I cannot recommend this place enough!
Vinarno is relatively new, but the owner Francesco has started something really special. My wife and I walked in on a whim for a glass of wine in the afternoon, and we ended up staying until 9pm because of the hospitality. We had several glasses of wine and sampled some of the local breads and meats, all of which are sourced from Francesco's home town in Chianti (he commutes into Florence every day to run this place). In particular, his hometown salami with fennel seeds is incredible.
We were the only people in the place for most of the time because we went in the afternoon on a week day. Francesco spent a lot of time with us and gave us several recommendations for how to explore Florence and Chianti like a local rather than a tourist. Very much appreciated.
Francesco also makes sandwiches, and this comprises a large part of his business (he does a lot of take-away business for locals at lunch time). We were in between meals so we did not indulge, but we will definitely go back for lunch before we leave Florence. read more
