I really enjoyed my stay at Nomada! The price was very reasonable and it was super close to the beach. Booking and checking in was really easy. They send you check-in instructions by email and text. Be aware--THERE ARE STAIRS to get up to the rooms. This is pretty common for hostels though. The room I was in--4 bed women only dorm--was clean. The door to get in had a number keypad for security and they also had small lockers for your stuff...bring your own lock though! I liked that the beds each had a little curtain for additional privacy. Bed sheet and towel are included as part of your stay/standard room rate. They had a group chat you can join on WhatsApp. Met some cool people to hangout with. Also, most people I ran into within the common areas were really nice. Additionally, tons of restaurants and bars are in the area. Maybe the only inconvenience is that their kitchen area is closed until 7 or 8 am. If you're planning on waking up early for excursions, that might be something you need to plan around. read more

The hostel is close to the beach and the airport. I was the only one staying in the room during my one-night stay. The room was super warm even only myself in it. The y didn't have hot shower either, nor provide shampoo and conditioner. The bedsheets were not clean. I would say it was a budget stay. read more

While it has some nice attributes, such as the rooftop garden bar and a nice balcony with tables to dine on, the private room resembled more or less a prison cell. Cheery, but don't try to turn around in there. Nothing for anybody suffering from claustrophobia. The matresses so worn on one side that I had to fight to stay in bed and not roll out. It is loud. Apparently no one there to enforce the 'quiet' times. and the rest room doors being slammed all night, so you can hear it throughout the entire floor. And the reason for the one-star review: NO WARM/HOT WATER. We stayed 5 days. Complained, were assured it'd be fixed... but NO, ice cold throughout our stay. Five days of cold showers... read more

I stayed here for three nights prior to connecting with friends in Old San Juan. Nomada Urban Beach Hostel is tastefully decorated, clean, centrally located, and staffed well. In essence, it's a great value. Despite my general inability to read, the front desk staff were patient, and helped me with researching tours, showing me around, directing me to the supermarket, and helping me with my laundry. I tend to leave the U.S. mainland several times a year (in 2019, I traveled to Ecuador, Mexico, Canada, Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia, and Austria; this trip is taking me to a number of the West Indies, and I'll be in Greece and the Galapagos in early 2020), and I always stay in hostels. They're a great way to meet new people, and they're much more accessible than hotels. Nomada Urban Beach Hostel is truly a gem. I found the property by accident, but I'll be back next week when I pass back through Puerto Rico, and I'll be back here whenever I pass through Puerto Rico. I wish I could give more stars, as there were some really good posited to our stay. The hostel was simple, but cute and clean. It's in a convenient part of town. Street parking was easy for us. But, we were in a private room and unfortunately had some VERY loud people staying on our floor. We had notified staff of the issue earlier in the day, but they didn't think it was going to be a continued issue. The hostel requests quiet hours after 10pm, but we were woken up at 4:30 by the other guests shouting down the hallways. If you plan on staying here, know that even the private rooms can be very noisy. Nomada- I realize this is difficult to control, but consider signage reminding of quiet hours and offering ear plugs. read more

It was super fun! I stayed in January 2019 as part of an Alternative Winter Break trip with my University. There are communal showers but they're pretty clean; just bring shower shoes! The kitchen is also communal and a great place to meet new people from different places. There's a relaxing hammock near the windows in the common room where you can unwind and relax from stresses of the day. Overall great experience! read more

This is a great place to stay in San Juan if you are in the area for outdoor adventure and are looking to be social and meet new people. It's an open air hostel with various room accommodations for large groups and solo travelers, each dorm room has personal lockers and temperature control. The employees are friendly and speak English and Spanish. The kitchen is shared and fully equipped with utensils, cookware, and appliances. You label your personal items with your name and departure date and everything that is not labeled is community property. I've stayed here several times and never had a problem with anyone touching any of my labeled things. I love that the kitchen has an open air bar and door to the patio, which has tables, chairs barstools, and a sitting hammock. The rooftop is equipped with plenty of seating, a lay down hammock, an outdoor bar, bathroom, shower, and private tents for rooftop camping, as well as a beautiful view of Ocean Park and San Juan. It's just blocks from Ocean Park Beach and an outdoor track, soccer field, and outdoor basketball courts. There are also plenty of great restaurants within walking distance and you are two minutes from the highway. The bathrooms can be challenging if you are looking for more privacy, the showers and toilets are in separate stalls with doors but there is no changing space. The common spaces are fun and cute, equipped with games, books, and art. The entrance is gated with a key pad code, and there is an outdoor shower for rinsing off if you are coming straight from the beach. They are renovating the first floor so I'm excited to see what new space will be available in the future. I love staying here and highly recommend it! read more

I am so grateful I found this new hostel after deciding to leave another hostel that was similarly-priced and decent-enough, but at which all the workers and some of the guests had all come down with the flu :( Here's what I love about Nomada: - The women-only dorm room! - Chic industrial design. Think "boutigue hostel" - The neighborhood! So many unique and cool restaurants, bars, clubs, cafes, vintage shops, bakeries within a short walk from this hostel on Calle Loiza. If you are like me and Condado seems a bit to touristy then you will love this Santurce neighborhood. - Beach! Just a few blocks away. - Easy street parking. - Super-chill and friendly staff! Responsive and professional, but after a few days, I felt like they were my actual friends! They even made special arrangements for me to watch the State of the Union and the Superbowl on the big TV in the common area with some people I invited over! - Clean! And the design of the communal bathroom - 4 toilets and 4 shower stalls each with floor-to-ceiling walls and doors - ensures you can always have both access and privacy. - 4th Floor Roof deck - beautiful design and furniture and a lovely . A barbecue and built-in bar under an awning that is great for hanging out, eating or catching up on work. - There are also large, high-quality tents with Queen-sized air mattresses on the roof that guests can rent instead of the private or dorm rooms. I didn't stay in them, but I talked to other quests who did and they were totally protective against a high-wind rainstorm. - I am typing this review on one of the desktop computers available for guests's use...but there is also wifi and bluetooth capable speakers throughout the hostel! read more

This place is absolutely amazing. Staff are great. People are very laid back and you are able to come and go as you please. We stayed in a 4 bed female room. Sheets and a towel are provided by the hostel. Lots of restaurants and bars within walking distance or a short Uber ride. Neighborhood can look slightly worrisome but everyone was friendly. We had no issues walking down Calle loiza, to ocean park or to the grocery store. The rooftop deck is beautiful...the whole place is modern and minimalistic! read more

Nomada offers a wonderful warm experience with everything you could want to enjoy San Juan and the surrounding area. The accommodations are fresh and very comfortable, with a modern creative aesthetic. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Nomada to everybody - they have cultivated the perfect atmosphere and vibe with too many perks to even count. (Since I'm writing this on the plane, I'll just go ahead and ramble on for those who want to know the full extent of how much I have grown to love Nomada and crew!) # 1. I can't even begin to thank the kind, patient and friendly hosts for making my stay there so lovely. After staying at Nomada for several nights and then experiencing two other hostels in San Juan (because I didn't book ahead, they were full over the weekend), I returned for my last night to finish off my trip in a cozy and homey feeling spot with familiar faces. Candido and Neri also put up with me just stopping by at random one morning after I had a very frightening experience at another hostel. They made me feel safe and welcome and their kindness is basically what kept me from going home early! They earned unlimited gold stars of hospitality and compassion, and restored my spirit of adventure. Having worked in the lodging/hospitality industry for several years in different locations, I know it takes a lot of love to continually give your best friendly self to your guests. I normally would just be happy to get my room key and go about my business, but they somehow made Nomada feel like coming home and being with old friends/long lost cousins. I just hope I wasn't too annoying! In addition to uncommonly kind and darling people, things I loved about Nomada include: -ROOFTOP!! With lots of different seating locations for lounging, dining, bbqing, enjoying the view of the ocean and the cityscape, this rooftop is so dreamy!! I love that this space is open all the time for late-night stargazing, making a phone call without disturbing your bunk-mates, and partaking in a sanctioned smokey without standing out on the street corner and being mistaken for a haggard lady of the evening (in my case, lol!). This rooftop prompted me to want to wake up early enough to watch the sunrise which is odd! And was a great spot to visit with other guests and just chiill tfo and decompress. Next time I would like to reserve one of the rooftop tents! - COZINESS! They actually have fluffy pillows here! The beds are really comfortable ( I slept in three diffferent rooms and can stay they were all great.) Fresh new bedding and super clean. Remote controlled AC in rooms was an unexpected luxury. The towels are fluffy too! I almost felt like it was *too* fancy for me at first but it didn't take long to get used to that! - Bathrooms! Like another reviewer mentioned, the bathrooms are set up for both privacy and accessibility - the floor to ceiling showers and bathroom stalls were always clean too. (not the case in many hostels I've stayed in!) I like the industrial concrete look too. -Guest Kitchen -Nomada supplies everything you need to cook your own meals, store groceries, and dine al fresco right off the kitchen - there's an open garage-door style window counter so you can hang out and chat with whoever's cooking too (that's how I learned all about cryptocurrency! :D) Seems like the whole vibe there cultivates people taking personal responsibility to clean up after themselves and respect the shared space. -LOCATION! After staying elsewhere, I have to say that Ocean Park is the neighborhood I most prefer in town- it has a lot of residential, little mom and pop restaurants and shops, a church and a school across the street. It has a very cool mix of colorful rustic/historical architecture and real people living their daily lives, who didn't seem to mind my clueless wandering and my incoherent attempts to speak Spanish. I loved going to get fruits and veggies at the little stand around the corner, and could walk to get pretty much anything I needed! Plus the proximity to the BEACH!! read more

So first of all this place is the best. A perfect fusion of business professional with chill hangout vibe. It is set up perfectly for traveling working professionals. I videoconference all day long and had no problem both doing my job and finding amazing people to have fun with after. The WiFi is very quick and the rooms are clean. They have quiet places to work in the lobby as well as common areas to gather on the roof. Now secondly, AS IF all that wasn't good enough already, Jerry, the owner, and Neri, the manager, went above and beyond by driving me 2.5 hours to the other side of the island when I couldn't find a ride. They are the kind of people that go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and are not only some of the most kind-hearted but also fun and hilarious people I've met. I am so thankful I chose Nomada during my time in Puerto Rico- would highly recommend to anyone coming here. This was our first time staying at a Hostel, but given the great reviews and affordable price when looking for a place to stay, I can honestly say it exceeded our expectations. It was very clean, quiet, and bathrooms/showers were always available. There is also a small kitchen where you can cook/store your own food and everyone respects each others' belongings. We arrived an hour before check-in, but since the room was already vacant and cleaned, Naritza had no problem with us checking in earlier. As far as checking out, our flight was in the late afternoon, but thanks to Naritza again, we were able to leave our bags in a private room while we went out to explore the city once more. The location was also very convenient! Right on Calle Loiza with many good restaurants and bars. The average Uber price was about $4-$7 to popular places- Old San Juan, Santurce, Condado, etc. If you're into the nightlife scene, La Placita de Santurce is the place to go. Lots of bars, great music, awesome food, and cheap drinks. We definitely plan to stay here again, but for a longer time next time! read more
