Trois crevettes dans un plat de Pad Thai?!? Quelque chose ne va pas. There are a number of smallish Asian restaurants in this area - on this street (Tiquetonne) in fact. Plus, its within walking distance of where I stay. And, Villa Papillon has good Yelp ratings so I figured it was worth a shot. Pad Thai is my standard for judging Thai food; at least initially. Almost every self respecting Thai restaurant has it on the menu with the exception of Pok Pok (Oregon and NYC). Andy Riker doesn't need to prove anything in the world of Asian-Thai cuisine. His creations and especially the Spicy Chicken Wings are other-worldly. On the other hand, when a chef makes a great Pad Thai, it's memorable. What was that place I ate tonight? The Nems (crispy rolls) as a starter were ok. Not great, but not bad either. I liked that they included a lot of very fresh mint and lettuce - all good. However the Pad Thai had some problems. I can accept the fact that this it had no tofu (egg yes, tofu no). I can accept the fact that the noodles were a bit undercooked - I know what I'm talking about here because this is the only way I seem to be able to prepare Pad Thai myself - unless I go the other direction and overcook them into an inedible gooey mess. In other words, I know about rice noodles. When they are undercooked they are a bit difficult to chew apart and the fish oil, water, rice vinegar and sugar sauce isn't completely infused - which was the condition of this dinner. I can accept all of this ^^^. But what I can't accept is three (3), count them THREE medium-sized shrimp. Seriously - three small pieces of protein for 13 Euro?!?!? All told my dinner: 5 crispy rolls, one Pad Thai with 3 shrimp and one beer came to an even 25 Euro. Afterward I walked over to Palais Royal and past Baan Boran where the Pad Thai is 12 Euro...Ouch. read more

Mon voyage à Paris a été il ya trois ans, mais à l'époque, j'étais incapable d'accéder Yelp.com de l'Amérique, et donc je n'ai pas pu écrire un commentaire. Merci à la technologie de 2010, je peux maintenant non seulement un restaurant Yelp j'ai apprécié il ya si longtemps, mais je ne peux même traduire mon avis, bien que mal, en français. Mon arrivée en France pour la première fois a été douce-amère. J'ai été très heureux de le voir pour la première fois, si nous prenions les cendres de mon père à se disperser sur la Seine, et de prendre ma mère au nord de Normandie pour voir son frère grave, un frère, elle a perdu en 1945 et depuis n'a jamais visité le lieu de sépulture en raison du manque d'opportunité. J'ai rencontré l'un des chefs de ma première nuit dans la ville, et après une brève conversation, a appris de son restaurant. Mon ami et moi sommes allés le lendemain soir. Et la prochaine. Et la prochaine. Pendant les dix jours, j'étais à Paris, je suis allé six fois, ironiquement choisir la nourriture thaïe au cours de la cuisine française que la plupart des Américains Voyage à Paris pour en profiter. Il était bon que, et mon amitié avec le chef, un gars vraiment super, même si elle n'a duré que peu de temps, je me sentais très relié à Paris. For my dear Sin and Nicholas!!!! I've never written a review before but I was touched by the wonderful coziness in Villa Papillon! I'm a vegetarian thai food lover and I was so happy with the Pad Thai and Vegetable Stir Fry my cousin and I ordered. Thanks to Sin for the awesome refreshing drinks, and Nicholas for the sweet service. You guys made me feel so comfortable! We were originally going to go to Silk & Spice, but they ended up being closed for renovations. I am so glad they were, as it allowed us to discover this gem of a restaurant! This was some of the best Thai food I've had in a long time. I appreciated the separate vegetarian menu listings--simplifying the usually arduous task of identifying the veggie options on a french menu. We started with the vegetable and avocado appetizer, which was absolutely delicious. Followed by the Green Curry with Tofu for me, and the Veggie Pad Thai for my wife. Both were amazing. The restaurant is set in a pedestrian only area that resembles exactly what I would wish for dinner in Paris. The service stood out as friendly and attentive for Paris standards. This is a little nice stylish Thai fusion restaurant. Award winning Elle magazine . The owner used to be a top stylist in French fashionista editorials magazines. I have tasted the authentic Thai but modernised touched for twice while I was there for 2 weeks. "The love potion" cocktails,rum and pomegranate juice was delightful. It make you feels sassy!! And then a best seller which was A fried squid sour salad and avocado was deliciouso ! Also I was with a brunch of vegetarian models and they were happy with their meals. Food is 4 stars May be the best Thai food I have had outside of NYC. The place is cozy(read small) bit nice. Although this was the only restaurant in all of Paris that I came across that had flies. They weren't like over us or bothering us but I was surprised to see a group of flies in a restaurant here. Anyways I ordered the pad Thai and my wife order the green curry with chicken. My pad Thai was really good however this is the first time I ordered pad Thai and was able to finish the plate by myself. I was definitely full but normally pad Thai (at least in my experience) has come in portions that are quote large and is usually good for my petite wife and I. Can't complain really as it was a very good balance and the shrimp in there wa cooked to perfection. My wife really enjoyed her curry as well. Minus a star for the flies. A hidden gem serving flavorful food in perfect portions by a friendly waitstaff. My now husband and I found this place by performing a Yelp search for restaurants as were were staying near the Etienne-Marcel metro station. We opted to sit outside on the narrow 'sidewalk' which allowed us to dine while the sun was setting and observe passersby (there weren't that many as the street is somewhat secluded and very residential which meant a few bicyclists and pedestrians, but not many cars). Our owner-server was incredibly gracious and welcoming and fluent in English, to boot. We ordered from the prix fixe menu for two (still 55€ according to their website), so I'll try and recall while referring to their current à la carte menu: to start - Brochette de poulet grillé & sauce satay + something else I can't recall, as our entrees (we each chose 1) - Poulet au curry vert, aubergines thaïes et mini maïs & Canard grillé sauce tamarin & épinards frais, for dessert - Panacotta aux fruits de la passion. Everything was plated beautifully, smelled as fantastic as it tasted, and left us satisfied. It was our last dinner before departing to the States and were grateful our trip ended on a high note. We were so grateful our money was well-spent since we decided to 'treat ourselves' a bit and eat at a 'fancy' restaurant which didn't even fit the term to begin with -- it was neither pretentious nor pricey. The food was excellent for all of us in our group of 4. The pad thai looked tasty, and the curry I was served was beyond comparison compared to most Thai places. Might possibly be the best Thai food in Paris, at least in my experience. Try it out! read more
