The bar building was closed for indoor gatherings but huge out building bar was open and the huge lawn had picnic tables with umbrellas spaced nicely so you could enjoy tavern. We probably got one of the last open tables because as I looked around after being there for the first beer they were all full. The space is very dog friendly because our party had a dog and a few other tables also and nobody said anything. The beer menu was decent with bottles and cans of various beers from domestic to craft. The food menu was small and included burgers to nachos and an amazing looking ice cream cookie sandwich. Parking can be tough and it's mostly street but I got the last open spot. Over this is a great tavern outdoor space that is way more than just a patio so see my pictures.

Our server greeted us in a timely manner and took our drink order. I ordered an old fashioned, my wife a Hugo spritz. Both were fantastic but just a heads up, the drinks were relatively strong. The menu is relatively small but still enough to choose from and not be disappointed. My wife and I both ordered the 5 oz filet with shrimp. We split a side of green beans. When our food reached our table, we thought that it might not be enough to fill us but we were more than full afterwards and agreed that anything bigger might be too much. The food was excellent, one of the better steaks I've had in a while. The service was good and our server, Sammy, did a real nice job of taking care of us without being overly intrusive. Prices were appropriate for the quality, maybe a little higher than you would expect but still worth it. The décor and overall aesthetic are lovely, but the food and service didn't come close to matching the first time. The biggest issue was temperature. Majority of food on the plate was not hot and not warm -- not the chicken, not the rice, not the beans. At the previous location, you could see the chickens roasting on the spit, and the food arrived hot and fresh. Here, I'm not sure what's happening behind the scenes, but the food temps indicate it had all been sitting. The only item that was freshly prepared were the plantains. I didn't bring it up to the server because she was checked out the entire time, and honestly, I can't expect her to remedy the kitchen if she can't bring waters. Why is the kitchen sending out food that clearly isn't hot? Is it being held in a steamer? If so the temps are not being checked and that becomes a food safety issue beyond quality‑control issues. Service itself also missed the mark. The pretty glasses are small -- though pretty-- and I had to flag the server down for refills. Same with the sauces that are supposed to come with the meal; they only arrived after I asked. To be clear it was 1:00 on a Monday and there was one other table in the place at arrival, and one table after our arrival. I had been planning another visit to introduce a different friend, but after this experience, I don't think I'll be returning. I hope things improve, because the new space deserves better execution than what's currently coming out of the kitchen.

There were two different sauces on the table, I don't even know what they were, but I used both on my rice (even though it didn't need any help) and they were delicious. If I had a complaint, I wish there was an option (charge me $2 extra?) to have the chicken taken off the bone... probably one of my least favorite things to do but I feel I'm in the minority. My wife has Alzheimer's and she always enjoys the ride up in the view overlooking the river. I had to ask for tables along the outside to get the best view of the river. It is located along the Wisconsin River a short drive outside of Madison. Vintage Brewing is right on the river, giving the patio a really pretty setting. I am not a beer drinker so I ordered the Wisconsinite ( a blackberry brandy old-fashioned). It wasn't bad, but definitely more on the sweet side than I care for. We shared the fried cheese curds, which had a great flavor, though not the best I've had. I really enjoyed my blackened salmon salad. The salmon was delicious and the salad was fresh. My husband also enjoyed his pulled pork sandwich. They had some fun swag for sale, and I came home with a cute pink t-shirt. All in all, Vintage Brewing is a cool place with beautiful location a great vibe. If you have a chance, catch The Sparks Band (a fun cover band).
