Got the set menu for the Mozart concert package. Location wise, it's right next to the operahouse so you can go there or to the Musikverein super easily. The dining room is quite beautiful, in a dimly lit antique wood paneling sort of way. But the food was somewhat average.
First course: beef carpaccio.
Overwhelming note was that of salt. I'm not a huge fan of raw beef, and this dish did not sway my opinion too much. Needed more vegetables to balance it out with astringency.
Second course: fish for me, beef for my brother.
Fish was decent. Not overcooked but not terribly flavorful. The sweet potato purée was quite nice though.
My brother was a fan of his dish, but again, it was mostly meat.
Last course: dessert dumplings.
Quite thick, particularly with the chocolate syrup in the middle. Having vanilla ice cream on the side provided a nice contrast though.
Service was wonderful, and we finished with plenty of time to walk to our performance venue. However, I'm not sure if I would return for the set menu. read more
