If I could give 0 starts I would! I took my 3 mo. old puppy to get groomed for the first time and honestly taking her here was the biggest mistake! When I got to the establishment there were dogs everywhere, I wasn't too comfortable leaving my dog there not knowing if the other dogs had gotten all their vaccines (which btw nobody asked for vaccine records), also nobody was wearing a mask there! Not even when they approached to talk to me, nonetheless I still decided to leave my puppy with them because I like supporting small businesses... I had told one of the groomers that I had cut my puppy's nails a week ago and that she didn't need them cut again, she said she would just file them which I thought was ok... when I picked her up she seemed scared and ready to leave, thought it was normal since it was her fist time, she was whimpering the whole way home but just thought she was scared of the car ride; when we were almost home I noticed dried up blood on my arms, my pants, my sweater and the car door, I quickly checked her doggie chair and there was blood all over it too! When I got home I checked her and her nails were bleeding, not just one but 4 of them! When we called to see why nobody had mentioned it we were simply told that they had forgotten, I was furious!! how could you forget something so important like that! We were told to take her back and she would put some sort of oil to help ease the pain, we drove back and she took her to the back to put the oil (which to be honest I didn't notice anything on her paws but we'll give them the benefit of the doubt) she said she had file them too much and that she was moving so much she had to ask someone else to hold her, she also said that her nail was going to take a while to grow back because she had cut a lot, she then mentioned all the other services she offered but needless to say we won't be coming back. Took my dog in to get groomed, upon picking her up I thought she looked like she hadn't been groomed. We were in a hurry so I didn't notice her condition until I returned to my usual groomer. She was full of mats and her hair and ears had not been trimmed and cleaned. My groomer said my dog had not been taken care of correctly and that was why she was all matted up on her belly, between her toes and face was cut uneven. Worst hair cut I have ever experienced. I was a little worried about finding a groomer for the first cut on my 5-1/2 month sheepadoodle since I wanted her to have a good experience and not end up hating being groomed. Plus not all groomers are experienced with the doodle cuts. I was able to get an appointment reasonably quickly (especially considering the restrictions have just been lifted) and Denise listened to exactly what I was looking for in her grooming. Though my dog was a little nuts and not a fan of the table, she looked fantastic and clearly didn't mind the groomer herself or have issues being there overall. I plan on working with my dog between now and the next appointment so hopefully she'll be more accustomed to being tabled. I have taken my dog to this groomer several times as I have been very sick and unable to do her myself. I have done her for several years as she had gotten a skin condition from anther groomer in town. I bought a table and had a sink installed in my garage so I could do her. Since I have been getting therapy daily for 7 weeks, I was not been able to do her. I choose this groomer because the reviews are good. My daughter took her and picked her up for me. When she dropped her off the women was very indifferent and didn't greet her. But when she picked her up the lady said "she is a crusty old dog and needs to be bathed weekly" and said I should have brought her shampoo!!! It looked like she had not been bathed at all and her cut was gappy like the cutters were dull. My dog is a very sweet rescue cocker and is easy to groom and bathe. I have a very shy Aussiedoodle that I groomed, myself, for the first two years of his life. Once he got to be the size of a standard poodle, it was just too much so I decided to look for someone I could trust with him. I called another "highly rated" grooming place and asked how they handled shy dogs. The lady told me they dealt with what they needed to deal with. Well, THAT answer was NOT acceptable...so...I called A Cut Above and spoke with Denise. She was understanding and compassionate and told me that she would go as slow as Henry needed her to go and that he wasn't her first shy dog. Well, the first visit was horrible, for both of us. You know...fear of the unknown, and all. I was a wreck until Denise called for me to pick Henry up. When I got there, Henry was happily playing, in the back, with some of the other dogs and he looked AMAZING. He has gone back, every three to four weeks, since then, and we LOVE them. Henry is still a little nervous, but they take their time and he is always clean and perfectly groomed when I pick up my happily bouncing furball! We boarded our two Havanese pups with Denise over Thanksgiving. She was so sweet to include them in "her pack" at the grooming studio during the day. I've been leery of taking my dog to a groomer, but my German Shepherd wouldn't let me trim her fur anymore. It's hot where I live in the summer, so I like to keep my dogs' coats short for comfort. I wanted two main things from this appointment, other than the actual trimming: 1, I wanted my dog treated well, which would mean she looked happy, not scared, when I picked her up. 2. I wanted my dog to spend as little time as possible at the groomer (I don't like the idea of my dog waiting in a cage). The grooming started on time and was done within an hour. I opted out of a bath and nail trim, for the first time. My dog was happy, well-trimmed and outta there in an hour. Success! Thank you, Denise. I took my cat here to get nails trimmed, bathed, and hair trimmed. Granted my cat is feisty, sure, but they butchered my cat and charged me $50 to do so! Assuming they spent the whole time grooming her from drop off to calling me for pick up, it was barely 1.5 hrs of time they spent trying to accomplish the job they were hired to do. And all she got was bald spots on her sides, as if they maybe ran the hair trimmers through her a couple of times, if that. And those spots aren't pretty or evenly cut either. No nail trim, full hair cut, or bathed, as needed and expected. With tip, I paid $60 to have my cat mutilated and traumatized, and me absolutely enraged! Had they told me it'd be $50 regardless of what they could (or in this case, couldn't) accomplish, I wouldn't even have gone. Not to mention they have a cat roaming the place and 4 small dogs running around as well (which I didn't even consider for my cats behavior until I got home and saw how horrible my poor baby looked). No wonder my cat wouldn't/couldn't behave, duh! She doesn't like other cats and is terrified of dogs. Seriously? What sort of business are you running expecting an outdoor cat who doesn't like unknown animals or to be bathed (hence going to a groomer in the first place) to be ok with other animals while she's being bathed/groomed while feeling trapped? No wonder she was terrified and unmanageable because this environment is totally unacceptable for cat grooming! I am beyond angry. And upon pick up my cat's kennel was facing the wall in the shops kennel, where she wasn't even able to see out of her cage. And I also couldn't see the butchered job they did then either. They should disclose that they'll charge $50 even if they don't do anything, and that they have cat and dogs roaming around and ask/care if that could possibly effect your pet getting groomed. Nothing like that was discussed before hand. Completley unprofessional! I am still beyond livid and disgusted with how my cat and I were treated. My friend who recommended this place is so appalled at how my cat looks that she won't be returning here with her 2 cats ever again. I would recommend doing it yourself or leaving kitty dirty before coming here and paying someone else good, hard earned $ to terrify and mutilate your cat. read more

My dog Cruz first time at A Cut Above. I have had a mobile groomer come to the house because I did not want Cruz stuck in a cage all day as all groomers do. Denise the owner said he would not be caged and when I picked him up 3 hours later he was laying right next to her working station. She kept her word as other groomers before my mobile groomer(who moved out of state) just caged him. Cruz had a beautifully perfect shave as he is a golden retriever that lives in our pool. 5 star just sad I didn't find her sooner. Also love that she lets the animals be free and not caged. As for those that have a problem with urine smell (in someone else's post ,which there was no smell), if an uncaged dog is having a non stressed bath, you should go elsewhere or try holding your pee the next time someone says get in the car lets go. read more

I've taken my dog to this place three times. The first time was a simple bath and a little trim. The owner fit him in so I was very appreciative. The second time I made the appointment in advance with the intention that he would not be a cage for so long. He again was there for a bath and a trim. My dog was there four hours and when I picked him up it looked like he had just had a bath but nothing else was done. Thought I'd try one more time. We agreed that the dog would have a summer cut but the head & tail would just be shaped, trim the feet and not to shave the stomach to the skin. Two hours after I dropped the dog off I get a call asking if I wanted the dog to have a hair cut???? Please note we discussed this when I dropped him off and was told, repeatedly, that she knew what I wanted and it was all "on his card". Three and a half hours later I pick up my dog and he was SCALPED. She even cut off the eyelashes, no facial hair, shaved his abdomen to the skin.. for that matter shaved the entire body almost to the skin... even shaved all the hair off the top of his head!!!!!! To say I was shocked is an understatement. FYI the dog is a poodle mix When I asked what happened .. how could she have done this... she referred to a card belonging to a different dog!!!! I was shrugged off with a casual "oh well.. all I can do is apologize". My dog looks butchered.. he is scratching like crazy because his skin is so irritated from being shaved and there was no offer of a refund ... just a shrug and back to talking with the other person working there. I will not be returning. The place smells bad, the owner is disorganized, it doesn't matter how much in advance you make an appointment, your pet will still be in a cage for at least four hours, to say you know what the owner wants "cause it's on the card" and then use a wrong card (by the way... my dog is a male, the card she referred to is a female with a female name!?) and to shrug off a customer is just bad business. I recommend you stay away from this place. read more
