OH MAMA! You'll need a minimum of 90 minutes to even walk the whole place while glancing around. I was in this part of town for another reason and was looking for something to do on a Saturday afternoon. I decided to stop in and ended up spending a glorious 2+ hours scouring the shelves. I even skipped anything in cases just to draw a line somewhere and prevent myself from moving in...which I was tempted to do. It's very well-attended; the entire lot was full, but I got a spot as someone left, and because the place is so big you are still able to browse without getting in the way of others. read more

I've frequented lots of antique shops and I'd have to say this one is one of the less organized places I've been. It just didn't have a clean fresh smell inside that I've been accustomed to with the places I've visited. I am, however, excited to visit when it's warmer to check out their garden barn. I did find a depression glass flower frog, so that made the day a win. The workers were friendly and helpful. I will visit again to check out the barn and explore inside it! read more

I have passed Gilley's multiple times and finally made the decision to stop. Why have I been sleeping on it so long?! This place is the ultimate treasure hunt. Don't go in looking for something specific, wait for Gilley's to tell you what you need. From decor to snacks to antique toys, vintage clothing, books, records, this place as it all. Plan a few hours to treasure hunt, because this store is loaded. Surprisingly, it is very organized and well divided. Lots of close parking, making it convenient to bring purchases right to the car. Would be wearing of a stroller or small children in general since there are tight aisles with fragile goods. Would absolutely recommend making a fun day out of a treasure hunting experience! read more

What an amazing place! If you like antique malls and live anywhere close to Gilley's I highly suggest you visit. I was in the area and decided to stop by as I had a few minutes to waste. We decided to stop into Gilley's on our way home from DePauw Nature Park. I was shocked how big the main building was, I was not anticipating that much space to go through. There were a few very friendly staff members walking around ready & willing to help. I interacted with 2 of them and they were both very friendly & helpful. Even though there was a lot, actually so much stuff! I wasn't able to find anything in the areas I collect which mostly entail Native American items (jewelry, pottery, fetishes). I believe they had a good selection items and the prices seemed reasonable. After we left the main building we went to the barn but I asked at the counter regarding my area of interest and the lady working at the counter could not recall that any of the booths carried any. Because we were already tired from our hiking and then touring the big building we left. They had a fair amount of cars in the lot yet I didn't feel it was too crowded inside. The employee in the main building said business had picked up significantly since reopening after the Covid closure (more than prior to Covid). She has worked there for 6 years, she said business seemed better than ever. read more

This place is huge and has plenty of parking so that if you make a purchase, you won't have to haul it very far. This was my first time visit, so after entering the spacious lobby/checkout area, I chose to go to the right to check out the "Decorator Mall" side of the place. Here was a variety of knick knacks, wall hangings, and seasonal items to add a bit of style or flair to your home. The aisles were clear, but I did need to say "excuse me" to get around clusters of shoppers who tend to forget anyone else is browsing. The other side of the place (even larger) is the Antique Mall. This was a little less organized, but manageable. Here were more collectibles and antiques than I saw on the other side. Some of the stuff made me scratch my head why it was there (an empty Sun King can for $3?), but other items looked like the type of stuff you could pick up for your collections. Lots of dishware, books and music sources, and quite a bit of nostalgia items that I remember (mid 20th century items), but not in the best of condition were noticed. I spent an hour here and only got through 1/4 of it! Basically, this place is huge. The old-crap lover in me was thoroughly satisfied, and I saw lots of mid-century modern pieces, which is my favorite. The aisles can be tight, so navigating a stroller through this place can be tricky. It's best to just not bring kids here, because there are so many fragile things at kid-eye-level. At the front of the store is an eating area with table to sit at. There are small snacks to purchase -- chips and cookies and whatnot. read more

If you like flea markets and you haven't been to Gilley's out on West Highway 40, past Plainfield, then you really haven't been to a flea market! It looks daily big on the outside, but when you get inside you will find out that it's enormous. You walk and walk and twist and turn. When you think you're done you find another room with more and more aisles with booths and lots of glass cases. I am certain that no matter how much time you spend at Gilley's, there is no way to see everything that's for sale there. I saw beautiful jewelry, a lot of old vintage furniture, all types of jewelry. Some jewelry was valuable, some was just fun. There was old guns, plenty of knives for fishing, hunting, and collecting. Musical instruments? Yes! Those too. Just walk and look. You just might find something special. Come check out Gilley's!! I highly recommend it. read more

I saw an ad for a chair. I WANTED IT! It was spectacular. I contacted the seller. She contacted the office. A "hold" was put on it. I went the next day to get it! Oh my gosh! It was even better in person. A lovely gentleman carried it to the office for me. He waited while I paid. Then he carried it out for me IN THE POURING RAIN. The ladies at the office were SO nice, and so very accommodating. A first class establishment, with LOTS of delightful antiques. read more

We drove 2 and a half hours this morning to visit Billy's. First, the expressways around Indianapolis are all under construction and major interchanges are closed, so if you are coming from east or north, check access. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Not as much furniture as I expected to see, based on other reviews. If you are looking for 50s tablecloths, you've hit the jack pot. Unusually, my husband did not find anything of interest, although, of course, the two boys did, and I found a booth chock full of fat quarters to use for quilting. read more

I've been to Gilley's many times and love how they have it set up. You could get lost in there which I did trying to find my way out. This place is so much fun to visit - regardless if you are a serious collector of something (Trust me they have it here) or if you are just a wanderer - you will find something. The store is broken into multiple sections and the area to the right is your more "modern" decor - farmhouse items, candles, etc. To the left is your classic antique dealer. Many of the dealers have a certain theme to their booth so if you are looking for glass, you'll find that. Books/records - there is a dealer for that too. Be prepared to spend some time here (2 hours?) if you want to look at it all. Also - they do have soda and snacks for sale at the front if you need refreshment. Also - don't be afraid to ask for a better deal - it is an antique shop. Finally - if you see something you like - they will hold it up at the counter for you while you keep shopping! Gilley's is pretty darn big. It has an excellent selection. There really is something for everyone here. If you find something in a locked case, have no fear! There is a constant stream of employees floating around to help you out. They will then take your item up to the counter for you as well as give you a clothespin with your shopping bin number on it. As we shopped around, I found two awesome finds in locked cases. It took less than 5 minutes for each case to be unlocked and my purchases to be placed in my bin. I found a really cool Airstream camper-type necklace as well as an antique-like cast iron Boston terrier statue unlike any I had ever seen before. So, I was pretty stoked. The staff can get a little over-eager at times. There were a couple of instances where we had JUST picked up an item to look at it, and they were already asking us if we wanted it put in our bin. It was slightly annoying, but I am glad that they were around to help us should we have needed it. They didn't know. I can't believe it had been so long since our last visit. I hadn't been here in 10 or so years, and evidently all I've missed is the steady decline of a not-to-be-missed antique mall into some covered bridge festival/ low-rent craft fair crap. Sorry to be harsh, but the contrast of how it USED to be, as to how it is now was just jarring and disappointing. People still talk about this place like it's still such a great place. It isn't if you are wanting to do some antique hunting. And overpriced! Geez, Louise, are the sellers here proud of their stuff! Gilley's is a popular antique mall just a couple minutes west of Plainfield. The mall is row after row of vendors selling practically anything you could want. Several vendors carry vintage clothes, knives, vintage home décor, glassware, comic books, military items, clocks, watches and most of the popular collectables. A few vendor spaces have been tossed by customers and not as organized as you'd like but still if you are a real shopper it doesn't stop you. Many rows of well lite glass cases to browse and you can grab a customer number as you enter or wait till you find something. Staff walk around an answer questions, take your items to the front counter and open cases if you want to see something. Friendly staff and will help you find what you're looking for or at least where it might be. If you need to return to pick up an item purchased, they have a holding area for sold items. read more

I've been coming to Gilley's since I moved to Avon two years ago, and unlike some previous reviewers, I've never had a bad experience here. Gilley's is a huge antique mall just west of downtown Plainfield. It's a great place to find just about anything for a reasonable price. I've purchased several pieces of furniture from Gilley's, all for a much better deal than some other fun antique malls (Midland Antiques, I'm looking at you). On the one occasion I did ask them to come down on price (a mid-century modern bedroom suite), they had no problem immediately calling the vendor and speaking with her. I've also purchased pieces priced well below what they were going for on eBay, which is always exciting (though probably rare). So excited that you grabbed ten fragile items and you're trying to figure out how to properly juggle them in your tiny, T-Rex arms? Have no fear! A Gilley's employee is probably just around the corner to take your items off your hands and set them up front for you in a designated bin. It's even a fun place if you've got nothing to do on a Saturday and don't feel like spending any money. I'll continue to browse and furnish my little home with goods from Gilley's! read more

Great antique mall. I go here several times a year. It will take 2+ hours to navigate fully. The staff are very friendly. They've reached out to the vendors when prices weren't on an item. The variety of vendors is nice as well, something for everyone! Also, there are always very few empty/open booths which is also a plus. At certain times of the year they do annual sales (each vendor has their own discount), so get on their mailing list. We always go during the Christmas time open house. They will have food treats, beverages, and a raffle to win a gift card. Recent plus: they renovated their restrooms! Finally :-) please visit and support this great antique store. read more

As a true antique freak, I've been to hundreds and hundreds of malls around the country, and this is up there in my top favs. Really good quality booths without being so overly curated that prices are outrageous. In fact, I bought WAY more than I anticipated because my items were so affordable. On top of that, the staff is friendly and super helpful. They even, without being asked, carried my stuff to my car for me. This place is a must stop. I'll be back for sure! read more

Growing up in Plainfield, I thought Gilley's was just a "normal" antique mall. After venturing out into the world a bit, I can report that Gilley's is not just average, Gilley's is amazing. Gilley's is huge, with a great selection of both antiques, vintage, & decorating items. You could literally spend almost a whole day, aimlessly roaming up & down the aisles at Gilley's. If you are going to visit, you want to set aside a minimum of an hour, and know that you still might not see everything. We typically find 1-2 items each time we go, & could easily snag more. Know that the majority of the items are sold in the "booth" set-up, where booth operators come in once a week or so to arrange/maintain their displays. Therefore, there's not a lot of negotiation on price or anything here. The booth owners are typically not on-site, and you can't haggle. This isn't a flea market. With that understanding, for the most part the booth owners set really fair prices on most items, and there are some serious deals to be found here. A trip to Gilley's is a great "rainy day" activity, when you want to get some steps in inside. Even if you don't find anything you want, it's a great trip through time. read more

I also thought this was a great place to come and enjoy antiques and shopping Until I had a very disturbing incident happen. I purchased several items and they were taken to the front counter. When I went to pay they were packaged already, I went home and to my complete dismay there were items missing from what I had viewed and purchased.( a lot of jewelry in a box) I called the store thinking something fell out and was told "items were removed and were not supposed to be part of that box" So with out my knowledge a " BAIT and SWITCH" was pulled on me! So I thought I was buying one thing and was sold something quite different! I asked for a refund and was denied. I tried to resolve this but had to resort to police intervention and have filed a fraud complaint- My advice is BE VERY CAREFUL! There are dishonest people Who will cheat you. read more

What a great gem :). This place is huge! It took me easily an hour to walk through all the rooms of furniture. I asked several questions of the employees about the pieces and they contacted the vendors in a timely manner to answer them for me. I bought two beautiful vintage solid cherry nightstands for my guest room that I love!!! $260 total for both pieces! I saw the same nightstand on ebay listed for $495 just for one. The quality surpasses many new pieces you would see in the 400-500 range. I was highly impressed. If it were closer to me I would go more often but it was definitely worth the 10mi drive to go there. Go when you have time to take it all in b/c holy smokes it's a huge store! Your patience/time will undoubtedly pay off with something good though. read more

We went to Gilley's for an afternoon fun. We found couple of items and decided on one item. 6 cups and a coffee mug tree. We just wanted the cups and not the tree. Eventually, we started to venture more around the mall and all of the sudden we were being rushed out the mall. They were closing and they were announcing we will be closing every five minutes. Who does that? So we decided to go up and pay. We were greeted by a gentleman name Jeff. So, we ask if he can call the owner of the booth and ask if we can just buy the cups and not the tree. No we will not do that, so we said obviously he doesn't want to. He got snappy with us and ask if we wanted the items or not. We said, we are not arguing with you about it. So he said, if we call the owners, we will be doing that all day. We are not about to do that. This is the only antique shop I have been to that does not want to barter. Anyways, he proceeded to be rude. So we paid for our items and he packaged them up and handed it to us and said here you go.. No thank you, no have a nice day. Dude, you need to go and learn CUSTOMER SERVICE. This is the second time we have been treated badly by the employees at this establishment. We will not be coming back and I encourage others not to do so as well. read more

I believe we were the victims of deceptive business practices while making a purchase on 10/6/13. I also think I was treated rudely by management when I made a complaint. Brief explanation....While there (one of many trips) I made purchases totaling over 189.00. When I got home we looked through the items and it was apparent part of an item(2 pieces) was missing. Nothing was said about having to separate anything. I called and spoke to someone that very day about it. They gave me this bizarre reason why they "thought" the display stand that went with a decorative plate was not there. I challenged this explanation and was told the store was actually closed, but a manager would call me the next day( Monday). I did not hear anything back at all and initiated a call late Monday afternoon and got the manager on the phone. This was her explanation: The plate was sold separately, the vendor chose to use the stand only to display the item...it was not for sale. I told her that she must be kidding.....I am 62 years old, have been to countless antique shops, auctions, garage sales, flea markets etc. and have seen many items similar to the one in question....and NEVER have I seen a purposed "display" plate sold separately when the stand was available and being used to display the item! She started being very condescending at that point in time....I asked that a picture be taken and sent to my email. Sure enough, a photo was sent over with a view of a stand with a sticker that said not for sale...no text at all just a photo. As I said condescending attitude! Would you look for a tag on a two piece item like that? I'll tell you what....none of my antiquer friends that I polled would have. The purchase price was $3.95, even if it had the stand ....that was a little pricey! It is a very small display plate with a "duck" theme. But my girlfriend liked it.....and her birthday was the next day.......I need a stick of gum to chew to take the bad taste out of my mouth over this experience.....would I shop there again? 10-10-2014 i took a tag from an item to front counter to buy a hutch today, i was given a clothespin to hold item, so i told employee i am going to parking lot to pay the movers, i willget another piece as well if i can fit in truck., so i go outside and pay the movers that had come to get the item. after i went to parking lot to pay the guys with the truck to haul it home, i then went back inside and got another item ( church pew $195) to add to my sale...new employee tried to tell emil that i was buying these items and employee was ignored, emil then takes a different customer to another counter ( away from me at the counter ) and sells hutch to her, then emil comes right over to me and says " i make mistake, i sold item to someone else "...and all of this happens while i'm standing at counter to pay for my items in the first place !!!...so i'm out $50 for a moving truck , and i get nothing but an excuse...and i'm a dealer at gilley's mall that pays rent there every month, i would hate to see how they treat customers these days...needless to say , i didn't buy the church pew after this, so that dealers is out $195 sale for that item this mall has a policy that if mall employees make a mistake, the mall makes it right, customers or dealers don't pay for the mall's mistakes i know...i used to work there as an employee. honestly, i want my hutch emil, you should not have sold the item when you and brenda knew what i was standing at the counter waiting to pay for it in the first place, the least you could have done was refund the lady's purchase on the hutch instead of trying to smoke one by me and blow everything off and leave me with a $50 moving truck loss like that, but you didn't even try to mkae things righ, so the least you can do is to give me my $50 back for the moving truck. which i will be coming back to get taken off my booth rent in the morning on 10-11-14...or my $$$ mike read more
