Really happy with my experience. Bob took me as a walk in, but making an appointment is best. I was in and out in maybe 20min. It's a bit like a time capsule in there and there's some cool things to look at while you wait. Total was $58.25. He said he hadn't raised his prices in nearly 20 years. This is my go to smog spot now. read more

Been going to VIP to smog my vehicles for about 7 years now. Robert is always very efficient and truthful. When my car doesnt pass he always has figured out the solution to getting the vehicle passed. Great service, would recommend highly to anyone. read more

Called around and spoke with a few smog shops in Yucca Valley and VIP smog was definitely the friendliest and most professional. I was lucky enough to book a same day appointment. Pricing was very competitive and I was in an out in less than 30 minutes. 10/10 would recommend to anyone. read more

I accidentally left my smog check to the last minute, but he called me back right away and got me in for the same day. I immediately felt comfortable and found the service to be very friendly and professional. (That has not been my experience at other smog check places in Yucca Valley) I will absolutely be back! Added bonus of a great location for a walk or a coffee if you need to wait. read more

Really friendly guy, straight forward service. I was in and out of there in 40 minutes. Highly recommend for a smog check!

Provided a smog check for me for the dmv registration. I had no problem making an appointment. He was open on the holiday for MLK Birthday Day. He charged less than the other local smog places in Yucca Valley area. The cost included the test and the certificate. He was right on time for my appointment. I was done in 30 minutes. Very professional, efficient and very nice service. Thank you! read more

Friendly, quick, easy, and informative. Very reasonable price and a nice guy. He made the smog process very simple.

I've always used VIP because it's quick and easy. The owner is nice and the price is always the same. He is knowledgeable and won't use jargon on you, he is straightforward and quick to get the job done. read more

I chose VIP because they have a large parking lot, and I have a Sprinter motor home and needed room to maneuver around. The Sprinter's chassis was built in 2016, and the custom rebuild was performed in 2017, so Bob wanted to ensure the dates were correct so the DMV wouldn't refuse the smog registration. He made some phone calls and stuck with it until he was satisfied it would go through. The end result: the DMV accepted his explanation, and I received my sticker. VIP is efficient, affordable, and professional. read more

Bob was friendly, professional, fast, and accommodating. I would recommend to VIP smog to anyone. He had me out with my certificate in about 20 minutes. read more

I would not recommend this shop to anyone. Bob did not scan my vehicle to verify if the monitors were cleared prior to him running a complete test and failing my vehicle. he just jumped into giving my girlfriend a failed certificate so he could charge 50$ and then reassured her that he would wave the retest fee and she would only have to pay 8$. well I guess he forgot about the deal he told me I'd have to pay another 58$ to retest and get a certification. Wow this is wild when I've never been treated like this at smog dog or smoggies. I'm actually a mechanic I thought the monitors were cleared my fault, but I know most shops scan the car and will not charge a customer unless the car is ready to smog... just don't go here save your money downtown shell in Palm Springs has a smog for 39.99 save your money don't go here! Thanks a lot Bob... honestly I get, it I didn't scan the car prior to smog but my girlfriend said he told her he would wave the retest feet thats why I'm upset... read more

Vip Smog - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Yucca Valley, California

I was needing to smog my car , however I work an 8-5 job and have an 1 hour commute to and from work. I googled smog locations and called locally to one I've seen in town . This was after 5pm . Someone answered to my surprise just based on most businesses closing around 5pm. Someone politely answered the owner named Bob . I explained to him my situation. He scheduled me an appointment based of my schedule and needs . He was kind , patient and listened . I showed up two days later . Job was done in less than 30 minutes! Thanks Bob :) read more

Great service. Called late morning, yet was able to get an appointment for the same afternoon. My vehicle is pre-1996, so requires a more extensive check. I was in exactly on time, and test complete with paperwork in hand exactly as promised 1 hr later. read more

Called this morning to have two vehicles smogged. He had a noon available appointment. Took them both in. He got the truck done and we left the other vehicle to pick up later (our choice). He called about 45 minutes later and the 2nd vehicle was completed. I walked in and was walking back out in less than 10 minutes. I could not ask for better service - he thanked us for bringing him work. The pricee was great. I highly recommend! They really treat their customers like VIPs. read more

Bob is amazing... This is the guy you want to go to if you have any electrical problem with your vehicle or you are having problems passing Smog... He is ultra professional, makes every effort to really diagnose the problem and help you solve your issue for the least amount of money possible. He totally goes the extra mile, I had a big issue with passing smog (got got up in California's 'smog referee' program, and he always made himself available when I had questions...more than a few times he spent at least 10 minutes on the phone with me trying to help. Time is money, but he freely gave his time trying to help me...and even followed up by phone to see how it went. I highly recommend Bob at VIP Smog! read more

My friend recommended Bob to me , and since I am not from the area, that was a helpful start. I dropped in because my van had not started that morning, and it was the 4th time i had had the issue wthin about 6 weeks(no response when turning the key). While I knew it was something in conjunction with the starter/relay system, I knew no more. Well, one thing more - that I HAD to get it looked at before heading nack cross country and having t not start for real somewhere out a hundred miles from the next mechanic at 8 o'clock on a Saturday night. Since I was a walk-in and he was with another person, Bob asked me to return in about an hour. Then, he went right to work and diagnosed the issue and repaired it readily. He was very good with communication, and explained things is layperson terms alongside the technical ones without so much as a hint of condescending attitude(which does happen at times). He even took the time to physically point out the area in reference. Sure I have had mechanics do that before, but it's NOT always the case. I will recommend VIP whenever asked about a mechanic in Yucca Valley, and since I am a rock climber and that town is right near a major climbing area, it's pretty likely that even from across the country, I will have that opportunity when someone comes to the climbing discussion forums asking for a referral. Yelpers have my solid recommendation that they are in good hands with Bob!. read more

I have been using Bob for a number of years and would highly recommend his service. Always able to get in after a phone call. I have picked up an International Scout II that I want Bob to go through and rewire, I thought of him when I was looking at and felt good about his ability to take on the job. p.s. Don't know why Yelp has decided to filter this review; it's genuine. Please remove the filter guys! read more

Stopped in after recycling, asked if I needed an appointment for a smog check. Had me on the machine 20 minutes later. Quaint, quiet place, but the owner was verbally thankful for the business! And we passed! Win, win. read more

This is my new go to place for smog. Quick and easy and the owner really appreciates your business when other places make you feel like they are doing you a favor. read more

Do not trust Robert "Bob" Garcia and his wife. I made an appointment for a smog check and it was started a half hour late. After he finishes the test he tells me everything passed but the gas cap and that I have to buy an over priced cap from him or I can't pass the test. He wouldn't let me go buy another one so I had to wait another 20 minutes for a cap to be delivered. So on top of making me late for the DMV he scammed an extra 25 dollars from me. It was a brand new gas cap so I know he's lying. He did the same exact thing to the customer before me. Seriously, do not trust this scammer. read more

I've been getting my car and truck smogged here for the past 2 years. Great prices, fast service, and I love supporting local businesses.

Came in last minute with no appointment and had the Best smog check service I have experienced in the Morongo Basin. Thank you

After a frustrating day Dealing with the DMV and having to pay some Tickets in order to try and renew my wife's registration which completely blind-sided me.. ( Wives and their damn tickets!! AHHHH).. I was told that our Vehicle needed a new Smog Check. I was just about to say F this all to heck.. but I had to go to Yucca Valley to buy some food for the Critters and we looked for a place to get the smog checked. stopped behind the Starbucks and talked to a guy at the Quick Lube who recommended this place to us. he said that he was the cheapest ( price wise ) and thorough mechanic in the area. Of course we took this with a grain of salt. We arrived here to find the guy working in his garage.. Now at first mopst people may be put off by the appearance of this establishment but this is an all american GARAGE DAMNIT!! ha. sure a little dusty some clutter and the smell of .. well. Garage and MANLINESS.. it just seemed like a typical pops place.. where men do real manly work. any way we talked to a very nice Man ( Robert Garcia I believe was his name) who took care of us right there and then .. he said it would take about 30 minutes for the full check up and get our papers/certificate out the door. He lied!!! we were out in almost 15.. He was very quick and made a very frustrating day a little more bearable to deal with. the whole thing was only about 58 dollars. talk about a deal! I highly recommend this place. Quick , easy, HONEST work at fair Prices!! read more
