    Mole Burrito

The owner Mrs. King is the nicest, and the food is impeccable. All ingredients taste so fresh and everything is packed with flavor. The black salsa and chicken mole are amazing, the burrito is always grilled perfectly and packed with ingredients. Villa Mexico is a true gem and the best burrito you can get in Boston.

Excellent burrito for lunch today from Villa Mexico. It's easy enough to order here and while it's not the same assembly line that you might see at a certain other chain burrito place, it's more deliciouser. I had a chicken burrito, spicy, add sour cream and add guacamole. What I unwrapped from the foil was simply tasty and filling and very yummy. It is a very small restaurant, so I took my burrito to go.

Villa Mexico Cafe was such a cute/tiny place. It was really pretty inside and Julie the owner was really sweet! I believe they are known for their burritos but I got their steak tacos. The tacos were not bad. 6/10. I will be back for their burritos and other delicious food. Love to see this place in Downtown Boston.

My office got catering from here for our Holiday Party two years in a row. Consistently excellent. Did a fun and tasty taco bar and quesadillas. Everyone raved. Delivered right on time and our building is a pain to get in. And were very pleasant. Price is about right for the product on the surface. BUT the quality is so high and the quantity was great. So I still feel like it was actually an excellent value.

The positive: They grill their burritos, which adds a nice subtle flavor, texture, and helps keep your lunch warm while you head to wherever you eat (because this is purely takeout). Well, there are a couple of stools in the way of the line. While the portion is reasonable, I was tired of this burrito before I was halfway through it. Dry carnitas, bland rice, and mushy black beans. At $9.50, I really wasn't interested in paying more for sour cream or guacamole, which may have helped. If any of these were seasoned with anything besides salt and pepper, it was not discernible. No fresh cilantro or brightness from the barely noticeable spicy salsa. Quick, friendly service, but too many better lunch options in the area.

This spot is cute, and the cashier is very friendly. It has a family feel. However, the food was not so great. We had the chicken quesadilla and pork tamales. Both were dry and pretty flavorless. It was not worth the calories. Wouldn't recommend.

Tasty but wildly overpriced. Burrito bowl with guac ends up being over $21. Portions not big enough to justify that price.

I had been craving fish tacos for a really long time, and I was delighted to find a whole section of the menu dedicated to them. We started off with margaritas - one of the best companions to fish tacos - and I ordered mine spicy with jalapeño. For food, we shared the lobster empanadas and chorizo and potato taquitos. I ordered the tempura fish tacos for myself. Our margaritas were brought out shortly - mine was refreshing but lacked the kick from the jalapeño that I was hoping for (there was only one thin slice of pepper). Our food was brought out shortly, and I found it a bit overwhelming when our appetizers and tacos came out together. I started with my tacos, and these were excellent. The fish was flaky and fried to perfection, and I loved the rainbow of sauces and toppings. Plus, the tortillas were nice and sturdy and didn't tear. The lobster empanadas were super decadent, and I appreciated the substantial amount of lobster stuffed inside. I was too full to eat much of the taquitos but took a few bites. These also had good flavor but weren't standouts. Next time, I'd just get the tacos and maybe a light app. Towards the end of our visit, the restaurant seemed to clear out, and we had a difficult time trying to locate our server for the bill. Overall, we had a nice meal and satisfied the fish taco craving.

The Seaport space is just as stunning--decked out in pink, super aesthetic, and definitely a fun, photo-worthy vibe. Unfortunately, the experience didn't quite live up to expectations. For drinks, I ordered a pitcher margarita with jalapeño, and it was disappointing. It didn't taste fresh and came across more like artificial jalapeño flavoring rather than real infusion--and it wasn't spicy at all. For food, we ordered a variety of small plates to share. Everything was decent, but nothing really stood out. It felt a bit underwhelming compared to the atmosphere. The biggest issue was the service. It was very slow throughout the night, and getting the check was especially frustrating--it took about 30 minutes, and we had to ask multiple times before finally receiving it. Overall, the ambiance is beautiful and perfect for a celebration, but the drinks and service didn't match the vibe. Hoping this was just an off night.

Now a lot of the places off Newbury are tourist traps, but this one? Definitely a local favourite! Pro tip: always make reservations. This place books up fast! Not pictured is the bone marrow tacos I got, so delicious I forgot to take a photo. Grilled octopus was also very savoury. We threw in a beet carpaccio to have some vegetables to balance the protein. It is a cute spot, but just a heads up that the entrance is a little hard to find- I thought I had walked in through the back door. The restaurant is actually located in the public alley, not directly on Gloucester Street. The food was really good. I am obsessed with their rice and beans. Everyone seemed to love what they ordered! However, Im taking away two stars because of our service and our waitress. When we sat down, she casually asked, "Can I get you started with chips and guac?" At pretty much every Mexican restaurant I have ever been to, that phrasing implies it is complimentary. At no point did she mention that the guac was an added charge. We later found out we were charged $16 per guac, yes because she brought over TWO (!!) which totaled over $30, which felt really misleading. If something is meant to be an appetizer you are paying for, I expect it to be framed as, "Would you like to order any appetizers?" not presented as a default and free starter. That part left a sour taste in my mouth. I would consider coming back for the food, but I would be much more cautious ordering anything they recommend.
