The sight of a new Brick Lane vintage shop is almost jarring. A culture shock in a place that's nothing if not characterised by its clashing cultures. Luckily, new vintage kid on the cosmopolitan block, Vintage Heaven, is worth the shock. This has to be Shoreditch's most affordable vintage boutique. Ever.
Today I spied dozens of original fifties and sixties dresses made out of some beautiful fabrics - slub and chiffon silks, pure wools and cottons - and excitedly tried on a few. Such was my enthusiasm about this new vintage destination that it was dampened only slightly by the fact that the changing room is, in fact, a store-room, and a ghastly one at that.
That aside, Vintage Heaven is, if inducing of a little deja vu as there is another Vintage Heaven on Columbia Road (come on people, Google your business name to make sure its unique), a very good vintage shop. Many garments are damaged in some way so its wise to examine pieces closely before buying but this is reflected in the competitive prices so you really can't complain. read more
