Batting your eyes is useless if you don't have full, long lashes…read more I mean, then it wouldn' t be batting your eyes, it'd be called blinking. I just tried out eyelash extensions thanks to Jen from Beau Ideal House of Beauty and I have to say, I'm in love with the results. My eyes look amazing if I do say so myself. Being a new full time mom means I don't have as much time as I want/need/deserve, so being able to walk out the door with just lipgloss is a major perk. My eyes don't need mascara anymore or eyeliner. The added silk lashes replace both those products perfectly. I opted for the more natural look which I found to be the perfect amount of lashes (about 80 on each eye). It doesn't look fake...just like I'm really rich in the gorgeous eyelash department. I definitely recommend giving Jen and the extensions a try....after all, the eyes are the windows to the soul...and that window should look as amazing as possible, right? ;)

I enlisted the help of Licensed Aesthetician Jennifer Woehle of Beau Ideal House of Beauty to take my lashes from drab to fab. A little back story on Jennifer: She travels between L.A., New York and Miami on a 3-week rotation and she's only available by appointment (she works out of Brownes & Co. South Beach & Design District locations). Jennifer was a totes pro and my initial full set of lashes cost $295 and 2 hours of lying still like a corpse (a major accomplishment for this Energizer Bunny). The process doesn't hurt at all -- you've just got to lay still as Jennifer does her thang (so I counsel not coffee-ing it up or 5-energy houring or whatever your crack of choice is beforehand). Follow-up visits (recommended every 3 weeks) will take 1 hour and about $89. Jen meticulously bonds one single extension (in multiple sizes) to every single eyelash -- and when applied correctly, they don't harm your natural lash. The end result? Lashes for days. The kind of lashes to rival those of Twiggy. Lashes so lush, thick and beautiful, you'll never need mascara again! Jen will be back in Miami Nov. 10, 16 and 17, so to book her call, 650-741-LASH. Tip: Never use oil-based cleansers when you have eyelash extensions...they're the kiss of death!

Less than a week later 2/16 my nails began to chip, since I was leaving that morning for the airport I couldn't go in. I was okay to handle the chips, but by the end of the trip on that Monday my whole thumb nail polish came off. So I went into the spa and spoke with the owner/manager. She said I should have came in after I already told her I was out of the country and unable. Also, she said I should have text her. With what number? I am sure the spa's phone does not receive texts. The owner/manager said she could give me 1/2 off to get my nails fixed. So I'm supposed to pay more for a crappy dip job? I have had dips last for month, this one couldn't even make it to 7 full days. She went on to say the lady who did my job wasn't there and we would have to arrange a time for her to redo them and if I waited for her it would be free since I already paid. First off, why would I want her to do my nails again since she didn't do it right the first time? The only thing good was the nail techs saw how bad and offered to fix them for free. Shouldn't that have been what the owner/manager should have done and not have her techs taking care of the problem? It's a shame. I live down the street and it's the closest nail salon to my apartment. They just lost a loyal customer and I would rather drive to a place in SOBE traffic or walk to a place that can do a dip that lasts. Also, when I left after speaking with them more of the polish began coming off.
