Talk about a discovery! Only found out about this store at the start of the month through a trip to…read moredowntown Brockport and just by the name of the store, I knew this would be the right store. It's a very small store, but strangely enough, it's quite spacious for it being filled with media materials. When you walk in, there is a bin full of bargain DVD's/CD's that are marked down from their original prices. To the left you'll find the DVD's new and used. The new DVD's will be placed in one of those plastic browser packs while the used ones will just be on their own, the owner keeps the used DVD's behind the counter. The majority of the store is dominated by CD's, Vinyl and Cassettes. On the front counter sits a large load of used CD's ranging from $0.99 to $9.99 or even higher depending on the CD. These are guaranteed and if they don't work, you are able to bring them back. However, the only problem with having them on the counter is that the face up side labels get sun-faded. If you don't have a problem with that, then just ignore what I said! If you do though, it's not a big worry, the actual booklet and other sides of the insert are fine. Also on the counter are a bin of CD's that are really cheap, mostly $0.99 to $3.99 and mostly consist of jazz and compilation cd's in addition to cd's that eventually weren't selling and were marked down from their original asking price. In the back are the cd's in the browser packs that run a bit more money out of your pocket but there are still cheap ones thrown in the mix. These CD's are usually in great condition and are free of scratches. Vinyl records can also be found here but unless you are a die-hard record collector, it doesn't come cheap. Some of the prices are good but some run expensive, especially newer releases. The Cassettes are hidden to the right of the glass case. These are the cheapest but most are lackluster unless you like holiday music. It's a hit or miss here but you have to go on the right day to score. Their are also posters you can buy that are in the back center as well as other pieces of entertainment merchandise. The prices here aren't thrift store prices but they are below retail. I highly encourage anyone who hasn't visited this store to give it a go, the owner is very nice and easy to get along with it and is willing to make deals if you are short on money. The business has been around for almost twenty years and I hope it stays for twenty more!

I originally got introduced to TSME when my dad was shopping for cds with AC/DC ORIGINAL vocalist Vaughn Scott. It impressed me that they found it as an import that they could get. Since then I go every time I'm home. I've gotten music, movies and even posters for the Goonies and Purple Rain! Recently I found my niece here in WA was getting a record player for Christmas. My sister in law asked to help her track down two classics from when we were younger. I was nearly always a rock and hard rock kind of kid. I found Aerosmiths greatest hits and Def Leppard Pyromania! TSME took my call after I got back home to WA AND I got a them both from WA. A week later they're safely in my hands and awaiting my 21 year old nieces first play of them after Christmas. I would shop these guys and wait to receive the items because they've never failed me And I've always been abundantly happy with their service! Can't wait to go back again

Whenever I'm in Rochester, I make sure to stop here to get my fix. It is HUGE. You could easily spend a long chunk of time here perusing through their collection of records. But that's not all they have. They've got CDs, movies, books, vintage clothing, posters, and lots of great "gift" type items. They even have a little bar area that serves as a venue for musicians to play. The inside is quirky and everything I love to see in a record store. I really resonate with the posters they have hanging and all the random decor they have throughout the shop. The staff is super friendly and eager to help if you're looking for something specific, which is a plus since there's so much terrain to cover. Record Archive is definitely what I'd consider a top tier record shop.

In the back, there's a cool space where they host live concerts and yes, you can grab a libation while you enjoy the music. Cheers to that. The selection? Ridiculous (in the best way). Vinyl and CDs from just about every artist on the planet. They'll even buy your old music. You'll also find some local goods, and the moment you walk in, you're hit with the comforting smell of incense. It's a vibe! The staff? Helpful, friendly, and chill and zero snobbery. It honestly reminds me of Wax Trax and Vintage Vinyl in Chicago... but way bigger. I'll be back.

I was in the area this weekend for my nieces graduation from SUNY Geneseo. Early Saturday morning…read moremy nephew told me of a music store he spotted driving down Main Street the night before. He wanted to check out the guitars they had for sale. So, having a few hours before the afternoons ceremonies. My nephew and I went to Buzzo's Music Store. The store was crowded with proud parents and soon to be former students. Saying their final goodbye's to Buzzo while introducing their parents for the first time. My nephew walked straight to the back of the store to see what instruments were for sale. I was awestruck by the amount of original concert memorabilia and other items that seem to hang from everywhere. I started to look thru the old records for sale. I found Chris Squire's 'Fish out or Water' and 3 YES albums that I picked up as well. I turned and asked the man behind the counter (It was Buzzo.)if they had any more Chris Squire albums? He did not think so, but was happy to meet someone who was a YES fan. I told him that some of the remaining members of YES and ASIA are touring and will be performing at the Westchester County Center in June. This conversation quickly turned into how may YES concerts we have seen and what we thought was their best show. Then a friend of Buzzo's walks into the store and joins the conversation. ( I apologies, I forgot his name.) Both He and Buzzo begin to tell me that YES played at the Ballroom on the Geneseo campus back in 68. That is cost 50 cents to get in to see the show when the conversations turns to the topic of Chris Squire's solo. Both men said "Chris played Strangers in the Night." Anyway, I had a great time speaking to both men! They also sell Instruments, musical equipment and other stuff. If you are in the area, will be travelling near or just on the highway driving through. Please stop by! Just a side note, I found the 'Ballroom' on the SUNY Geneseo campus and walked thru it. There was a party going on inside for the graduating students so that parents could meet the teachers. Guessing it was standing room only? No more than 1000 people. But that would be maxed out. However...It had to be one AWESOME SHOW!! ....and my nephew liked the guitars in the back.

Nice folks and good sales. Bought a new ukulele from them today. Hope to come back againread more

And if you stick around browsing long enough, he'll tell you incredible stories about famous musicians and his friends in the business. The atmosphere in his store is like no other. Wayne takes pride in the memorabilia he has on the walls and shelves, as he should! Each piece he collects has a story that's worth hearing. The walls are covered in artwork by local artists, concert posters of famous bands who performed locally, and some really fun stuff too, like a drawing by Bono that his friend gave him! Cool Beat has an awesome collection of vinyl. Both new and old and all different genres. The store is super organized and every artist/ record was easy to find. Wayne is always working on getting new music in so always check back in from time to time to find something new. He also sells cds, 45s, posters, and other retro Buffalo/ music related items. His store seriously has a great collection and his prices are extremely fair in comparison to other record stores in the area. He also has a stamp card to get $5 off when you spend $50. All in all, Cool Beat is hands down the best place to come if you truly appreciate music and want to support local business.
