They send you check-in instructions by email and text. Be aware--THERE ARE STAIRS to get up to the rooms. This is pretty common for hostels though. The room I was in--4 bed women only dorm--was clean. The door to get in had a number keypad for security and they also had small lockers for your stuff...bring your own lock though! I liked that the beds each had a little curtain for additional privacy. Bed sheet and towel are included as part of your stay/standard room rate. They had a group chat you can join on WhatsApp. Met some cool people to hangout with. Also, most people I ran into within the common areas were really nice. Additionally, tons of restaurants and bars are in the area. Maybe the only inconvenience is that their kitchen area is closed until 7 or 8 am. If you're planning on waking up early for excursions, that might be something you need to plan around.

It was very clean and well stocked (utensils, dishes, dish soap) and the staff are very pleasant. I stayed during the off season so it was very quiet. They do have quiet hours and a list of reasonable rules. They house have great suggestions posted for food, beaches, bars etc. they are with in walking distance of a lot of different shops and eateries. they also have a rooftop which is where the bar is located. I will definitely be back to visit.

He is probably starving for charging money for every little thing. - I haven't seen any real employee there. Only Erica that's a volunteer- and she was really nice. - bathroom wasn't cleaned while I stayed there and someone and never flushed so I had to get clorox and disinfect the girls bathroom myself. - after 4pm is a self check in process I will be coming back but definitely staying somewhere else that I feel more comfortable and taken care of. $55 a night is double the price I usually pay for shared rooms in a hostel. I do not recommend renting a car if you are staying in old San Juan. It's impossible to find parking and the traffic jam is baaad

Terrible, dirty and unorganized hostel…read more I stayed three nights in this place and have nothing positive to say. On the night of my arrival (11pm), I wandered around the hostel asking "Do you work here?" to everyone that I saw. None of the people I encountered worked at the hostel, nor had any idea of who did. Eventually, while standing by the counter downstairs, I called the hostel's phone. After 10 or so rings, a man wearing a towel and looking hungover stumbled down the stairs. Apparently, this was the manager. He showed me to my mixed-sex dorm which stank of cigarette smoke and mold, while handing me a bundle of sheets and telling me to help myself. None of the power chargers in the room worked... They advertise themselves as being the only hostel in PR with AC and memory foam mattresses....but the AC doesn't work and the mattresses smell like piss and body odor. The showers have an impossibly weak flow. Only half of the water faucets are functional- not including the one in the kitchen or the one in first floor bathroom. The whole place smells like cigarette smoke and is infested by mosquitoes- even in the rooms. Additionally, the hostel is totally unlocked and available for anyone to walk in during the day or night-- which is consequently bad since it is bordered on one side by a slum and on the other side by Ponce de Leon, a neighborhood crawling with policemen and prostitutes. This hostel also offers what it refers to as "free breakfast". This "breakfast" is a combination of old, crusty white bread and jam. There were three flavors of jam available during my stay...and each of them contained a nasty, never washed, fingerprint covered, sticky and dusty butter knife for spreading. Finally the staff is lazy, difficult to find and generally lacking in any knowledge if the area...and honestly just seem to be a bunch of free loading, drunk, pot smoking teenagers.

The beds are a bit creaky, but comfortable. The AC in the bedroom works and keeps the room cool (though the bunk next to the AC unit is freezing). The two bathrooms and kitchens are entirely functional. There's free WiFi (and it's pretty fast even with 18+ of us sharing it!), a cab company across the street, and busy neighborhoods and the beach are all very close by. Some areas that could be improved - the patios can get really dusty, and the hostel has a very open architecture which makes the common spaces get hot and humid during the day. Finally the "free breakfast" in the mornings is nothing to boast about - we've been cooking our own. All in all though; cheap, comfortable, safe, convenient - albeit a little dirty.

We stayed for a last minute trip weekend trip to San Juan. Overall our stay was ok. Tips to make…read morethe stay better. Bring a camp towel so you can use the towel provided to clean up the water on the bathroom floor after you shower. I also brought a small camp towel to dry my hands on after washing my hands. Bring a blanket because it can get cool at night and there really isn't a blanket on the bed just a pretty coverlet. (I travel will a camping blanket so we were fine) The bed is a full not a queen so be prepared to snuggle if there are two of you. (This is in the description be is easily missed) The private room is inside of a a dorm that has multiple (6) bunk beds and you all share one bathroom. There is another bathroom and several showers downstairs in the common area. The private rooms have a pretty glass door so the lights from the dorm could be distracting if the unit was at full capacity or if you need complete darkness to sleep so bring a sleep mask. The windows have storm shutters but no glass so you hear all the street noises (cars, brights, alarms, etc). I brought my air pods and ear plugs to dampen the sound. The room has a kitchen sink, and a refrigerator. The common area has a refrigerator, microwave, swings and seating. We found a nice coffee shop 787 coffee and great food truck at Lote 2 (Pernileria Los Proceres) within walking distance. The bacon and cheese empanada and Bayqan sandwich were delicious. We used Uber to get around and never felt unsafe on or sound the hostel. Everyone we encountered was nice and Carlos was friendly and super helpful. I would change the room description to semi private room and be a bit more transparent about the max number of people you might have to share the bathroom with. (16 if they were fully booked) If you need a cheap safe place to stay and you come prepared you will enjoy your stay. Better yet bring 15 friends and book the entire unit.

The aesthetics of it being somewhat an ancient type of town hostile is cool ( like the concrete walls and flooring, unfinished floors, cinderblock decor and pipes used as ladders). it lacks a lot of amenities that one would expect to have at a hotel, Motel or suite these days. All of the pipes are exposed, which gives a kind of a rustic feel, but there's absolutely no hot water whatsoever so taking a hot or even a type of shower is out of the question we prepared to take it cold.
