I submitted multiple requests for spraying, but the treatments were ineffective. I even purchased my own spray, which didn't help either. The manager mentioned she sees 1 or 2 in her own unit every now and then so I believe there might be an issue in each building. It was impossible to seal the water heater vents so its likely that the roaches are migrating between units. On another note, the apartment grounds stayed neat, quiet, and relatively safe.

We are located about 3 miles away from Costco, WinCo,the mall, and Walmart so you don't really need to drive far for whatever you may need, as well as about 3 miles from the college, so great for people going to CSUB. We've never once felt unsafe, and we came here from Lancaster where you would lock your pets up if someone came down the road. Overall it's a great place to live!

Work orders have been lagging behind for weeks, often times with management forgetting about the appointment. When I moved out a huge chunk of my deposit was taken out to repair things that were there prior to moving in and written in lease agreement. The apartments are old and there were lots of spots on the carpets, dings, and the carpet was old and falling apart, all things that were not fixed prior to my tenancy, and I got charged for those after I moved out. There were even dead larvae/alive bugs in the multiple layers of kitchen flooring they had under the stove, I was not the only apartment battling this. Enjoy throwing away food. I would not recommend this place again. If you do move in, take pictures of everything, they do not pay attention to lease agreement.

Very clean (felt new), great finishes, great amenities - my apartment had the best view of the pool, was a spacious loft and really felt like an oasis in a town that is just so-so overall. Amazing place to come home to every night. Additionally, the staff was wonderful. Leasing staff was always easy to deal with. The maintenance team was quick, friendly and respectful. At one point my father needed to stay with me as he was very sick in a down cycle with kidney cancer. I was out of town for work and far from home, but he was freezing in the apartment with the heat turned all the way up. After hours the staff brought him a pair of space heaters to make sure he was comfortable and it was appreciated more than I could ever express. Park Square was a great three years and a highlight of my time in Bakersfield. Im not usually one to review places, but I feel obligated for how well I was treated and how wonderful the apartment experience was. Couldn't recommend it enough and can only imagine 2-3 other places in all of Bakersfield even coming close to matching the experience - and most important the cleanliness. I need a place that feels clean and not 'lived in' and you'll get that here...

Yes, you have neighbors and sometimes have to deal with the noise that comes with sharing walls, same as any other apartment complex, but when it comes to the complex as a whole, the office staff was always helpful, respectful and responded to requests in a timely manner and with a good attitude. The service technician, Harvey, is just awesome. Really good at what he does, and is one of those guys you just want to chat with because he's nice. The only reason we are moving out is because we finally found a house to buy. After 2.5 years of living at Watermark, I can easily say I'd highly recommend. It's clean, it's safe, it's quiet (outside of the things you deal with at any apartment complex that ever existed), and the people are good. Thank you Watermark staff for giving my wife and I a nice place to live until we found our forever home.

SUMMARY: Convenient and fun place to live; absolutely worth the price…read more FULL STORY: I lived in a 2-bedroom unit in the 901 Mohawk community for the past year and was really happy with the experience here. I'm moving away for work, but I would be staying at 901 if I were staying in Bakersfield -- have recommended it to lots of friends. The staff is outstanding, especially the Property Manager (Maria!). They have always been friendly, professional, and extremely helpful. I felt like I was being welcomed home every day, even before I got to my unit. The complex gates close automatically, and the easy on and off Lennox and Mohawk are super convenient. Mail and packages were always taken care of, and I could pick things up easily, even if I got home after midnight. Everything in the unit worked well. I literally only had to put in one maintenance request for the entire unit over the course of the year (air conditioning -- couldn't be fixed that night, but was fixed early the next day). The outdoor space, pool, etc were kept really clean and beautiful. I liked seeing all the grounds kept up, the immaculate streets inside the complex, and the gorgeous greenery throughout. It was a true pleasure to walk through the paths, and jog on the very low traffic, completely self enclosed street that circles the complex. Despite being on a busy intersection in the middle of Bakersfield, the complex is very quiet overall. There was never a time that I could hear neighbors.. many neighbors had children who would occasionally play in and around the pool, which you could only hear by stepping outside the unit. The laughter of children is always refreshing. The gym is really bright and convenient if you need a place to workout, and the free WiFi in the gym/pool area was super nice if you enjoy watching netflix or etc while working out and relaxing. One feature that drew me to the complex was the attached parking garages for every unit... most nearby apartment buildings nearby completely lacked good parking options. The garage had plenty of space, and there are easy outdoor parking spaces for guests that are literally ten or twenty feet away from every unit. And you reallllly can't overstate the convenience of having most of the food options in the immediate area, within easy walking distance and super easy driving distance. There's even a full fledged supermarket just three big blocks down California. Note: The online resident site is useful -- you can easily communicate with the property manager, submit maintenance requests, and etc.

While waiting outside for management to return from lunch, I met a lovely elderly woman who is a resident; that's were my good experience ended. As soon as I walked through the office doors I was greeted by a snarky mouth apartment manager who drilled me regarding rental history and income. Like I mentioned I am a business professional and informed her that my income was more than sufficient along with good rental history prior to being a homeowner. The manager went on to say again "if one of these requirements are not met you'll need to get approval from our corporate office". I've never been drilled so hard just to inquire about a rental. Maybe it was the Raider shirt and hat I was wearing or maybe it was my brown skin. whatever it was I wished the lovely lady i met outside a great day and walked out. Funny thing is the snarky mouth apartment manager looked at me crazy after I told her she was being rude. Good luck to any residents or anyone having to deal with that nasty attitude. if I seen her stranded on the side of the road on a dark highway I wouldn't waste my time to trying to help, people like her would probably think I'm trying to harass her instead of help.
