The Vintage Restaurant is a plush looking, well presented establishment in the heart of Harrow, in North West London. With polite and attentive staff and a good bar, Vintage offers something that comes close to a cross between typical London curry house Indian food and hints of a homely flavour, treatment of spices and cooking style.
If you've been yearning a classic butter chicken curry with pilau rice then Vintage will not disappoint and you'll also be served well with all the usual anglo-Indian curries such as chicken tikka masala. What does stand out in the Vintage restaurant is that their sauces and spice mixes are rather compellingly varied in taste, texture and aroma. This perhaps could be attributed to the fact that the Vintage is not a Bangladeshi run establishment and therefore their chefs' cooking style is distinctly regional to the part of India from whence he or she came. As a result, the Indian style breads available on the menu are made in a notably pleasing style where their size, softness and texture differs greatly to the more typical Bangladeshi/Indian curry house. Their naan breads are particularly good and lovely and fluffy to the touch. Another one of my favourites here is their vegetarian and chicken biryani which both come in hearty portions and again have a pleasing north Indian touch to their flavouring. Regular curry house goers will instantly notice this distinctiveness in flavour and aroma in the biryani's served here and I dare say that they would all give the thumbs up.
The menu presents the customer with a good and wide selection of veg and non-veg food and wine list, though limited, is in fact quite good and prices for both food and drinks are in the lower to mid-range.
This restaurant is frequented by a fair mix of Indian and non-Indian customers and the tone and style of the restaurant appeals to both large families, friends and couples out for a good night as well as the lone diner who's just passing by.
For the simple fact the Vinage Restaurant's menu offers a different and distinctly north Indian taste, at a reasonable price, I can highly recommend this restaurant to those who might venture up to North West London. read more
