Tucked away in the small strip mall across from the entrance to the Jiffy Lube and Crew Car Wash is a nice place to check for your vinyl needs! After pulling into the shared lot, I entered the shop with the checkout counter on the right as you enter. The rest of the shop was filled with rows of albums (and some 45's) arranged by genre. As I browsed through the rock section, I noticed that all albums seemed to be wrapped in a plastic sleeve with the actual vinyl in the inner paper sleeve removed from the cardboard cover to show that the record was complete. Many of the covers had "new" labels on them, so I assume that meant they would be scratch free. The plastic sleeve was folded over and sealed with a bar code label that had the price for each album. The range for albums I checked out ran from around $5 to into the $20+ range depending upon the demand. (Some are even higher, but that's to be expected for hard to find or collectible editions.) There were also other genres and I was pleased to see so many artists, including independent ones, represented. No, they don't have every album, but that is probably limited by size of the store as much as anything. Still, you are free to browse and when asked, the owner was helpful. If you are building (or rebuilding) your vinyl collection, add this shop to your places to explore. Review #3525

I love music. And I love, adore and worship records. Yeah, vinyl. I always have and always will. Scratches, crackles & pops while listening to my albums? Doesn't bother me one iota. I can't even begin to explain my giddy excitement when I was driving down 135 South one day recently and saw the "Vinyl" sign. I nearly wrecked. This store is absolutely awesome. If you collect vinyl, just started buying vinyl, or are interested in purchasing a turntable (also sold here) so that you can begin buying & listening to records then THIS IS YOUR PLACE! I've been here a few times now, taken my time perusing the vinyl, and made new & used record album purchases at what I feel are very reasonable prices. Plus, I keep forgetting to ask the owner, but I believe he uses some special machinery on each & every used record to restore it into practically new condition. All of the used vinyl I've purchased sounds great. Not to mention, the album covers being in excellent condition and the album cover being enclosed in a protective sleeve. The owner (an extremely nice and humble guy) has a FB page for his shop which I highly recommend following because he has daily posts listing the new inventory that he's taken in and he posts some really cool songs/videos. If any of this interests you (I hope so) then check this place out!

Nice selection. Friendly staff. Wide range of new and used (not as much used as I had hoped though).

Since the first time we showed up til this day, there's always someone on the floor ensuring proper service and offering anything they can to elevate your experience. The selection is wonderful and at a great $ for the consumer. Hoping to get my brother a nice tour of the place when he visits, it's a must stop for any music lover.

Apparently, many people knew, because Karma has been around since 1970, and it's the oldest record store in Indianapolis. OK! I'm obviously late to the game. Usually, I visit record stores just to browse, but this time, I visited to find a specific album. But when I asked the kind people behind the counter to look up the album for me, I found out the album that I had in mind was actually out of print! So I could order it online, but it would cost like five hundred dollars or some obscene amount. The helpful people at Karma offered to order other albums by the same artist. But I didn't want that, and instead just browsed the selection of records that Karma. There are a lot of records here. Surely, if you're not dead set on a specific out-of-print record like me, you will find something here. They also have CDs. And the cool people at Karma are willing to order whatever you want (assuming it's not out of print), and it will show up at the shop a few days later. Man, you didn't ask, but this place smells like incense, I tell you what. Which is appropriate, I guess, because they sell incense here. I just mention in case you're sensitive to incense.

Updating my review of Luna Music and bumping it up from four stars to five. This is because a) Luna…read moredeserves all five stars; and b) it's been nine (!!) years since my last review. In my last review, I think I complained about being a tired mom with macaroni and cheese stains on my pants. Well, nine years later, I'm still a mom but fortunately less tired, the stains on my pants are from red wine and vegan tzatziki, and the kids I made macaroni and cheese for have grown up and are very interested in music. And they ask me to take them to Luna Music. I'm always happy to oblige. My oldest kid love Luna Music because he can find albums for the bands that he listens to. Bands and artists that are not on my radar at all (Blood Orange? Anyone, anyone? Bueller?), but he loves them, and it makes him happy to find them here in vinyl. Luna has a lot of new music on vinyl. This is the place to visit in Indianapolis if you're looking for any kind of new music. They are on top of it. In fact, I subscribe to their weekly newsletter just to keep abreast of the new music that drops every week. Luna Music keeps me young and able to relate to my children, who have astounding musical taste for their age. Luna skews toward records, but they also have a smaller selection of used CDs, as well as a collection of used cassette tapes that are smaller still. You can also find zines, local artwork, greeting cards, record players and other fun things. The people who work here are super friendly and not at all snobby. There are no Jack-Black-from-High-Fidelity people here!

It has all kinds of tchotchkes, doodads, baubles, trinkets and other old and unique miscellany. The store is separated into booths, and there are different things in each booth. I saw all kinds of things that I wanted, but I had to physically stop myself from buying some of the vintage milk glass mugs. No one needs a milk glass mug with a buffalo on it, but the heart wants what the heart wants, sometimes. If you leave the main building and walk outside, and then turn to the right, you will see the second building: Route 46 Vintage. This vintage store deserves its own review, so you can read my separate review for that. But I'll just say that this is where you'll find funky vintage clothing and accessories. Then, there's a little shed-looking building that has more antiques and fun stuff, and also handmade goods from local artisans. Basically, the Brown County Antique Mall is a little campus full of eclectic treasures. You can definitely spend an hour or so here (or more!) looking through all of the stuff and buying all the things.

So we are definitely going back to this shop to check out what we missed and to see what new items were added by the vendors. The building we did see was a good size and the variety abounds. I love costume jewelry and was able to find several pieces that I liked and I brought home. There were big outdoor items on the front porch when we walked up. The place is right on the highway and easy to get to with adequate parking. The prices in the booths varied greatly with some being very reasonable and some I thought were high but I think that is the same as most antique/vintage stores of this type. We had a lot of fun shopping there and when we checked out the cashier was nice and helpful and told us about a couple store policies that we asked about. I will attach a lot of pics to show the variety here.

It also buys these things, too, if you have any physical-media treasures lying around that you wanna make a buck from. The record shop is tidy and well curated. If I had a record player, I would have picked up a couple of gems. Alas, I do not! Why do I keep visiting record stores if I don't have a record player? Some would say I'm a glutton for punishment. But I like to think that I'm slowly manifesting a record player, and also, I just like to be around physical media, sometimes. It's nice to hold a thing that produces music in your hands, or look at the liner notes of a CD. Take Care Records also sells DVDs, like I mentioned. These, too, are well curated. I saw many obscure indie films, and a few concert DVDs, and films that I haven't watched in a while but would totally add to my collection. Although the joint isn't huge, there are a lot of gems everywhere you look, so this is definitely a place to check out if you're into collecting music, movies or other media. One thing to note about Take Care is that it is only open Thursday-Sunday! It's located in the same shopping center as Some Guys, and across the street from Taylor's Bakery. Lots of parking!

As of my review its a new record store that sells new and used records, books and some old school nostalgic VHS. The owner is super nice and the store is so colorful and fun to walk around and browse the records. I think the collection is still growing so its worth multiple visits. Their prices are comparable to other record stores around the area.
