I dropped off a receiver more than a year ago, and get the run around every time I try to get an update on it (which has only been twice). It still worked, and really just needed minor repair from what I could tell. The owner was very curt with me when I showed up to the location to get the status last time. I paid an $80 deposit in cash, and I'm afraid that not only am I out that money, but I'll probably ever get my receiver back either. Called to check status on the repair. Left a message and a week came and went without any response. Called again 5 days later and after giving this person my name several time (3x to be exact), the guy was clearly having a conversation with me and several other people in the office and not listening to me. If it allowed me to rate lower than 1 star, i would (and i have NEVER rated any company or service lower than 4 until now). I bought a used turntable for my son in Feb for his birthday in April and called them about taking a look at it as it was skipping. The owner, Jim told me they would have it done in a '3-4 weeks' in plenty of time for his birthday. I dropped off the turntable and paid my deposit, then they kept putting me off when i would inquire about the status... they didn't even look at it for the first 4 weeks. (Additionally, even though his website says they accept credit cards, he makes you pay cash for your $60 deposit to look at your turntable) After multiple phone calls and voicemails, they finally looked at it, diagnosed the problem and indicated it would take another 3-4 weeks to fix. So again i waited. After over 8 weeks and no updates / responses unless i called to ask, i finally got the turntable back only to have it stop working within the first week after a nearly $200 overhaul. When i paid for the first fix, they indicate they fully stood behind all of their work and that it was under warranty for life. When i contact the owner, Jim, he put me off multiple times, did not return emails or phone calls or weeks. Finally i reached him by phone and said if i 'drop it off, he should be able to take a look and see what's going on within a week or so' but that it likely wasn't going to be covered by warranty. ALL I WANT IS MY EQUIPMENT BACK.....DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING TO HIM.....He has had my Sansui Receiver for 2 years now and refused to answer any calls or email. As the other's are saying, I would give negative stars if I could. I brought in a turntable and receiver that my Dad bought when he was in the Navy during Vietnam.....this was 2 YEARS AGO. I was wanting to get them fixed up so I could use it for the next 40+ years that he did. The turntable needed some cleaning and a new stylus and he was able to get it back to me after a couple months......I still don't have the receiver back. He is never at his shop during posted hours, the phone doesn't even ring, so goes straight to voicemail. One message on the voice mail says that they will only respond to emails. Every time I talk to him on email or on the phone(if I can ever talk to the man in person) he says it will be done next week, that started over a year ago. I probably will never get back my receiver, so my hope is that nobody else will get any equipment lost to him. I never leave reviews, but I really don't know what else to do now. read more

Horrible experience. I dropped my turntable off right before they closed. They require an $85 deposit on all turntable repairs. After dropping it off I started reading all the bad reviews and decided I didn't want these yahoos working on my table. The first thing the next morning I told them to not work on it and I'll just pick it up. When I picked it up I asked for a refund since literally no work or time was spent on my turntable. Jim the owner laughed at me and said absolutely no refund. I understand asking for money if time was spent diagnosing an issue but they spent ZERO time diagnosing or working on it. I paid 85 bucks for it to sit on a shelf for 12 hours. Then when I picked it up they spent 20 minutes shuffling around their mess to find my turntable. Never again. Just read the reviews...this place is exploiting their customers. Plus they get their cartridges from guitar center and that they work great on their Crosleys...yeah I don't think so. So I took my Technics 1200 turntable to have the pitch adjustment replaced and I also took my Phase Linear Amp because it was cutting out on one of the channels I dropped these items off before Thanksgiving of last year the owner Jim told me there will be a 85 dollar diagnostic fee for each item which I explained to him that was fair for the amp but as for the turntable I already knew it needed the pitch adjustment component replaced and he insisted he could repair it and that the fee would cover the repairs I was going to use my visa for the fees but he said the credit card machine was broken but I could write him a check for 170 dollars and waited and waited and waited and waited finally in mid January I called to see what the progress was on my turntable and could not get a hold of anyone I kept calling twice a day until I finally reached Jim he told me they have been busy and not able to do anything yet so I asked how long he said he should know something by next week I continued to call on a weekly basis to NO AVAIL and finally a man named Richard called me and told me they were gonna have to replace the pitch adjustment and I needed to order one and have it sent to them HELLO JIM that is what I told you in the first place so I got the parts ordered and on Friday April 12 2019 (mind you Vintage has had my equipment since before Thanksgiving of LAST YEAR) I picked up my equipment and when I got home my turntable was missing the platter and the counterweight for the tone arm and since I had no work done on my amp because Jim said that the whole right side was fried and it was not worth fixing I had my friend look at it and see what he thought and he opened it up and said there is NO WAY the looked at this amp if they had they would have seen a loose connection just needed to be soldered ...... HEED MY WARNING STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS .... JIM IS INCOMPETENT AND A BIG SCAM ARTIST and he still claims his credit card machine is broken ....... what a big POS read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!!Horrible!!!!!!!!! After telling me a hundred times everything was coming along fine with my marantz 4300 stereo receiver and after 9 months I'd had enough so set up a time to pick it up and he didn't show up to the shop after I had driven 100 miles to get there. Then told me it was my fault for not double checking to make sure he was going to be there!!!!!!!!!!! After all this time of telling me everything was almost done and the day I was going to pick it up he says there was to much wrong with it to fix it!!!!!!!! After 9 months!!!!!!!!! And then said I should appreciate all the effort he put into trying to fix it. His cell phone alone will drive you crazy along with his rude and unprofessional business practices. I will be reporting him to the better business bureau!!!!!!! Asked him to send me pictures along the way of the progress he was making and totally blew me off on that now that he can't lie anymore took 50 pictures to document that he couldn't fix it!!!!!!!!!!!! A disaster! My turntable's electronic playing procedure (on, rotating the platter, moving tonearm to record, lowering and lifting and returning then going into stand-by) developed a glitch. I live out of state so I shipped the turntable to Vintage Turntable. I carefully packaged the unit according to the manual, etc. Here's the disaster: a new cartridge valued at $200 was ruined (glue was spilled on it); on return shipping none of the procedures for safe shipping were followed (helpfully diagrammed on the box), instead one strip of masking tape was used to secure the platter (of course broken in shipping); the tonearm was not secured correctly for shipping, instead taped tight to the base pressing upon the stylus without the stylus guard being flipped down (again it was shipped to Vintage correctly and they just made up their method); and to top it off, the player did work correctly on first play HOWEVER!!! on second play a new glitch developed (will not play record or turn off at all -- need to unplug it). Very expensive, very expensive so-called repair (factor in shipping too). There is a year warranty and I could supposedly ship it back for repair again, but after seeing how it was returned to me absolutely no way!!! For my ruined cartridge no compensation was made (it was supposedly "cleaned up"; it was ruined and upon using it any damn fool could hear that). So not unsurprisingly "Eek! Methinks not!" read more
