THEY RAN OUT OF PARMESAN CHEESE....what?!! At an Italian restaurant!?
That's like an Indian restaurant running out of curry or a sushi bar of fish. But that wasn't even the main issue at Villagio, to say the least.
To put it succinctly, the food was tasteless and greasy (i.e. it had no parmesan cheese in it) or anything good for that matter. Although they could have quickly solved this issue by crossing the street to Tesco's and buying some, instead of continuing to cook food without its main ingredient. To substitute for the parmesan, they though it was a reasonable idea to used processed grated cheddar cheese. On what planet is that even OK to do?
Not only that, the service was dismal and rude; no smiles, no pleases or thank yous. Words were barked at you. When we complained about the food, it was met with "Well that's not true!". For instance, I ordered Tortellini (a filled round pasta) and was served Ravioli (a filled square pasta), which I pointed out the mistake and asked if they had even served me the right dish? I was told that the owners were authentic Italians and they know what Tortellini is and that I was wrong. I'm sorry, but I've eaten tortellini in Italy and it was a round shape. You can google it! Even Torteloni is round.
After all of the offences listed above our group decided to to not pay the service charge. The waitress pointed it out and I politely responded that because of the issues we were not going to pay it. One of my coworkers had put cash in and the waitress just picked up the cash, without returning the change my coworker was owed, and said "I'll take this then and you can go" spun on her heel and stormed off. It was simply unacceptable!!
So, in short - do not go to Villagio, avoid it at ALL COSTS. read more
