It was our first visit to Vino Vino, a hidden gem in a strip mall along Siesta Dr. For me it was literally hidden, I remember seeing it before but didn't realize it was even a restaurant. My wife sleuthed it out and suggested we go. Checking out the menu beforehand I learned it was a small regional Italian restaurant. Reviews talk about it being a locally owned place. Supporting local businesses enriches us all. Chef/owner Ciro and his best friend Svet were very much a part of an enjoyable evening. Dean Martin was also there in spirit and there was singing. Whatever I had decided from looking at the menu was replaced by a couple of specials that my wife and I shared. The meal started with Focaccia bread, soft and airy with a garbanzo bean spread. For first course we had a pasta special, Ricotta Cheese Gnocchi, delicious with a pink sauce. There was citrus and mint involved, my wife noticed, I'm not as refined. We also ordered a side of spaghetti so we could sample that and we both really liked it. For our second course we had their Veal Braciole Special. This too was an excellent choice. Ciro explained the time and many steps to prepare this dish. It is a rolled veal with a sauce/gravy, situated atop mashed potatoes. This was a hardy entrée and we brought some home. We finished the meal with the Italian classic, Tiramisu. It was even better than it looked, and it was beautiful. Make a reservation. We decided to go to Vino Vino and made a reservation the day before. Although the restaurant was not full for our visit, we learned some days it is and as we approach the season, most if not all days will be booked in advance.

Stop what you are doing and head straight there! It was the most amazing culinary experience. It wasn't just wonderful food. It was a wonderful experience. From the lovely wine to the fantastic fresh pasta. It was the best! We can't wait to go back. The gentlemen who run Vino Vino shook our hands and walked us out. It's a must must! Ciao!

    So many wines...

If you're looking for "real" Italian food, this is the place! Walking into this Small and intimate place, we were met with smiling and generous hosts- the owners and chefs themselves! Explaining where the food is from, how it's made, and the history behind the menu helped to make the night. They have amazing wines, and they make their own pasta daily- plus they import ItlIan olive oil, balsamic and ingredients to make their pasta from scratch every day. The atmosphere made us all feel comfortable, like sitting at our own table. All our food was very well prepared, and the taste was even better than the smell. They give you time- time to enjoy the wine, time to enjoy the appetizers, time to enjoy your friends before your main course arrives. This is just the kind of place I didn't know I was looking for. I look forward to another night out at Vino Vino.

The most delicious focaccia bread! Chef's kiss!

The outdoor Tiki area wrapped around the building and had a fun, relaxed vibe that made a great first impression. Our waitress, Rhonda, was excellent. She was friendly, answered all our questions, and knew the menu inside and out. What We Ordered: * Clam Chowder * Lobster Bisque * Maine Lobster Dinner with Corn on the cob and Coleslaw * Phil's Steamer Pot with half Lobster, Corn on the cob, Potatoes, Andouille Sausage, Clams, and Mussels Food Highlights: The soups came out first, and both were excellent. The Clam Chowder was topped with Bacon and Chives. It was the best we've had since moving to Florida--rich, flavorful, and satisfying. The Lobster Bisque was Creamy and equally delicious, with great flavor and tasty pieces of Bread mixed in. Our entrées arrived quickly, and we loved both dishes. The Lobster was cooked perfectly in both meals, and everything in Phil's Steamer Pot was hot, well-seasoned, and full of flavor. My wife, who is from Maine, said it was the best Lobster she has had in this area. Even the sides--the Corn on the cob and Coleslaw--were very good, and the Beer was served ice cold. One more thing each table featured a fish dip and crackers--an extra touch we really enjoyed. Fish Market and Final Verdict: Before leaving, we stepped inside to look at the Fish Market and were impressed by how fresh everything looked. The selection was large and added even more to the overall experience. This place was a pleasant surprise and delivered across the board with great Service, Food, Drinks, and Atmosphere. It easily ranks among my top 10 places to visit in the Sarasota area, and I can't wait to go back. For me, Walt's Fish Market earns 5 out of 5 stars. Gulf Coast Terry

I love Dry Dock Waterfront Grill and I always visit when I am in the Sarasota area. Dry Dock is always busy so I am also sure to make a reservation in advance using Open Table. Typically we sit inside but I know the back patio is popular too. If your timing and patience is perfect, you can also get a nice a nice window seat in the dining room that has sweeping views of Sarasota Bay. The inside atmosphere is bright and airy and although airy often translates to loud, Dry Dock thoughtfully put noise dampening panels on the ceiling. As far as food, I don't think you can go wrong. I always get something with grouper whether it be an entree, sandwich or tacos. On my most recent visit I got the grouper filet with coconut shrimp because I had originally been eyeing up the coconut shrimp as an appetizer. Ultimately, we decided to get the rock crab claws for an appetizer which were good but more work than I planned even though they were pre-cracked. I felt like a Neanderthal trying to eat those crab claws in such a nice restaurant. No offense to the Neanderthals, of course! I have no idea what my husband had as it disappeared. After entrees, apps and bread, we were too stuffed for dessert. I think our server was Cari and she was awesome! Attentive, friendly, funny and quite possibly a mind reader and magician. She saw the hanger in my eyes and made bread magically appear. I hope I got her name correct because she was superb! Shout out to all of the great staff members at Dry Dock -we've never had a bad experience. I love Dry Dock and it will forever stay in my Sarasota rotation.
