Almost everything is truly vintage. But also truly priced as a representation of its Covent Garden location. The small upstairs area contains a good variety of eras and pieces, and a little section at the back is devoted to men's clothing. Just when you think it's over, the lower ground floor opens up and holds an overflow of the pieces you just saw upstairs. I had my eye on a fabulous canary-egg blue and brown plaid skirt suit from the '50s, but then I realized I'm a bum and don't have a job to which I could wear it. If you're a size 8/10 and have a job and £55, go give it a good home. Maybe I'll go back and buy it and just wear it while walking around my 10' x 12' flat all day, vacuuming the carpet and Yelping. Be warned that Blackout II only has one changing room. After waiting in line for ten minutes to try on some tops, I gave up and just went to the relative privacy of the lower ground floor to try them on over my clothes.

This small boutique of second hand vintage clothing offers some beautiful pieces from the 1920s to the 80s. Not only is it a sales shop but they hire out as well. You will find makes such as Chanel in Blackout II as well as lesser-known names. It's like a treasure trove of clothes and accessories and it's an exciting experience rooting through the amazing and distinctive offerings. They have some extravagant and showy jewellery pieces that you really wouldn't be able to find anywhere else. If you're looking for something really special and unique I would really suggest this place hidden away between Covent Garden and Holborn. The prices are just as special as the pieces you'll find there but if you have a root through you can sometimes find some fairly reasonably priced items as well. But if it's a bit pricey why not enquire about hiring out something for a special occasion.

Not much has been done to a great standard in the shop itself. Having said that, the wallpaper and…read morethe mirror in the dressing room feels quite homely. The shop is quite cutting edge in what they offer, the emphasis on shape and cut and are amongst the freshest themes out there, there is always an interesting cut to look out for at Dahlia's. Attention to detail is essential, buttons, pockets, stitching and lining. For instance, I fell in love with one of their new season sailor coats, with red buttons and navy backdrop, the lining in silk and printed red stars. Unfortunately, the shape was a bit to frumpy for my height but I can see it being worn by a specific kind of woman amazingly! I encountered the same problem with other outfits, it was such a shame. Their clothes won't fit everyone, but you never know; one of their vintage type, fun cut dresses might fit you perfectly.

Supposedly the designer is British and began selling her pieces on Portobello Road ten years ago. The shop is brightly lit, small and very quaint. I found the Dahlia collection to be rather vintage-inspired, with precise tailoring feminine details. The quality of the pieces are very good and I feel like the price point is fair. There also is a section of vintage pieces in the shop, all in wonderful condition. I found the service to be great as well, my salesgirl was quite attentive and gave me her advice when I was conflicted between two vintage 1950s dresses I had selected. She asked for my contact information so she could ring me when they got in a trench I was eyeing earlier that had sold out straight away. Also, she said she would let me know when the shop got in their next vintage shipment. Overall, wonderful and very genuine customer service. I look forward to what the Dahlia shop has in store for F/W 2010 and I will be back in the shop very soon.

I had walked into brandy Melville as it is a place, I love to shop at. I was not greeted once, the…read moreworkers were very bratty and rude. I asked if they had the specific item in a different style and I got a rude look and told me no. I am absolutely appalled by the treatment I was given, especially when I went to checkout, I had two long sleeve shirts and two pairs of shorts. One of the long sleeves supposedly didn't have a tag, which I wasn't aware of. The worker than asked me to go find that specific shirt with a tag which was upstairs, while there was a bunch of the workers just standing around. I was very unsure of why I (as the customer) am going upstairs instead of communicating with the other employees to go find the shirt. I explained there was only one shirt left and it was upstairs. She then told me to go "double check" as if I would lie about this? I absolutely do not recommend this brandy Melville whatsoever and it is so insanely sad these people don't know how to treat others or clearly do there job either. Don't waste your time here.

My only complaints is how the staff treat their costumers, there is no costumer service whatsoever and it feels like the ours there only to take your money and get you out the store. I also think it would be a lot nicer and a more popular shop if they were more size inclusive!!! But other than that it's a cute shop!

If there's one thing about about an H&M that you can count on, it's consistency. Consistency in…read morefair prices, consistency in seasonal clothing and my favorite consistency, the ability to con the sales clerks into giving you a good deal when there's one to be had. I found just such a deal at this very store. I was on a mission to stuff my America-destined suitcase with coats galore on my recent trip to London and while we have H&M's here in the States, it's always been my experience that they are a bit better overseas, so I figured I'd go in. As I strolled through the aisles, combed the racks and fondled, tugged and pulled at fabrics, I found an adorable little gold knitted sweater for... 3 pounds. Yes! But a jacket, Stephy, you must find a jacket. Keep your focus, girl! I decided since the first floor was looking pretty picked over and grim that I'd hike the two flights upstairs and see what there was. And there, oh there it was, my new coat. I only saw two of them. One, definitely smaller than the other and from about 20 feet away, I guessed maybe a size 4 and a 12 or 14 for the bigger one aka my new coat. I b-lined it for the coat, only knocking a few tiny hipsters out of the way and clenched it with my mitten covered hands! (Somehow that doesn't sound very menacing with the word mitten in it, huh? Oh well, moving on...) Sure enough, the small was indeed a size 4, off with you silly little person coat! And then there it was my 14 (hey, I eat, I have curves, la la la). I immediately dropped my purse and shed the 17 layers of clothing I was wearing to prevent me from freezing to death in the chilly London air and the coat was on. I did the chick side turn that gives you a peep at your bum to make sure it looks flattering. I did the classic reverse glance neck tilt to make sure my ass didn't look as big as it really is and then I went to button it and... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Missing buttons!! Crap sandwich! But wait? There was that little person coat that I tossed aside with reckless abandon.... Hmm, perhaps that coat had buttons? Sure enough! IT HAD BUTTONS!! And so it was time to plan my discount. My trained shopper mind knew full well that they weren't going to be able to sell this coat as is, which means, discountville!! Hey, it's defective and missing most of the front buttons, surely you can't charge me full price. What say we take the buttons off of the smaller coat and give them to me and then sell me the big coat at a discount defect price seeing as how I will have to sew the buttons on myself? And so I scanned the cashiers and looked for the youngest, most clueless looking one. There she was, blinking like Bambi! I approached her with confidence and gave her my spiel and after she thought it over and asked her manager, what do you know, success, new jacket and 20 new buttons were mine! Thanks H&M, I will wear my score with pride!

I don't care, I'm just gonna say it...I love it!!…read more It's like good ol' Primani only about £1 more expensive per item and slightly nicer. They have some terrible clothes, I know, you'll pick up a lovely top then realise it has a hideous patch of glitter on it, or pick up a gorge cardi then realise the buttons are already falling off, but sometimes you'll dig out some amazing finds! It's also a great place for 'the basics' like tshirts and vests in every colour. It's one of my first stops for a summer holiday too - lots of handy cheap beach coverups etc. It's not great quality and they're not long lasting garments but then you're not paying much and I've bought loads of really cool little dresses and tops from here. And lots and lots of hats!! I love hats!
