Stopped in to get a bottle or two for drinking in the evenings at our Airbnb. The place was packed but still we were greeted warmly nearly before we walked in! The gentleman that helped us was wonderful! Asked us a few questions to determine what type of wine we would enjoy. Their entire selection is Austria which is so wonderful. We tasted two different wines and bought both bottles. Prices were VERY reasonable and the wine was DELISH!! I would have loved to have a glass sitting down to enjoy the atmosphere but with two small kids that would not have been relaxing. HIGHLY recommend!!

Largest cheese and meat plate for 2 :)

What a gem! We came here yesterday after getting in from Prague and wanted some wine and cheese for unwinding and some relaxing before taking a stroll around the city. This is a mere 5 min walk from where we're staying we decided to come check it out. We showed up around 4:30pm and got seated right away. The space isn't huge but doesn't feel crowded. We were attended to promptly and the owner suggested we do tasting option #3 which is 6 whites and 4 reds to share (so 2.5 glasses worth for the bf and I respectively; $29 Euros). We also ordered a plate of cheese and meat to share. All the wine was excellent. Some local specialties were highlighted, i.e. Grüner Veltliner, Zweigelt, etc., but there were also other common varieties such as Riesling, Chardonnay (we tried an uncorked one here), and others. He either explained each wine in detail or at the very least pointed to the page on this grape varieties guide for us to read about them more (the latter when the place got really busy). Cheese/meat plate was possibly the largest I've ever seen for two people but everything was decadently delicious on it. Great hospitality and the products here speak for themselves. I can def see why the online reviews have been so positive, count me in as a fan too!

Nice little wine shop. Great for a break

A small wine shop in Vienna with a lot of character. This is a must do in Vienna! The owner has a 30 year wine history and a great pallet for nice tasting wine. My wife and I asked for a recommendation twice and he brought us 4 different wines. Very tasty. He was knowledgable enough to to talk about the different grapes and regions. Fun Friendly Affordable We bought 2 bottles to bring home and had 4 glasses total on their out door patio. Total was under 50€. High recommend. We did not order the meat and cheese plate but saw one and it looked excellent. If you are in Vienna, find this shop.

Amazing place!! The owner was friendly, offering suggestions and tastings on wine. Sat outside, which is quite small, and ended up having some regulars join me at my table. They raved it is the best place to buy wine in Vienna, and were generous, letting me taste from the bottles they were purchasing.

Great place for tasting a variety of Austrian wines. Flights of 6, 8 or 10 provides a wide range. Small (15 seats indoors) intimate wine shop fills up quickly in cool weather and no standing room. Reservations occupy most of the tables.

Austrian wine only, very knowledgeable staff, nice vibe, we felt like we were the only "non-locales". Very friendly.

The moment we clarified we weren't together and I brought in my Brown boyfriend, the host seemed visibly perplexed, and the tone shifted. Throughout the evening, we were denied a simple wine tasting, then largely ignored, which left us with a strong impression of biased, discriminatory treatment. To make matters worse, staff repeatedly emphasized the price of everything, which came off as patronizing and inappropriate regardless of anyone's background or perceived status. This experience felt xenophobic and racist, and it was frankly vile--there are far too many restaurants in Austria to support one that treats guests this way. As two physicians who take care of people in their darkest hours, it felt incredibly degrading to be treated this way when we were simply trying to enjoy an evening away from the stress of our daily careers. I would hope that the owners of this establishment would take a hard look at the standards set for their employees and management practices going forward to create a safe atmosphere where all connoisseurs can gather and vibe even in just a moment of peace from the day-to-day hardships we can all certainly relate to. Shameful behavior indeed. Pity, as the ambience and wine selection was delicious but tainted by the ugly reminder of bigotry.

Gerstner is a long-standing bakery with a few locations (including at the former summer palace). They had a shop relatively near our hotel, so we stopped in early during the trip. If you are facing the State Opera House, Gerstner's is on the right across the street. Note that there is also some as or more famous outlet for cakes behind the Opera House also, but they appeared to have a line when we walked by. At Gerstner's you enter at street level where they have a dessert counter with displays. You can get a slice to go here. However, if you want more of the full experience, you can go upstairs (they have an elevator as well). A wide curving staircase gets you to the rather small 2nd level (the first floor, in local parlance). There are some tables here, but it has the air of a bookstore coffee shop. We opted to continue up to the next floor. Here, there is a dark hallway where you approach the host stand. There was one couple ahead of us and they got seated quickly. I think they had a bar as well as dining, so they ask which you want. We just wanted dessert, so they walked us past the bar. This floor has high ceilings and palace-like decoration. The vibe is definitely 'special' but they don't charge extortionate rates for it, which was nice. We were shown to a small table in the main dining room. I think you could see part of the Opera House out of the open windows. Two of us got coffees and we all split a Sachertorte. We enjoyed it, but everyone agreed that it was a bit dry. Maybe the Viennese don't go for moist cakes. They do have other items on the menu and I think you can get a regular meal here (schnitzel, salads, etc.). However, we visited around 2:30 p.m. on a weekday, so we just wanted the cake. The bill was reasonable, and we all agreed that this was a worthwhile experience.
