I've been once and I already know I'll be back for more. My first visit was just for ice cream (dessert), I had already eaten at another restaurant in town. While I waited for my concrete with M & M's, I noticed all the good looking burgers being consumed on the patio. Some had fries and they were crinkle, which is my favorite style. Others had onion rings, which were from a bag and that's okay when you're a little drive-in style restaurant. I'm coming back for a double cheeseburger and fries. I didn't pay attention if there's an inside dining room, when I arrived everyone was on the front patio. I had the intentions of getting a twist cone of vanilla and chocolate, but when I went to order, a small concrete with M & M's came out of my mouth. Typically I ask if they use mini or regular candies, but today I forgot to ask. The reason I ask is, size does matter. Especially with M & M's in a concrete. Regular sized blend better and add more flavor. To my delight, they did use regular sized and I'm going to say something, that I rarely say. My concrete had too many M & M's. The deeper I ate into my concrete, the candies became thicker with each bite. Yes, it was delightful, but in this case less could have been better. The staff were young, professional and friendly. Customers order at one window and pick-up at the next. They call out what your order was and a few times they called out a persons name. I'm assuming they are regulars, or being a small town, everyone knows each other. Watch for an update, about my burger and fries. read more

A very nice little place in a small town. We had come into town to check out another spot for my wife to possibly sell some of her quilting artwork. It fits into the town well, it is well kept, but doesn't really stand out. I almost drove by, but the GPS saved us. You see the outdoor seating structure before you realize it is actually the restuarant. I am sure the local know exactly what and where it is. I had a cheeseburger with fries, and my wife got a corn dog and onion rings. The food came out pretty quickly, we sat inside to eat. All of the dishes were made correctly, not special, but certainly fresh. We also got soft serve cones, chocolate and vanilla. Very reasonable pricing on everything. The two young ladies working today were pleasant and welcoming. They work hard and know everyone (except for us, until today). I suspect we will be back over the years, we are just one town over. read more

The girls working the windows are nice & helpful. Food is delicious, cheeseburgers, onion rings or fried green beans is my go to order. It's so good and you get a lot. The ice cream is so creamy! I swung by for a quick lunch, thinking a simple cheeseburger, fries, and a soda would be an easy order--especially since there were only two other people outside. Somehow, it took over 25 minutes to get my food. Twenty-five minutes. For a burger. In a nearly empty restaurant. If I had known I'd be wasting half my lunch break waiting for a fast-food-level meal, I'd have gone literally anywhere else. And when it finally did show up, the food wasn't even good. Either grease was set to high or fish was in to long, the fish inside was not bad but was slightly over cooked (leading to the shrinkage in between the batter and fish) but this batter left a lot to be desired. The batter should be crunchy but not to the point it sends shrapnel everywhere with every bite, also I would recommend taking a little time to prep the filets better by cleaning the dark meat off the fillets more, had a mucky taste to it vindictive of darker meat. Will try again in a few months and update if I have a better experience. It should be noted this is not a fish place and there pulled pork is 5 star worth in my book, but if it's on your menu you should be delivering above 3 starts or consider removing it from said menu read more

Stopped in here on the way back to Edwardsville with my parents, nice little food and ice cream stand. Got BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich and Mom got a burger. She said they are "real" burgers, grilled and look patted out. Pulled pork was tasty. Curly fries were good. Dad said this place is open seasonally. They have ice cream and all kinds of different things you can get on signs stuck to their windows. Service and food quality on the decline this year for some reason. I still do enjoy the food but some are not tasting like they used to and smaller portions. Great ice cream choices, however! Call ahead or be prepared for very long wait times. The ordering system seems a little confusing. Nobody seems to know if you are waiting for food that you already ordered, or if you need to still place an order. VDI, as the locals call it, enjoy the ice cream and summer treats. It's open in early spring and closes as Fall appears. However most evenings you can find ball teams and families congregate in the parking lot. There are several tables outside and even 4 stools inside to avoid mosquitoes. We are moving to Bunker Hill soon, and after spending a day in Bunker Hill getting things ready for our move, we went to VDI to get some much-needed food. The workers were very friendly and answered all of our questions about menu items, popular food, etc. They made a few suggestions, which did not disappoint! The burgers were delicious, the shakes were fantastic, and a great time was had by all. I would highly recommend checking out this place if you're ever in the area!
