Dr. McConarty is a thoughtful, outstanding optometrist who helped me with my eye problems and vision the way other optometrists could not. He also took his time to explain things to me and take a holistic approach. Linda, the office manager at the Village Eye Center in Potomac, is a perfectionist who has become the most trusted optician for me - her ability to design and adjust my progressive lenses and guide me through every step of the process. Even after many years and travels all around the world, I always come back here for my glasses. Dr. M gives an excellent eye exam where you never feel rushed and if you have any questions he can answer them. He always recommends contacts that work well for me as well. Scott and Brandon offer excellent customer service and even though I just get lenses into my rimless frames they are never pushy and never try to upsell. They really know their stuff and I appreciate their feedback. This is a boutique place that offers unique and different frames. You won't find them in Lenscrafters because they do not sell anything "Made in China". You pay more for quality and that is what the offer here, quality. read more

The BEST place to buy glasses by far! The Potomac location has the most extensive inventory with all the high end brands & new collections including Chanel! The staff (Marta, Karen & Jamie) are so patient & helpful in navigating the decision process. They are honest & never pressured me even though I came back multiple times because there were so many amazing frames to choose from. I felt totally comfortable there & really appreciated their opinions on which frames suited my small face. You get undivided personalized attention which is rare these days. Thank you so much to Dr M, Scott, and the rest of the VEC team. I don't say this lightly- you changed my life. I've never been able to tolerate contact lenses. But with mask mandates I was losing my mind with foggy glasses. Dr. M patiently discussed the pros and cons of contact lenses and Scott spent an hour with me getting me comfortable at taking them in and out. I'm now a contact lens convert. Since I'm not a frequent yelper, I guess yelp doesn't recognize me since this should be an "update" not a new review. I wrote a review in 2011 and while all that I said was true, I feel morally obligated to UPDATE my old review... Over the last 7 years I have come infrequently to this shop and yes, their selection of frames is really miniscule (compare to lenscrafters), but that (and their sky-high prices) are the only thing holding them back from 5-stars! Scott Ceresini is the best customer service guy in the eyeglasses biz I have ever run into! While he never has the outlandish glasses frames I want ("Livestrong, Oakley, etc) he goes "above and beyond" to look them up on the internet, tells me that if I want them and VEC doesn't carry them, he would actually make the lenses for them. not many places would do that! He is also a "master" at fitting my "drill mount" glasses to my cranium. I probably come is once a month to get them adjusted (they're super light weight and not good for wrestling with kids!) and every time I leave, they fit perfectly, once again! I know Potomac is a little out of the way "boutique" place, but if you want to be competitive, take a "page" out of lenscrafters showroom and put in a floor-to-ceiling wall of frames featuring what's "trending" on Amazon, not just in the geriatric set! Again, in case you miss my point, Scott is awesome and can help you get whatever you want, BUT...they need more representation ACROSS THE BOARD in eyewear IN THE SHOP! Do that, and be price competitive, and I'd love to give 5-stars! read more

The only reason Village Eye Center gets a 5-star rating is because I can't give them a 10-star rating. The staff here are ALWAYS very thorough and helpful and I've been here quite a bit. I've bought a handful of glasses, put new lenses in old glasses, and even purchased prescription sunglasses and every time my experience was flawless. They're also very good about repairs....I would know... Dr. M is a great doctor who I've seen time and time again without any problems and can now see better than ever with the glasses I've purchased from there. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! read more

A visit to Village Eye Center is always painless and even enjoyable. Dr. McConarty and the staff seem to always be in a good mood and excited to help me. This time, I visited with both of my young children and they could not have been more accommodating to them as well as to me. Annie has a true gift of picking out frames that fit my face. Every time I have worked with her, I go through 50 or more pairs of glasses (which she patiently helps me through) and I end up buying the first pair she recommended. I love this place! Boutique eye place tucked away in the heart of Potomac. I come here for everything- from eye exams to getting the latest shades for summer. I have received eye exams from both Dr. M and Dr. W- both fantastic, kind, and really know what they're doing. I've worn contacts/ glasses for 20 years, and I've been to many eye doctors in this area, and I always run into issues with getting the right prescription the first time, but these doctors nail it. The staff are knowledgeable and extremely helpful when it comes to helping you pick out frames,but are not pushy at all. When you want quality and care, this is the place to go. Their selection and professionalism is top notch. The pricing is fair for what you get - I personally see a lot of value in the purchase. There is definitely a premium over eye glass chains but there is no comparison on quality or selection. I have been going here for over 10 years and have never left unsatisfied. In fact, all the frames and lenses I have purchased (over 8 pair) are still in good shape despite regular wear (I did lose one). I tried going to one other company over the years based on good advertising for low cost/high quality complete eye glasses and was really disappointed. The frame quality was low and the type of lenses I needed were not included. I would recommend Village Eye to anyone looking for the best high end selection, who expects great service, and needs the best to ensure proper vision. read more

I just had to write a review after my second visit here today. Both visits were amazing!! The first visit was an emergency as I was having eye surgery and needed glasses for after the procedure. I had an eye exam and the glasses within two hours. And never having worn glasses before Fozia helped me pick a pair and they are beautiful and the prescription is just right. This second visit was to get an exam for new contact lenses. Dr. McConarty, during both visits, was friendly, not rushed and knows how to get just the right prescription for your eyes. After this exam, Annie spent about 45 minutes training me on how to insert and remove my contact lenses even though I already wear contacts but find the process of taking them out and putting them in difficult. She was extremely patient with me- explaining the best procedure , wrote out the instructions and even used my cell phone to take a picture of the instructions since I was concerned I might lose them. Scott manages the Center and is also extremely affable, as are all of the other members of the "team." I highly recommend the Village Eye Center- they are so friendly and helpful AND you get the right prescription. If you need eyeglasses or contacts this is the very best place to go! read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! Save yourself sometime and go to some other place. Took my glasses for repair, they order the wrong part and when I went to pick them up the put parts that I did not order, but their explanation was "the part we put cost the same you order". The people at the store have an attitude issue and it looks like they are not customer oriented, in addition they do know what they sell since what they sold me did not fit my glasses.
