As with most restaurants around Roma, Cucina Blasi was kind of hit or miss. We were there twice due to it being only a couple minutes away from our hotel. The service was friendly, but if one is looking for attentiveness, perhaps it may not exist in Roma and that's the way things are in this hustle and bustle city.
The first meals we had were salad, lasagna, lemon chicken, and veal masala. The salad was fresh and crisp and you make your own sauce( they brought you a small bottle of oil and balsamic vinegar spray). The lasagna was light, tender, and tasty. The lemon chicken was buttery tender, and lemony, and the veal was good. After many failed attempts and down right disappointment with foods in Roma, we thought we were lucky to find a good restaurant like this just a step down from our hotel, but we were wrong.
The second time we went back, we were not that lucky. I ordered pasta with red meat sauce, my husband had steak with pepper sauce and fried potatoes, and we washed down our meal with tiramisu dessert. My pasta was inedible just like any pasta dish from many eateries we tried in Roma, both long or short noodles. The pasta was very al dente, chewy, doughy, border line raw, but that's how Roma prefers, I believe. Preference adjustments cannot be accommodated. Take it or leave it. The steak was chewy and the pepper sauce was no where to be found. The tiramisu came in a good size wine glass and was pretty good
To summarize, food in Roma is inexpensive. Pasta dishes average $15. Most of them were inedible due to some dishes were excessive saltiness from the cheese, I assumed, and being border line raw . Red meat ( steak) is chewy. The deserts and pastries for breakfasts are good. The foods we enjoyed the most from Roma was gelato, and pizza. read more
