Let me start by saying, my dog has been asked to leave by groomers and daycare. She's particular about her friends with 2 legs and 4 legs. I tell people she just needs patience, and someone with dog experience. I had an out of town meeting for 5 days and I didn't want to leave her at home because if something went wrong I was an 8 hour drive away. I needed to board her for 2 nights because I was able to keep her at the resort the remaining days. I looked online and Vineyard was near town but definitely "in the country" if that makes sense. I had to drive up a one lane dirt road yet it was about 5 miles from my event. I scheduled a tour, and we showed up early with tennis balls. You see, my pup is crazy about fetch and about tug. If you throw a tennis ball, she'll be your friend. The owner was definitely a dog person, and my dog was definitely being particular, but we did the tour and then one of the woman followed us back and tried to get to know my Maisy and Maisy wasn't having it, that is until I gave the woman a tennis ball. Then Maisy was her bestie :) They don't have indoor outdoor kennels where dogs can relieve themselves outside - they do need to be taken out - there are alot of yards, and alot of dogs. They had a bone shaped swimming pool, toddler beds for the dogs to sleep in (if they aren't destructive. You can order a kong, play time, pool time on top of the walks and other outdoor time. If your dog is daycare ok, I think that is part of the boarding experience. Mine isn't so she had 1-1 time with one of the guys who wore her out playing catch. She also got to go swimming. The price was really reasonable and 100% recommend this boarding kennel because my Maisy was happy to see me when I picked her up, but from the pictures they sent, she also had a great time at the kennels. read more

I've never had to leave my dogs at a boarding facility and I was honestly terrified. They were so flexible scheduling me for a tour and answering ALL my neurotic dog mom questions, they gave me a lot of confidence in them. I appreciated that they told me every morning they evaluate each dog to pair them with a good group. Upon pick up day I scheduled them to get bathed, they told me it would just be a simple bath but honestly both my dogs looked amazing! I appreciated being able to see and hear some of the employees interact with dogs and they truly sound like they love them all! I don't have a lot of experience with boarding dogs but we needed to find a place for a day. We had boarded our previous pup many years ago at a different place and didn't recall the very strong, strange smell as we walked in. I asked to get a tour but was told we couldn't; was given a quick reason but didn't know what it meant. But she was very professional and appeared to be knowledgeable. She was reassuring. At pick up, I asked if I could get notes on how our pup did; the staff did try to find someone but seemed they really didn't have too much to say other than she did fine, slept, and ate. It would be nice if they documented some notes for first time guests. She really stink of "kennel". I gave 3 stars because I liked the fact it was open space for my pup to run around and staff is friendly but can't comment more or less since I didn't see myself the facility other than the dog kennels that you could see from the parking lot had a cloth tarp for shade. We did see what looks like a dog pool and artificial turf area being built which looks exciting. read more

I boarded my three dogs over Christmas. First off, the place reeked like urine. All three dogs got sick with Kennel Cough, despite being vaccinated. When I called to inform the kennel that my dogs were sick, they told me that they had not had any cases of Kennel Cough and that my dogs most likely just had colds. FIVE barks from Dylan, our happy mini Aussie, who just came home from his sixth stay at Vineyard Kennels. Vineyard Kennels was recommended to us by someone we met at the Cambria dog park and she said she'd checked out several other kennels before choosing this one. But even with that strong endorsement, I had some reservations at my first visit. The kennel is old (and it shows) and smelled like dogs. Yes, I know that's a ridiculous statement, given that it is a dog kennel, but I've been to other kennels that had a more sterile odor. That said, I am soooooo glad I was able to see past that. Our dog has been to other kennels that he disliked intensely. His reaction to this place is the opposite. As soon as we let him out of the car to drop him off, he bounds up the steps to the office with great enthusiasm. The staff at Vineyard Kennels did a great job of assessing my dogs's personality and temperament, and they place him with a play group in which he does best. The schedule offers a good mix of active play and exercise with rest periods and down time. The outdoor play yards are dusty but shaded by trees and other materials that protect the dogs from the intense sun and heat in Paso Robles, plus they have kiddie pools of water for the dogs to wade in and cool down in the summer. They also have super cute beds with soft mattresses and blankets that are raised off the floor. Each kennel has a good amount of room to move around too. read more

Wonderful boarding experience! We were in town for a wedding and needed a place to board our two high energy dogs. It was really important for us to board where they would get adequate exercise. We didn't get to town until almost 8 pm but Sabria was flexible and met us to check us in! The check in process was very easy and they keep the information about your dog on the kennel so we knew they were getting the right food. We boarded them for 2 nights and when we picked them up they were having a great time! Great location, great staff, and well organized! Tip: Our dogs were really dirty when we got them, so if you don't want a dirty dog in the car I would recommend paying for a bath. It wasn't an issue for us, just showed us they had fun! read more

My Boyfriend and I stayed in Paso Robles for the weekend with our puppy Maggie. We decided to go to Hearst Castle, and needed a kennel for the day. We chose this one because of their location, and were very satisfied! It was $10 for the day. They fed her, let her play with other dogs and outside. A review on Google said they have 10,000 sq ft outdoor play area. They had a bunch of dogs, and as Maggie is quite shy, we requested she had her own kennel, which they said was not a problem. They close at 4 on Sundays. When dropping and picking up Maggie, the employee was very nice and seemed like he truely liked dogs. This wasn't a Ritz Carlton for dogs, but was surely acceptable, especially with their convenient location off of the 101 and 46. read more

Every morning when I drop my giant, slobbery, hyper puppies off they SPRINT to the self service corral. When I say "Who wants to go to Daycare?!" every morning they lose their fluffy heads. On weekends, they literally look at me all day with sad slobbery faces asking, "Why can't we go to daycare dad ??" My dogs love it at Vineyard Kennels, and the real bonus is, so do we! Their staff is extremely caring and accommodating to our dogs needs. *Bear needs to spend some time alone because he just had something done at the vet? No problem. Nala has to rock the cone of shame for a few days? No problem at all - Whether its Sabria, Jason, or anyone else on staff, they always take care of us. It never ceases to amaze me that amidst the hundreds of dogs they see on a daily basis, they know my two so well. We take our GSD mix pup to daycare twice a week and board him at Vineyard whenever we go out of town. Our dog LOVES it. Just got back from a few days wine tasting in Paso. This kennel was perfectly located and right down the road from where we stayed at the Marriott. The staff was super friendly and the place was very clean. One day we decided to take the dogs to the beach. When we got back to Vineyard Kennels our dogs eagerly headed straight for the back door, which was a great sign. I would not hesitate to use their services again. We boarded our 3 labs on July 18th for one night. The girl that checked us in was great! It took some coaxing from her to get all of them back into the kennel area, and she was really positive and sweet with the pups. When we came the next morning to pick up our dogs, they were brought out right away. Our dogs had been playing in their yard and pool. They were somewhat wet and muddy, which we absolutely didn't mind. All three of them looked so happy! We were only charged $50 for all three of them. Down in the OC, we would've paid around $40 per dog and would've paid extra for play time. We were so pleased with our experience! The next time that we head up to Paso and need to board our dogs for the night, Vineyard Kennels will definitely be our place! read more

This was our first time boarding our dog, and we were excited to find a last minute spot that had such great reviews. However, as a new and cautious dog mom, I was not at ease leaving her. The kennel is definitely not going for presentation... I walked in and while I realize it is a dog kennel, I couldn't stand the smell. I wish the staff seemed more interested in learning about her, as I'm sure you could tell I was hesistant to board her, but the process was pretty run of the mill. I offered more info than they probably wanted (and didn't ask about). We picked her up and she seemed happy. I did schedule a bath for her but when we checked out I was told the bath could only be payed for with cash or check, separately. (?) Good thing we had some extra cash randomly in the car. We got her home and I am 90% sure she was not actually bathed. All in all, Vineyard Kennels was not for us. read more

We kenneled our dog for the first time ever at Vineyard Kennels so we weren't sure what to expect and honestly I was shocked. The smell upon entering the office was horrific. Even with wearing a mask I had to go outside and catch my breath. I was told that it was only because they hadn't cleaned yet but when we picked up it was just as bad! The office staff was very welcoming and nice but it was hard to get past the smell, dirty beds, and toys in the kennels. Our dog was happy when we picked him up and it appears they cared for him but I'm not sure we can get past the conditions. read more

I honestly don't know how this place could get 5 stars. We chose this place to board our family pets based on the 5 star reviews. We left our fully vaccinated and healthy, clean dogs with this kennel for about a week. Over the phone and in person, the people that worked there seemed very conscientious and reassuring as this was the first time we had ever left our pups. Unfortunately, when we picked up our dogs after our trip, I found that they had been moved to a different, much smaller kennel without any of the original accoutrements at drop-off. In addition to losing all the comfort toys and treats (which were clearly labeled) my dogs contracted kennel cough and an ear infection from this place. Taking your dirty, smelly and ailing fur babies to the veterinarian right when you get back from vacation is very distressing and expensive. To add insult to injury, Vineyard Kennels made no attempt to assuage any of our concerns, frustration or disappointment with their services. We have never been back. We now board our dogs with North County Animal Hospital where the facility is clean, the kennels roomy and temperature controlled. The staff is kind and professional and my dogs love it! read more

I was very happy when I picked our dogs up. They were excited to see us but also went and said by to the staff during our exit. That right there says a lot. They accomidated our dogs and let us know that they were very well behaved and seemed liked they really did love each other. There were no reports of fighting or excessive barking. This is now our go to place when we go out of town. And it only cost $190 for all three dogs from Friday to Monday!!!! That is literally half the price we paid at the old place!!! I absolutely LOVE this place. I use their doggy day care while I'm at work and I couldn't be happier with them. The staff are super friendly and their hours are flexible (which is really nice with my insane work schedule). Also Sabria is one of the best grooms I've met! My little guy tends to get himself pretty filthy on a regular basis and Sabria is always able to fit him in quickly and has him looking great when I pick him up. We stayed at the Paso Robles Inn but needed a place for the dogs for 2 nights while we went wine tasting and to a BBQ. The Vinyard Kennel responded via e-mail for our reservation, was responsive to our needs and allowed us to pick the dogs up early, for an early departure.
