There are shelves upon shelves of books, loosely organized into sections (through the lovely worker helped me find exactly what I was looking for). There are multiple floors and sections to Small World, so if you are coming to browse, give yourself a lot of time. I came on a lunch break so I didn't explore every room, but was able to purchase two local history books as gifts. There are other fun things to buy, like quirky art and vintage postcards. According to their Facebook page, they sometimes have live bands or meditation events. Possibly the best part is the super sweet shop kitty who enjoys pets. It's a bit of a hike from Rochester but was definitely worth a trip to check it out. There were so many books that were organized in helpful sections. The decor and overall vibe created by the layout was great as well. Books were reasonably priced, including a rack of paperback classics. The bookseller was very friendly and knowledgeable.

Looking for an item you can't find?…read more This is the brand new location (used to be big lots) of Cayuga reUse center. The store itself is a non-profit where you can often find something that you might need for your household that still has charm or some shelf life left. The space is now much larger than the old store was and can accommodate many more items. Donations I understand are appreciated but have to be left at the downtown location. I think it's great that all of these things don't go straight into the landfill and that they have another chance to be useful. The stores sales aisles have well organized categories so it's easy to find what you're looking for or just take a quick look around. The staff were friendly and the bathrooms are clean. There is plenty of available parking. In retrospect, I did feel that maybe the prices of some items may be more costly than at the old location? Not sure. I do hope that they will do more advertising to let the community know that they have moved and that they will spend a bit of time putting together a good window display to help attract visitors. This book store is located in a small garage-sized side-building to the Cobblestone Museum itself. There is plenty of free parking behind the buildings. The bookstore is open even when the museum is not, as it is a pay-on-your-honor cash box system. Paperbacks are fifty cents, hardcovers are a dollar, and there of sometimes posted sales for particular authors and/or genres. This little shop is organized very well into genres, with the bulk of the collection being general fiction, but still a nice assortment of shelves for specialized fiction and non-fiction items. The last time we were in, my husband spent eleven bucks on a nice pile of mostly vintage sci-fi paperbacks, with a couple hardcovers. If you too are a bibliophile, and you find yourself in this neck of the woods of the quaint little Orleans County countryside, stop in to peruse the Cobblestone Museum Used Book Store.
