I have passed Gilley's multiple times and finally made the decision to stop. Why have I been sleeping on it so long?! This place is the ultimate treasure hunt. Don't go in looking for something specific, wait for Gilley's to tell you what you need. From decor to snacks to antique toys, vintage clothing, books, records, this place as it all. Plan a few hours to treasure hunt, because this store is loaded. Surprisingly, it is very organized and well divided. Lots of close parking, making it convenient to bring purchases right to the car. Would be wearing of a stroller or small children in general since there are tight aisles with fragile goods. Would absolutely recommend making a fun day out of a treasure hunting experience!

We decided to stop into Gilley's on our way home from DePauw Nature Park. I was shocked how big the main building was, I was not anticipating that much space to go through. There were a few very friendly staff members walking around ready & willing to help. I interacted with 2 of them and they were both very friendly & helpful. Even though there was a lot, actually so much stuff! I wasn't able to find anything in the areas I collect which mostly entail Native American items (jewelry, pottery, fetishes). I believe they had a good selection items and the prices seemed reasonable. After we left the main building we went to the barn but I asked at the counter regarding my area of interest and the lady working at the counter could not recall that any of the booths carried any. Because we were already tired from our hiking and then touring the big building we left. They had a fair amount of cars in the lot yet I didn't feel it was too crowded inside. The employee in the main building said business had picked up significantly since reopening after the Covid closure (more than prior to Covid). She has worked there for 6 years, she said business seemed better than ever.

Gilley's is one of my favorite places to be. The mall goes on for ages, in the best way! There is just about everything you could ever look for. If you're looking for an indoor adventure that could last all day, definitely visit Gilley's. There is always plenty of parking outside!

This place is huge and has plenty of parking so that if you make a purchase, you won't have to haul it very far. This was my first time visit, so after entering the spacious lobby/checkout area, I chose to go to the right to check out the "Decorator Mall" side of the place. Here was a variety of knick knacks, wall hangings, and seasonal items to add a bit of style or flair to your home. The aisles were clear, but I did need to say "excuse me" to get around clusters of shoppers who tend to forget anyone else is browsing. The other side of the place (even larger) is the Antique Mall. This was a little less organized, but manageable. Here were more collectibles and antiques than I saw on the other side. Some of the stuff made me scratch my head why it was there (an empty Sun King can for $3?), but other items looked like the type of stuff you could pick up for your collections. Lots of dishware, books and music sources, and quite a bit of nostalgia items that I remember (mid 20th century items), but not in the best of condition were noticed. Plan to allow yourself plenty of time to browse since just the walking will take you awhile even without stopping to snoop. Review #1958

I spent an hour here and only got through 1/4 of it! Basically, this place is huge. The old-crap lover in me was thoroughly satisfied, and I saw lots of mid-century modern pieces, which is my favorite. The aisles can be tight, so navigating a stroller through this place can be tricky. It's best to just not bring kids here, because there are so many fragile things at kid-eye-level. At the front of the store is an eating area with table to sit at. There are small snacks to purchase -- chips and cookies and whatnot.

If you like flea markets and you haven't been to Gilley's out on West Highway 40, past Plainfield, then you really haven't been to a flea market! It looks daily big on the outside, but when you get inside you will find out that it's enormous. You walk and walk and twist and turn. When you think you're done you find another room with more and more aisles with booths and lots of glass cases. I am certain that no matter how much time you spend at Gilley's, there is no way to see everything that's for sale there. I saw beautiful jewelry, a lot of old vintage furniture, all types of jewelry. Some jewelry was valuable, some was just fun. There was old guns, plenty of knives for fishing, hunting, and collecting. Musical instruments? Yes! Those too. Just walk and look. You just might find something special. Come check out Gilley's!! I highly recommend it.

Several bathroom vanities ranging in size from 24" to 72" were in the shop. Several cabinets that appeared they could be customized as a bathroom vanity. Nice mixture of furniture paint colors and styles. When I was in the first time she was working with a contractor and a furniture painter to customize a cabinet for a client. It appears this is something they do if you need a specific piece or color. She also will keep an eye out for individual items you are searching for. The woman, the owner?, was very friendly but I didn't get a chance to ask many questions. Just basically what I was looking for that day but she didn't have anything similar. However, many other items that would add a fresh look for Spring and Summer. Lots of cool home decor, great displays and ideas. It has a farm house style for a lot of the items; there's even a mounted deer's head on the wall. It has a different sense of space than most home decor places. But if you decorate in this style, it pays to look at all the shelves since they are loaded with goodies that you don't see in the big box places. Note: If you stop by, there are some cool historic photos of old Plainfield on the walls. Pleasant shop with friendly service that doesn't bother you while you browse. Review #2601

I enjoy browsing Outta the Shed in Plainfied because the staff is so friendly, and the items are clean, quality pieces, and booths are restocked often. The shop smells amazing from the moment you walk in. All types of candles and melts are to the left as you enter and throughout the shop. This trip, I was looking for a few new pieces to refresh my home after removing my Christmas decoration and taking back to storage. My home always feels bare and not as cozy after removing the Christmas decor. My main reason for running around in this bitter cold is to add more greenery, maybe some new artwork (looking for botanicals), and maybe some new throw pillows for additional accent colors. The prices are reasonable, so I can afford to replace smaller accent items when I tire of them. I only picked up two new candles and 3 packages of candle melts today, but I took pictures of several items I could use. The items change often, so I need to pop back in soon after they restock with new items. Affordable, unique pieces, collectibles, antiques, linens, cookware, purses, hats, with a dedicated area for current and vintage jewelry and clothing with numerous jeans, and a variety of boots and shoes. If your home is decorated in one of the above-mentioned styles, stop in the shop.

They have some nice stuff here, including a lot more furniture than I expected. They have more room upstairs for browsing too. But the barn seems small compared to the antique mall next door, so unless there is something here that screams "Buy me!", it's kind of hard to rate it higher. Be aware that this is an old barn and has a raised center aisle to walk on. That means low head clearance for air ducts, so watch out. Also, if you are rubber-necking and not looking down, the step down into the rooms/booths on the first floor is large (maybe a 10" drop!) and it would be easy to stumble if you aren't paying attention. Fortunately, the owner did mark the steps in yellow and write "Step" on the ground, but who looks down when you are surrounded by stuff at eye level? I guess I should have. On the positive side, there were some beautiful furniture pieces and a really cool store counter that had shelves that extend all the way through the counter, having a display window on the outside of the piece. This allowed you to see what was in the drawer as a purchaser. Not sure what you would do with this at home, but it was an ingenious piece of Americana. Review #1959
