Great food beer and service! New location in cross plains was well worth the wait. Love all four locations.

I got food poisoning with 12 hours of vomiting and diarrhea. Suspect it was Bacillus cereus or Staphylococcus aureus (bacteria)

Decided to try a new place for fish fry tonight…read more To be fair it was really busy. However, the service was not very good. After sitting for a bit we got drinks at the bar, and the bartender gave us some menus and took our order. Later this caused some confusion when we had to pay our tab. When it finally arrived, the breaded Walleye (offered twice a month) was quite good. Although we were not provided tartar sauce, a neighboring table kindly loaned us theirs. The fish was served in a basket with waxed paper lining and it was virtually impossible not to get a mouthful of paper while cutting the breaded fish or baked potato. As a result, we both had a little extra 'fiber' with our meal. The rest of the food was OK, but nothing special. While we don't really expect much in terms of 'ambience' from a bar fish fry, it was incredibly noisy (due in part to the pool table in the middle of the dining area), and we also were not expecting to be looking directly into a messy toilet/bathroom during our meal. (Picture of our 'view' is attached) So, overall not great - despite some very tasty fish.

Prices are good and there are daily lunch plus evening food specials. The bar staff is friendly, attentive and good at what they do. The food is really quite good with fresh burger and crinkle cut fries. My favorites. R-Bar is definitely on my list of regular joints to stop at for a quick sandwich and a couple of beers. Cheers!

The bartender assured us that their vegan options were incredible. MadisonTap features many local Wisconsin beers on tap. They seem to often rotate the beers and keep a solid selection. MadisonTap was spacious with bar seats, tables, and booths available. The design and decor were well thought out. The crowd seems to be young professionals in their mid-20s to early 30s. I don't recall the beers I got here but I do remember prices being ~$7-10 range mark. The bartender and owner place special emphasis on being vegetarian and vegan friendly. Even one of the cocktails used vegan butter. There was a single bartender when I visited but it was a bit slow. We had a great conversation and watched Christmas movies on the projectors. Overall, solid experience. 5/5. Favorited in Madison, WI.

We entered from the front of the building. It looks like they feature a different brewery every month. The interior of the bar was pretty classy and new. Their patio was very cool and spacious. A great patio for evening drinks! The live music was pretty good too. Can't speak to the food however, since we didn't eat there.

So if you're on the way back from Devil's Lake or Circus World or Wollersheim Winery, just go. It's a one room classic Wisconsin Tavern. It's clearly a locals joint. Don't be intimidated by the row of Harley's parked in front of the door. Everyone in the place was nice, down right friendly.... and I'm guessing there is a regular flow of recreational bikers coming and going. The bartender knew just about everyone there except for us. But we'll be back. The fresh burgers and bacon comes from the Lodi, one town over, and you can tell it's fresh and local. Prices are extremely reasonable. Of course there's a full bar with about five beers on tap and an ample supply of bottled beers including local favorites. But it's the burgers I'll be back for. So take the field trip and check out Tootsies. Seek out the out of the way local joints during your summer travels.

Menu is very limited, but that didn't matter to us. We were going to check out the burgers. Hamburger with a slice of raw onion, two bacon cheese burgers (their specialty) with a slice of raw onion and a side of fries, and a veggie wrap rounded out our order. Burgers were a good size and cooked well. Meat was coarse grind which we like. Fries were nothing special but came hot to the table. The wrap was underwhelming. Service was friendly. Food was better than average but place needed a good cleaning, especially the cooking grill and back room which was visible. 4 stars is generous. Likely not return until cleanliness is addressed.

The bar building was closed for indoor gatherings but huge out building bar was open and the huge lawn had picnic tables with umbrellas spaced nicely so you could enjoy tavern. We probably got one of the last open tables because as I looked around after being there for the first beer they were all full. The space is very dog friendly because our party had a dog and a few other tables also and nobody said anything. The beer menu was decent with bottles and cans of various beers from domestic to craft. The food menu was small and included burgers to nachos and an amazing looking ice cream cookie sandwich. Parking can be tough and it's mostly street but I got the last open spot. Over this is a great tavern outdoor space that is way more than just a patio so see my pictures.
