Searched to check the hours, and saw that it had only one review - a rather negative one. Thought…read moreI'd balance it out. I've been here many times. Always found them to be very patient and helpful. The hardware store always has what I need. I used the lumber yard for a deck, with no issues. The prior review complained about handyman references. This is the Catskills. I've gone through roughly a dozen folks here. They all came recommended. They all were a huge disappointment - some after a few jobs, some after one. I've learned never to pay half up front without references, and I've posted to social media those folks who take half up front and disappear. Sadly, it has happened a couple of times. It's not the fault of the establishment thst recommended them.

There isn't so much wrong with Williams Lumber as there is with their recommendations of…read morecontractors. I relied on them to refer me to a contractor to do a roof repair on my home and they only provided me with two names. I went with Joe Remley- Builder/ Contractor or Ashland, NY and it turned out he was not such a good reference. In fact I had an awful experience. Remley required that I give him a down payment of several thousand dollars to have my roof repaired. I paid Remley the money he wanted and never saw him again. He didn't do any of the work he was supposed to do and has not been responsive to phone calls. Joe Remley is not directly affiliated with Ace Hardware/ Williams Lumber, that I know of, but I relied on Ace Hardware/ Williams Lumber to provide me with a reliable contractor and he wound up ripping me off and scamming me out of thousands of dollars with no work done. This is more of a warning to others to watch out for Joe Remley and to not put so much trust into Williams Lumber for contractor references. Very disappointed.

This Houst & Son on Tinker St in the heart of Woodstock is independently owned- falling within the fold of the True Value brand. We've relied on these folks for years especially when we've stayed at a local B&B with access to their grill then come here for a bag of charcoal briquettes. We'll still get those- but now as things have changed for us, we're getting kitchen items, cast-iron skillets, etc to use on weekends when we're in town. The right side of Houst is dedicated to kitchen items such as cutlery, cleaning supplies, pots+pans, serving spoons, welcome mats+other outdoor items. The left side has painting supplies, plumbing products and other DIY projects that need seeing quickly. For bigger home improvements, ask. Price? It's Woodstock. I'm not driving out of my way to save a a few dollars. But, these folks have a rewards system which you can accumulate and use for future purchases. As far as service, it's unbeatable.

True Value of New Paltz is the first place you need to go to for any project. The staff is awesome…read moreand they provide helpful expert advice at no cost. I have been coming here for 10+ years, always first before Lowe's because it is so clean and easy to navigate. Eileen seems to know everything about the store from memory. Andy and Brian don't sit still, they are always flying around helping everyone find the right stuff. I recently went there looking for furniture hardware to fix my bed headboard, right before the store closed. Glenn and Lou both helped me design a new bolt/nut setup to fix the pieces with stronger parts so it wouldn't break again, while using the existing drilled holes so it looks perfect. I was the last customer out as they were shutting off the lights and then I heard it was even Lou's birthday...stayed late to help me with a $10 purchase. This is how True Value earns the loyalty of their customers and takes the stress and uncertainty out of the average DIY jobs. Glenn and Lou could tell how important this repair was to me, and they gave it the same attention as a major renovation. It is amazing how cheap it can be to fix/maintain things instead of buy new ones. Take some digital pics and bring to the store and tell the crew to give you whatever you need to tackle the project. Be sure to rent tools from them too, so easy and cheap! They will even deliver the equipment to your house for you. Get Benjamin Moore paints from them too, good stuff lasts longer than junk and requires fewer coats...your time is valuable!

Very helpful and friendly staff, eager to assist you in finding what you need. Nice, clean,…read morewell-organized store. Dog-friendly.

What a nightmare !!! I drove on Sunday, almost 2 hours to go back to the place to take measurements…read moreof a table and chair set that I had saw the prior week. I had called the store to tell them I was on my way and to make sure they still had the set in their showroom. When I arrived, I took the measurements that I needed, but I was missing one crucial measurement from my home. With just about an hour left of the store to stay open, I told the woman I would go straight home,Take measurements, and if I can call her back Monday morning.she Stated that they don't reopen until Thursday, but she gave me a business card and circled Denise's number and said i can call denise on her cell phone and you let her know if i in fact wanted it after taking an additional measurement at home.PS,I wasn't even halfway home when they called me from the store and a gentleman spoke to me and said he was giving me a courtesy Call to let me knowThey just had just in fact SOLD THE SET!!!! I said are you kidding me? I am not even halfway home yet. I told you I was going home to take measurements! That was not a courtesy call!! a courtesy call would have been to call me and say that there was someone at the store that was willing to purchase the set right then and there and it would've been my decision whether I wanted to at that point give them my credit card number and just tell them charge it to me,and risk it by me not being home yet to take that 1 extra measurement or I would've said to them you know what forget it ,just sell it to that person. That's what you call a courtesy call in the business world not this bullshit. You calling me up when I'm not even halfway home telling me you just sold the set. That's not a courtesy call!! How completely unprofessional!! this place sucks I will never recommend it to anybody and I am going to share this review on all the sites I can reach out to! Plus, I belong to over 20 sites privately what a waste of my time how disrespectful to do that to a new potential client !! That is called greed at its finest and you know what buddy what comes around goes around! One day karma will rear it head Unfortunately, you can't post a review with zero stars. I am forced to hit one star they don't even deserve that.
