This sweet, snug coffee shop in Multnomah Village is like stepping back in time. It's quiet and unpretentious, though a little fuggy inside. That wasn't a nuisance as it lent to the cozy feel, but my glasses did steam up, and I couldn't see for the first 5 minutes. :O) The food offerings are humble, but there's a decent variety. I had a marionberry fazzoletti & amaretto latte. My pastry was fresh and sweet, and my amaretto latte was tasty. A humble, unpretentious and small establishment that feels exactly what locals need. There's nothing modern about this place.. it's unapologetically itself. Ordered an 8oz americano. It was sufficient on its own. I was told that they get their coffee from Cafeto in Eugene. Well played. Staff were helpful and service was fast. There is a bathroom for customers which is always a plus. Prices are very fair for the area. Food options are limited to pastries and oatmeal. Parking is a challenge but there are so many great places to visit once you are situated in the Village. Pass on the Starbucks down the street and try this place instead! read more

This teeny tiny coffee shop is pretty good--it makes me wonder why someone would choose Starbucks over this place for their cup of Joe. Their prices aren't bad, except that they charge $1.25 for a breve drink which is kind of ridiculous. I ordered a chai and their chai was REALLY good. It had a very subtle taste and I wish I knew that brand they used because if it's available I'd consider buying it to make at home. They only have two or three tables and maybe a couple theatre chairs, so it's not really a place that might be comfortable for folks to hang out terribly long. (Maybe that's why one would choose Starbucks instead.) There's only street parking but this is definitely a neighborhood hangout. read more

Went in on 3/27/2025 a little after 2pm. I went to the counter and got my payment out. There was a person behind the counter who was making a drink. The person didn't acknowledge me, say hello, or say they would be with me once they finished up. They ignored me as I stood at the counter for a couple of minutes. I left. I won't be going back. 10/10 The coffee hit the spot at a reasonable price with excellent service from a super welcoming and helpful staff (shoutout Olas!!). Had no expectations coming in but was surprised by the space. Every seat was comfortable and well spaced out and conducive to chatting and working or just relaxing and people watching. I can tell I'll be coming here a lot more often. Olas explained the history of the corner sweating and was super/well above expectations attentive and caring. Sometimes it really pays to explore new coffeeshops!!! Friendliest, coolest baristas in Portland, hands down. The place WOULD be cooler if there was more stuff to eat that gluten-intolerant people could have -- doesn't even have to be dedicated-kitchen, just stuff without wheat and barley! -- but I guess the BRM oatmeal works in a pinch in the afternoon (if you didn't already eat oameal for breakfast most mornings) (or if you could eat intense chocolate-dredged coconut more than once a month). But best baristas. Absolutely. Maybe New Cascadia bakery/bread/bagels or their pizza? I've given that to people who raved about the bread and halfway through said, "WHAAAT?! You say this is--? My absolute favorite coffee shop. Been going here for years, and I see it as a second home. The baristas are always so kind, coffee is great, music is sweet (love it when they play KMHD), and it's perfectly cozy. The sketchbooks & art supplies they leave for customers to draw/write whatever they feel is also such a neat touch. VC is the ideal nook to go read, journal, or catch up with a friend. First time here. Finally made it after driving by this place numerous times. Cute little coffee shop and the barista told one customer that this coffee shop has been here for 24 years. What? What? That's great. I ordered vanilla, extra hot, no foam, latte, and a Marionberry w/ cream cheese Fazzolett pastry. Coffee and pastry tasted really good. Decor is simple yet not pretentious. Inside are six tables with chairs, booth-seat like, and 3 chairs probably from an old theater. Outside seating is also available. Service was good. Always nice and great service but they always put way too much milk in the coffee, and twice now we've been given the wrong sized cup for what we paid/asked for. Owner, please tell your employees to put less milk in the lattes we love coming here since they're so nice but the milky coffee is a turn off. read more

They have the best servers they make these little decorations on your coffee with the foam froth there they make sheep like leaves and trees and other things their coffees delicious. The atmosphere is great and the service is wonderful. read more

Stopped by here randomly one day because my girlfriend needed coffee and happened to be in the neighborhood. Absolutely horrible service and I wouldn't recommend. I walked up to counter and the guy was busy so I just took a look at the menu and waited. He then walks up to the counter and I tell him my order while looking at what's on the menu and the pastries they have etc... He then says "Hi" really loudly and irritated / passive aggressively. Apparently I didn't say Hi or he didn't hear me say it I guess. Right after he takes my order and he's making the drink I see the card reader flashing insert card while Im still standing at the counter. I can't remember if he put my order in the system or not but just want the whole encounter to be over quicker. So I take the chance and put my card in the reader so I can just pay and get the hell out of there quickly. Apparently he had not put it in the system yet. He slams down whatever he's doing with the drink he's making. Tells me to hold on and is talking shit under his breath and has attitude while putting the drink in the system so I can pay. Then after all that the drink was so fucking bad that me and my girlfriend each had one taste of it and just threw it out. Pretty sure he intentionally made it horrible after seeing his little temper tantrum. read more

I will choose to support a small coffee house over Starbucks any day... However, they only offer soy and rice milks as alternatives. The soy was ambiance brand, which makes no mention of being non-GMO, which means they either can't guarantee their source, or they intentionally don't mention it. Staff assured me it was probably fine... (as a side note: over 90% of soy grown in the US is GM). Coffee was served way too hot, burned my tongue and the roof of my mouth from a tiny sip. Latte had bubbly froth. I may give them another try, I wanted to give feedback though. read more

I popped into Village Coffee with a sleeping baby in my arms. It was quaint and I desperately needed coffee. I ordered a latte and was reaching with the one arm I had free for my purse. However, I've had a couple bad experiences with one of the servers and his rude demeanor is way out of line. He was rude to my wife today and that is why I'm writing this negative review for a business I care about. I believe his name is Olas and I'm surprised he has a job there still. EXCELLENT white chocolate mocha. Much better than what I could get a couple block over at Starbucks for sure. Five stars for awesome white chocolate mocha alone! The place is pretty small. But there is a wall of magazines and board games and it seems like a great place to spend a lazy afternoon or weekend and people watch. I usually go to Village Coffee (or Grand Central) to avoid supporting Starbucks but Village Coffee is in a rut and Should consider doing some things to up their game. The decor hasn't changed in the 7-9 years I've been going there (and hasn't been taken apart for a good housecleaning either.) They've had the same pastries for years as well, and I'm sure I'm not the only gf patron who would appreciate some gf offerings. ---- Still dark and dirty- please please freshen it up. Some of THE best coffee in Oregon. My boyfriend has been coming here for more than 14 years and brings back coffee from every trip to Portland. Everyone at his work RAVES about it. The Peruvian coffee blend is his/their/our favorite. Worth going out of your way to stop in and grab a pound of coffee and get a free 12 oz with every pound you buy. They charge an absurd amount for alternative milks. Soy is an extra dollar and coconut and hemp are even more. On top of this, the espresso is nothing special, pretty meh. If you'd like to pay $9 for two small, mediocre soy lattes, definitely check this place out. read more

The service is always so calm here and quick. The prices are reasonable for the quality of coffee you get(I'd say the the quality is much higher than what they charge (; ) all around a great little spot. Fresh made pastries and coffee cake. Cereal is available which is such a cute little extra! I've never seen that available at a coffee shop. While the rest of southwest throbs with more a suburban vibe than the other quadrants, Multnomah Village is a genuine pocket of a neighborhood reminiscent of southeast Portland.
