughters first car, it needed a MO state inspection. He let me know that while everything passed, the brake lines were original and while they weren't leaking he said if it was his kids first car he'd want them replaced. These guys are fantastic. I trust them completely. They do the work that needs done very well. I never feel that I am being pressured into more than needs done. They are very conservative and honest when recommending repairs. They don't believe older cars should run perfectly and thereby present a long list of "nice to have's." With Virgil's, I no longer completely dread taking my car into a mechanic as I think I will at least be treated fairly and honestly. I'm a very happy customer of Virgil's Garage. I live some distance away but I don't mind a bit because when my car gets worked on here I know for sure I'm getting the work I need and it's always done right. I have to mention that the price is very customer friendly. My Dad had been doing business with Virgil's for quite some time and when I got a routine maintenance shock at the dealership Dad suggested I call Virgil's and comparison shop. Turns out the dealer can't begin to compete with Virgil's and my $1,000 dealership quote resulted in a $500 bill from Virgil's and I am not positive but I think that total includes an oil change too. I use 5 qts full synthetic. You can not imagine what has to happen to replace a timing belt in a 2007 Sportage but I can promise you, it's no easy task. If I could have ignored this until it actually broke I would have but in the case of my vehicle if it breaks my engine locks up. That makes my vehicle scrap metal. I'm still grateful for the recommendation and also that I found a great, honest mechanic. Everyone I've met there have been really nice people and they do great work.
