This was our favorite tasting room we visited in Jerome. It features a handpicked selection of some really hard to find Arizona wines. All super complex and balanced. I have done MANY tastings across the central coast of CA, and elsewhere, and these could hold their own against some of the best. Really surprising from such a young, pioneer wine region. We ordered a red flight and loved the 2016 Grenache from Wagon Wheel Winery. Ginger is an amazing host and knows things about the wines you only get from deep, serious study. This is such a charming little place with a wide variety of wines. While unlike some of the other places in town, they are not a tasting room for a winery, they have wines instead from all over Arizona, so you can try a lot of different styles. The gentleman working the day we came in had a huge personality, and it was very endearing. We loved hearing his thoughts on the wines, and I appreciated the education he provided with it. We told him to surprise us with a tasting at his own discretion, and he did not disappoint. The wines we tasted were pretty good, our favorites being Heart Wood Heart 2017, Wagon Wheel Petit Sirah and a Chocolate Mint dessert wine. Some of the whites and sangrias were good as well. With over 20 wineries and tasting rooms in the area, this one was our least favorite. The ambiance is "quiet fun" as we sat on comfortable sofas while our server brought 1 each of 5 wines on the tasting menu. They even welcomed our small dog inside that was a welcome change from others. They were out of many wines so it was a fixed selection of 2 oz pours of white and red wines. Bottles ranged in price from $32 - $46, none of which I thought was worthy of their prices. Our server gave us a description and history of each wine that was interesting, but only 1 of them was passable - the others were not enjoyable. We've had much better quality wines at other local tasting venues. You can request, and they will honor, a 2 for 1 discount on their wine sample tastings. Cautiously recommended! read more

Truly had such an exceptional time at Vino Zona! We (my partner, and a very close visitor friend from Costa Rica) went there unexpectedly on a trip to get through to Sedona, we decided to take the scenic route through Jerome and forgot it was a holiday weekend and that it would probably be so full. If you haven't been, Jerome is a little gem of a place, known as a Ghost town and founded in early 1899! Gives such a small town feel and it's a great part of the appeal. Because it's such a small town, parking can be sparce so Vino Zona actually has some spaces that are marked for this spot only - and of course, we wanted to just park already and enjoy the town so we parked and walked on over to it. The owner, Ginger, did such a great job of providing stellar wine choices, experience, recommendations, and we walked out with a single barrel dark chocolate cherry wine that's frankly, the best chocolate wine I've ever had in my life!!! The wines she carries are all Arizona grown and she made sure to tell us that her spot is farm to table and that she did the most in making sure she supported local, and especially women owned wineries and wine makers alike. It has a nice 'sitting at home' type of feel, some cute decor, (even the bathroom was so adorable, I should have taken my phone to snap some pics because it was just that cute) and she does her best to socially distance in the shop also. She asks folks to wear masks and she wears one also and does not take it off. For the red wines she poured us (We started with some delicious white, and the rest were red) she used this unique glass bulb (I'd never seen, silly wine noob) that allowed for a nice pour and no spillage. We sent our Costa Rican friend home with one of these to impress his friends with (post-pandemic hopefully of course). I can't say enough about our experience there, the delicious wine that we had, the courteous service, the lovely communication there, and above all the beautiful memories we were able to experience together. For all three of us there was a sitting fee and she had a check-in discount for 1/2 off of that fee but she said she may not keep that on there. Snatch it up before she removes! read more

Friends and I were headed to Jerome for the day to get out of the valley and I saw on Groupon that there was a wine tasting for Vino Zona on sale, so I went ahead and got that for us. We arrived at Vino Zona around 12pm on a Saturday, there was one other group inside so there was plenty of space between us and the door was roped off until one of us left. Our wine tasting allowed us to try out 5 different wines and each wine is locally made in Arizona. We tasted Arizona Angel Moscato, Arizona Sunset Rose, Arriba Sangria (a prickly pear & passion fruit sangria) Viva Sangria (Peach sangria) and Arizona Angel Dark Chocolate (red). I enjoyed learning about all the local wineries and now know I need to get out more. My favorite out of all them was the Rose and Arriba Sangria, although all the wines we tasted were perfect. Do stop by Vino Zona when in the Jerome area and learn about our local wineries and try some and take a bottle or two home! read more

The owner asked us each what type of wine we enjoyed and then she created a tasting menu of five wines each to try. I chose sweeter type wines and my husband opted for some dryer varieties. With us getting different types, we were able to share the tastings and try ten of them. The owner was knowledgeable about the various wines which were all made in Arizona, some right around Jerome. Stopped in here on Sunday with my husband when we took a quick unplanned trip to Jerome for the day to get out of the heat down in Phoenix. We did 2 other tastings in Jerome, but Vino Zona was my absolute favorite! She has an amazing selection of wines, and every story behind each one was delightful. Ginger really puts a lot of thought and effort into creating a great experience for her customers.The decor, view, and music were right up my alley, and I knew this was going to be a one-of-a-kind adventure! I chose to try the sweet wine flight, while my husband tried the other wine flight that was available. It was so hard to decide which one I liked most, but if I had to say, it would be the last one I tried - it tasted just like having a dark chocolate raspberry cake! So wonderful. We sat with Ginger for a while, and she was kind enough to share some pickles with my husband and some chocolate with me while we talked. We've already started planning our next trip up to Jerome, and we are even making plans to stay in her vacation rental upstairs from her tasting room! Can't wait to go back and visit Jerome and Ginger again! Cannot recommend Vino Zona and Ginger highly enough - truly a lovely experience. We found this little place through a simple google search. Jerome is a fascinating little town and Vino Zona just adds to the charm. The decor is old-timey and interesting to look at when you're doing a seated wine tasting. The owner was very friendly and shared stories with us about the history of the town. He was very knowledgeable and a great story teller. His wine knowledge was vast and it was nice to see someone so supportive of local wines and wineries. The parking in Jerome can be complicated depending on the time of year and activity in town but Vino Zona has a few reserved spots on the road just before their location. Ginger has a very unique and delicious selection of Arizona wines. Coming from California near Temecula Valley wine country the wines here we're different then what I normally drink but they were fantastic. I have nothing but GOOD things to say! Firstly, they're dog friendly. That speaks for itself. Second, the gal who hosted the tasting was so personable, friendly, and helpful. She was like having another friend in our group (and she wore her mask the whole time). Thirdly, they're located at the end of Main Street, have their own parking around the corner, and rent a super cute Airbnb upstairs (we were lucky enough to glimpse at it). Finally, the wine. All from Arizona and delicious! There was a great variety and so many unique flavors such as a blueberry or habanero wine. The tasting fees are waved depending on the amount of bottles you buy, the bottles are all fairly priced, and they are packaged to go in a cute Vino Zona bottle tote. Yes, you also keep the tasting glass - the details here are absolutely magnificent! Reds were $38 and whites $28 with few exceptions. I can't wait to go back and stay in the Airbnb. read more
