Worst Hotel Experience - Misleading Photos & Unprofessional Management We recently stayed at TRYP by Wyndham in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and it was without a doubt the worst hotel experience we've ever had. We had booked this stay to celebrate a special occasion--our anniversary--and were extremely disappointed from the moment we arrived. To be clear, this review is not a reflection of the front desk reception staff, who were courteous and doing their job. However, the property itself was nothing like the photos advertised on Expedia. The exterior of the hotel was run down and immediately gave off an unwelcoming, neglected impression. Despite our initial concerns, we tried to keep an open mind and proceeded to park our rental car and check in. The experience quickly went downhill from there. As soon as we stepped into the elevator, it was clear that cleanliness was not a priority. The floors were dirty, the walls had visible smudges, and it was obvious the area had not been properly cleaned or maintained. We hoped things would improve once we got to our room--but it only got worse. The hallway leading to our room had a strong, unpleasant odor--like mildew or damp laundry left out for too long. When we entered our room, we were absolutely appalled. The shower was filthy, with so much buildup on the glass door that you could barely see through it. The tiles were broken, the caulking was cracked and discolored, and there was an accumulation of grime in the corners that made it clear the bathroom hadn't been properly cleaned in years. We were in the room for less than two minutes before deciding we could not stay there. We immediately returned to the front desk to ask for a refund, completely disgusted by the conditions. That's when things took an even worse turn. We were told a manager named Juan would assist us. Unfortunately, Juan was completely unhelpful and unprofessional. He brought us to see an "upgraded" room with an ocean view, which was just as bad--scratched-up mini fridge, dirty nightstand with old drink residue, and no real improvement in cleanliness or quality. When we told him we still weren't comfortable and offered to pay for one night if they released the rest of the reservation, Juan became difficult and dismissive. He refused to let us speak to a manager named Griselda, despite multiple requests. He insisted he was the only one in charge and claimed the reservation couldn't be refunded because of Expedia's policies--even though Expedia told us it was refundable. We were only able to resolve the issue after offering Juan $100 in cash--at which point he finally agreed to release the reservation and process the refund. Ironically, we witnessed him smoking cigarettes while on duty, which tells you everything you need to know about the level of professionalism at this property. We left and walked one minute down the street to Royal Sonesta, which was a true 5-star experience and exactly the kind of place that matched our expectations for a special celebration. TRYP by Wyndham San Juan is a complete misrepresentation of what is advertised online. It is dirty, outdated, and poorly managed. Juan, in particular, has no business working in hospitality--his behavior was sketchy at best, and I will be disputing the charge with my bank, as I have video proof of him confirming the refund. Avoid this place at all costs. Spend your money somewhere you'll be treated with respect and provided with a clean, safe place to stay. read more

Photos are definitely misleading. The rooms were tiny and the AC unit was so loud we had to just suffer in our small box of a room. See attached video of the outrageous sound the AC unit was making. Thank god we only stayed 1 night before hopping on a cruise ship. read more

Not many people write about three star hotels. First of all, they aren't exciting, not at all as a matter of fact. Secondly, they are generally not bad enough to write an intriguing story about finding a dead rodent in the bed. Thus, they fall into the general category of: it's there, there is nothing to say about it. As the first time visiting this particular brand segment of Wyndham, it was a rather pleasant surprise. While the roof above the car pull-up area may have been leaking, there was a gentleman opening the door. The lobby interior is solid, in some elements beautiful for its star level. Front desk was to the point, without too much friendliness or rudeness. The room was decently sized and while no upgrade was provided despite status, it had extremely comfortable feather pillows. All elements of the room were clean and WiFi worked flawlessly. The room is quite nice design wise for a property of this caliber also. As a whole, this Tryp by Wyndham property is best compared to an Aloft or a Hyatt Place. It gives a good night's rest and is a solid representation of what a 3 star hotel should be. read more

Location is one of my favorites. Love Isla Verde and this is right across the street from the beach. You will have to rent a chair and umbrella once you get there as the hotel does not provide them. Can take a short cab ride to downtown San Juan easily from here. Rooms: small boutique rooms with no balcony. Water pressure decent and they are clean. Difficult to share as they are very small. Amenities: pool in the back of hotel Does have restaurants and bar on site. Would not do the breakfast here....it was terrible. Can walk down the street for better options. Probably would book other hotels in the area next time....as you can get better bang for your buck at other hotels and more amenities. But if the price is right not a bad choice. read more

I am so glad I only had to bear this hotel for one night. The photos are very misleading and leads one to believe the rooms are much larger than they actually are. We had a very noisy air conditioner that kept us awake longer than we would have liked as well as a white light that blinked every 10-20 seconds all night long. Got barely any sleep. It's a shame as it's well located in a popular area, Isla Verde. I am disappointed in myself for booking this room and will never stay in another Tryp anywhere they have it. We woke up to get to our cruise and couldn't get out fast enough. If I were able to get my money back because of it's problems, I would have gone elsewhere. We wanted simply a good nights sleep before our cruise started and instead were kept awake by the annoyances I already mentioned and these truly were not minor annoyances. Went on the ship the next day exhausted and will never do Tryp again as a result. read more

I stayed here for a few days with my friends during our trip to PR. Some pros about this hotel is the distance to the beach and to the airport. Carolina also has some great restaurants and coffee shops in the area that we were able to have close access to. They also have breakfast in the morning which is a plus! The cons are the service at the hotel was poor and so was the communication amongst staff. 2 weeks before our trip, we noticed the front desk of our arrivals time (2am) to confirm either or not we would need to pay for an extra day. They initially told us know but when I called the hotel the day before our arrival to confirm the arrangement, they told us that the staff member informed us incorrectly and we would need to make an additional payment. When we arrived there was trouble with making payment for the room because their machine has issues reading certain cards, which should have been noted before we arrived to avoid us waiting 20 mins figuring out the payment after 12 hours of traveling (we also arrived at 4am, were exhausted!). Lastly the cleaning service and requesting extra towels was a hassle. We're on vacation so we're doing something every single day, meaning we'll need fresh sets of towels regularly and the staff made it seem like it was a hassle to give us new towels. read more

This place was a short walk to the beach. The rooms are cute. The restaurants inside the hotel were awesome. One was even open until 10pm. The staff were very friendly. You would never believe it is as beautiful as it is from the outside. The pool is also nice and secluded. Totally would stay here again. read more

Don stay at this hotel! I am writing to formally express our deep dissatisfaction following our recent group stay at your hotel Tryb by Wyndham Island Verde, San Juan, PR. Unfortunately, number of issues significantly affected the quality of our stay. I had a very disappointing experience with the front desk customer service. Upon arrival, we were waiting almost 3 hours. The hotel check-in supposed to be at 3:00 PM and we received keys between 5:30-6:00pm. That's being said, we had to cancel our planned activities for the first day of our stay which was incredibly disappointing for our group who had had scheduled events in advance. Prior to our arrival, I booked the total of 8 rooms. There were only 7 rooms available. My last 2 guests had to wait additional an hour for the 8th room to be ready. Additional issues during our stay included: * Unpleasant and unhelpful staff, who showed little interest in resolving any of our concerns. * Drink vouchers offered as an apology, which were not honored in the restaurant. I don't understand why they were given to us if they couldn't had been redeemed. On the voucher it was clearly written two complimentary drinks with no exclusion apply. Bartender informed each of us that they don't honor those vouchers. * A broken safe deposit reported on the second day and never been repaired. * Denied to extend check-out for a couple hours despite of the challenges we were facing during the check-in. Only 4 guests wanted to extend this time on the final day. Due to the weather conditions, some members of our group left the hotel a day early (airlines rescheduled flights) and four of us stayed as planned. We requested a late check-out, hoping for a small courtesy after the challenges we experienced but this was denied without consideration, further adding to our disappointment. * Room cleanliness was very poor -- no proper vacuuming, and bathrooms were not well maintained. * Broken toilets in some rooms that were never fixed during our stay. * Extremely poor breakfast quality -- dry, powdered eggs, and hot water from the cattle wasn't fresh and not suitable to make a tea. This stay did not meet the standards we had expected, especially for a group of 15 guests. I'm from NY, my hubby and I travel alot. I am not a hotel snob but this hotel served it's purpose. Staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean but it does have that "wet smell". The hotel is old but the lobby is cute. They have a bar inside and pizza shop. They have onsite parking for $20 a day. We could see the ocean out the corner of the window. The pool here is shallow 3-4 feet so more so caters to children. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I paid $811 from 3/7-10 at the desk I paid an additional $100 for service fees and $60 for parking. The location is convenient lots of bars and eats on this strip. OK, lemme get these outta the way FOR THE JET MAGAZINE STYLE READERs(like to read but not too much): Lobby = nioice (in Tiffany haddish voice saying nice) Rooms/decor = sexy (and fun ready) Staff = amazing (their background check must pass thru modeling agencies, a university doctoral review committee and Chick-fil-A's service standards team) CHECK-IN (singing, hey how ya doooin) Hello short hair. The front desk manager was stunning. So much so I lost focus for a minute. Then after swooning subsides and music volume returns to normal I realize how professional everyone was. I never had a Chick-fil-A experience in a hotel. My room wasn't ready (arrived at 11:30am) but they pointed me to a space where I could chill and set up my laptop for a few. I didn't notice the 1.5 hr pass because THIS EFFEN LOBBY WAS Nice! Say it with me, SEXY!!! This was not the Wyndham I knew, my assistant gets made points for this reservation. LAY ME DOWN TO SLEEP Ok, my room was decorated in calming gray tones with pops of orange & purple and was done right! I also had a private balcony(con: mine had no furniture-thanks covid). I had more than enough WORKING USB plugs for devices(counted 6) flanking both sides of the headboard(which was also very sturdy---no I didn't get to test it;)) but if you have a boo or Bae, you will be OK #BARS!. There were also a few, "cushy" round ottomans and chairs for my creative peeps or additional seating whatever floats your boat. They had the stuff I normally put in the closet(Coffeemakers stocked with local Yaucono coffee), ice bucket, etc... I also had a mini-fridge(should've been wrapped in orange). The bathroom was nice and had a Throne that is Dude friendly (where ya junk doesn't hit the water=major points). Their stock of shampoo and body lotion was white citrus-scented(amazing) and was placed on floating wood shelve with a real bamboo plant on it. Yeah, you read that right, real plants in a hotel room (extends right arm straight out and drops room key...come on think mic drop ppl). VENTURE OUT Hotel is a 3-6minute walk from beautiful Isla Verde Beach, tons of bars, clubs and restaurants nearby. The pool: a rectangular pool surrounded by loungers and patio tables and the infamous grass wall, for impromptu photoshoots. Cons: No direct beach access All in, the rooms are eye-catching, lobby has a dope modern design, outdoor pool is bright and appealing and entire staff is well above par. Lol , okay location wise ... this hotel is okay because it's right across from the beach. But the rooms are super small!! The lighting is HORRIBLE I'm talking you can barely see in the room at night. The window shades are filthy. The only full body mirror is in the room and it's near no lighting. The pool is nice. They do give you towels. I would never stay here again. The lobby would make you think uu staying somewhere so nice but in reality you aren't. The room is a box , the barely come clean the room and the lighting is horrendous. read more

First timer. This hotel is top notch! Granted the rooms are a tad small but very comfortable (look at my pics). Also is very centric and at walking distance from restaurants, gas station, supermarket, and the beach is across the street. I'll be back in April so I will come here again. We stayed three nights. The first morning we woke up and lost all the power in the room. They were not able to repair it until the engineer came in at 9:00 AM. We were trying to get ready at 5:30 AM. This place is basically capitalizing off the marketing of the "Wyndham" name - making you believe you are staying at a hotel that is boutique or has some luxury. In reality, it is like a basic Best Western that underwent a cheap facelift. The lobby area is small but well laid out with dividing walls creating spaces. Unless you get a room in the lobby it is the only good thing about the hotel. It photographs pretty well but that's about it. The rooms are small, depressing and worn despite being "recently renovated" because the building architecture is old and not conducive to nice looking rooms. (I could easily touch the very low ceiling with my hand). My room had one small jail cell sized window designed not to open to allow any fresh air. Bed was small but okay for one person and the room was 'somewhat' clean - it could use a deep cleaning as there was mold in the shower. That makes me wonder what else needs cleaning. The restaurant bar was fine but not memorable. Service was friendly which helps make up for everything else. I requested a later checkout and was denied so I always find that so hospitable when a hotel can't accommodate one hour after I checked in late - with jet lag the 11AM checkout is rough. But then again, I am able to get out of the miserable room sooner so maybe that is a plus. So if you need to be near the airport for ONE night, maybe it's okay if you are paying under $200/ night. Anything more and you will feel ripped off - considering what you can get in say NYC for $250/ night (and this hotel is not even right on the beach). I would give this place zero stars if I could. Attempted to stay at this "hotel" in february during our kids winter break. I am just getting around to this review now because I have been attempting to get a refund from the disgusting and unsafe hotel. They lied about adjoining rooms for my daughter, which they did not guarantee, and the lying front desk person said they would refund our money when we left without staying, which they did not). The room was bug infested, smelled moldy, and the location was in an unsafe area in San Juan, especially in the evening. They should at least try to clear out the people loitering around the hotel front area. Do not go here if you have kids of any ages. You are a horrid hotel and should be ashamed of yourselves! read more

My experience here was OK. Not great. The only complaint I have about the room was the fitted sheet, most uncomfortable sheet as it was all pilled, and not smooth. Stay away from breakfast. I didn't get the buffet, but my friend did and it was awful. I ordered the avocado toast, and there was nothing on that toast that matches the description on the menu. Including avocado. Saddest excuse for avocado I have ever seen. Do yourself a favor and go next door, out the front door and to the right, that was lovely. read more

The TRYP by Wyndham Isla Verde is a decent bouquet hotel next to the airport and public beaches in San Juan PR. It's a little outdated and the rooms are small but decorated simply. Unfortunately there is only one elevator and it does take time to wait for one. The walls are paper thin so you'll hear conversations in the hallway. The beds are comfortable and rooms are clean. The staff is friendly and it's located near restaurants and shops. The towels are thinner than I like. The water pressure is good and the shower is hot. By far the worst accommodations I've seen for this price. After tax, a standard room exceeded $400. Pool area only accommodates about 15 people. Toiletries, water, and tea and coffee supplies are given in very limited quantities. Most importantly, this hotel hosts events on the top floor until late in the evening. there is no indication of this on their website, notification of guests or noise proofing. They will not be able to move your room or provide any accommodation if this is disruptive to you. This is NOT worth the money and is overall bad experience if you want to get any sleep. read more

Stayed here on last day in PR back in Sept. We wanted to explore other parts of PR besides OSJ and heard the beaches here were pristine. It's also about 10 minutes from the airport so location was convenient as well. The pictures online looked exactly as we walked in the hotel. Big modern and clean lobby, nicely decorated lounge with internet stations, beautiful pool area, pizza restaurant and high rated gastropub by the lobby . The beach access was just across the street. Upon arrival, the nice receptionist offered an upgrade. I originally booked a double room but she mentioned that the upgraded room was big enough for a family of four. Of course I took the free offer even though it was just me and a friend. She gave us room 402. Room was definitely huge. Comfy king bed, 2 bunk beds (great for kids), living area with modern swiveling chairs, writing desk and large bathroom. The room also had essential business traveler necessities including, lcd with direct tv, strong wifi, microwave, fridge, coffee maker, toiletries, blow dryer, iron and board plus USB outlets on the headboard and writing desk. I took a lot pictures of the room so check them out. The only issue with this room was the noise coming from the building's A/C condensers outside. They were 3 floors down below outside but could still hear the loud fans seeping thru the tightly shut windows. The hotel agent was nice enough to show us another room but it was much smaller and quite too. We just decided to stay because we were not planning to stay indoors anyway. We had no problems sleeping thru the night. Maybe some fans were off because less people were using A/C at night? I suggest to get a higher floor room or avoid that side of the hotel where the condensers are located. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here. Professional staff, nice modern facilities, technology friendly and great location. Highly recommended for the business traveler. I got a great deal too from Hotels.com. Only paid 100 bucks for this family room upgrade :) read more

False advertisement regarding the room I paid for (I DID NOT RECEIVE ALL AMMENITIES EVEN THOUGH I ASKED ABOUT THE MISSING ITEMS FOR 3 CONSECUTIVE DAYS). So many unpleasant things to say about this knock-off Wyndham hotel: We were able to check-in before 3pm however the little girl at the check-in counter took forever to acknowledge we were standing in an empty line!! Maintenance never addressed the issues we had with the television in the room. The price for this room Was very SMALL. Glad we booked weeks in advance .. or we most likely would have paid more for such little space! The beautiful lobby as seen on the website DOES NOT Exist. And I Never received the 30,000 reward points due to me since they were unable to accommodate the ammenities that I never received. Nice hotel right across from the beach. Rooms are very nice and hip. Walls are thin and the house cleaners talk loudly from room to room. If you on the side with the high way it can get loud in the room as well. On the other side of the hotel you can get a view of the beach, but there is a building in the way but you have a beach view still. TVs in the room need to be updated and provide better channels. Better yet provide the services some hotel are with Netflix, Hulu, Crackle and other apps services. Or Chromecast so we can watch what we want on rainy nights and days. The pool is awesome. The hotel has a bar inside and a separate restaurant that's like a pizzeria. But you have Pizza City a block away that is open 24/7. Would rather give it a 3.5 read more

This place is full of bed bugs stood here for three nights and it was a nightmare for my girl we were happy with the rooms but she was getting bite makes like bed bugs she didn't say anything to me until I seen one of the marks and said that's not a mosquito bite that's a bed bug bite we already left the hotel when she showed them to me and I called the hotel and told them they acted like oh are you still in the hotel I told them no they said well I can't do anything about it now. I will never go there again it was a four star bed bug problem not a four star over priced hotel. I'm very disappointed that such a nice look with no microwave and no fright to put any cold items on days that almost hit 95 . Great, quiet hotel. I would definitely return on my next visit. Our room was great, had everything we needed. The only feature I slightly disliked was the view of our second floor room that over looked the lobby, but wasn't that bad as we only slept and changed in our rooms during our stay. We lost our room key and was given a replacement with no problem. Parking fees were added to our bill and is conveniently located directly on the side of the hotel. The pool is relaxing with good music and the Hotel is directly across the street from Isla Verde Beach. It's also Close to pharmacies, gift shops and many eateries. read more

Newly built or renovated, TRYP (pronounced trip) is a beautiful hotel and very reasonably priced. Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. Most of them are bilingual. The rooms are spacious, modernly decorated w/ splashes of color. The hotel comes equipped with a pool, a bar/restaurant, and pizza place. It's located about 7 minutes away from the airport and about 11 minutes from San Juan. On the strip directly where the hotels sits, there is no shortage of restaurants and other businesses. Across the street is Caroline Beach. Taxi services are located just outside the hotel to transport you where you need to go throughout the island. I recommend utilizing Uber because it's cheaper. They don't get 5 stars because they charged both my friend and I the $50 incidentals charge. We also reserved the room using the pay later method. We were there for 3 nights and would be charged when we checked out. They charged us on day 2 without even giving us notice. Unprofessional. Our overall experience was great. read more

If you have been to PR, you will notice that no matter on Google, TripAdvisor or Yelp, there are lots of fake reviews. Unfortunately this hotel is one of those high fake review hotels. The service of this hotel is horrible. When I was at the hotel, the guest next door was playing super loud music all night. The music was so loud that even though I put my 30 dB NRR ear plugs on, it was still loud. I called the front desk for over half an hour, nobody answered the phone. It was already 10 pm. I thought nobody was there. So I came downstairs. I was surprised to found out that there was a lady at the front desk. She just ignored the calls. I told her about my situation and she just simply said there was nothing she could do. There were plenty of things they could do. They could call security to ask them turn down the volume. Or simply change the room for me. But she acted as if it's none of their business. read more

I visited Puerto Rico a couple of times for business and this hotel is the best I've seen so far in this price range. Rooms are nice, with a modern look. Everything is clean. The AC works perfectly and (most important) silently! I would have liked to have a mini-fridge in the room (it seems that you can request to have one when you book the room though). I will definitely stay again at this hotel the next time I come back to San Juan. read more

This rating was very hard for me to decide. The hotel has a great lobby and it seems to be a very clean place but having to sleep with a pillow over my head as the traffic noise was so loud did not equate to a relaxing vacation for me. I thought about switching rooms but there is also a street on the other side of the hotel so that wouldn't have helped. There is a nice pizza place downstairs that was very convenient and also a restaurant that serves breakfast although I don't recommend going there if you don't speak Spanish as you will get served last. All in all, I recommend staying somewhere else. Splurge for one of the hotels directly on the beach. You won't regret it. read more

I think folks complain about very petty stuff. This hotel was great. About 5 mins from the airport, taxi costs $15 (DO NOT TAKE THE PREPAID SHUTTLE FOR $35). Then again they also charge you for number of bags in the taxi Lol The hotel is clean, the rooms a bit smaller than the panoramic pics on the website but that's expected. Endless amount of toiletries upon request, daily room cleaning. Everything is replenished daily including water and coffee. Ask for a mini fridge which will be provided. We were upgraded to a bigger room because our original room was not ready. The Bed!! Wow is super soft and comfy. Uhmmm try not to get a room by the elevator, this hotel has thin walls lol. Don't skip the Italian restaurant located downstairs, the pizza is very delicious, one of the best I've had. You can tell by the cheese that they use quality ingredients. There is a second more upscale restaurant, but we didn't get to try it. Parking is only $8 a day which is cheap compared to surrounding lots. The beach is a 5 mins walk, and this section of Isla Verde is packed with reataurants, casino, à grocery store, easy access to the main highway, car rental locations, and a few pharmacies and gift shops. The bus stop to Old San Juan is about blocks away and the return stop is right in front of the hotel. We wanted a wine opener and was given a keepsake one from the bistro in the lobby. Speaking of lobby, it is really edgy and sexy. The pool is just a pool,nothing fancy, with no night restriction so have a swim at night if you wish. Wifi is solid. We stayed for a week and had access all through and we were really high up. Don't judge it by a few sour reviews. Though the elevator is a tad bit slow, what's the rush when on vacation? read more

I loved this hotel!!!! The service, the decor, the proximity to the beach / isla verde strip made this hotel so perfect for me. The decor was so glamorous and modern and equally comfortable. I wish my living room looked like the lobby lol. Also, every uber was under $10 (the ride to the airport was $5) and whenever I asked the front desk rep for something it was at my room 5 minutes later. The pool was a good temperature and it was a great place to rinse off at once you come back from the beach because they have an outdoor shower/ rinse off area. I have zero complaints about this hotel and I hope I can stay here again if ever I'm back in San Juan, PR. My only tips for any guest is to look for the second elevator, it's a little hidden but it may save you time. It's to the right of the main elevator. read more

My friend picked this hotel for us due to the convenient location, it turned out to be a really good one, though finding the parking lot took us a little bit of extra time... Arrived at midnight, we were starving hence rushed directly to the hotel restaurant Emigrante Gastrobar. We shared the flatbread and two pitchers of sangria and for myself, I ordered the seafood broth with mussels and shrimps. So tasty! I only wish my portion was larger! This newly remodeled Howard Johnson Hotel is a brand new concept hotel for Wyndham. This physical property has a lot going for it. Architecture and modern, clean design. Bold colors - solids that complement each other. Cool lighting fixtures. On the first floor there's the usual reservation desk and waiting area. But, on the opposite side, there's a big game/chill-out room. A big table resides in the center. Connect Four, Uno, cards, lots of options for spending time with family/friends. The bar area is splendid! Open and airy. Several seating options. Oh, and the lobby/waiting area has two desks with high-speed internet on both. And the Latino Concierge gentleman was friendly and pleasant. He's the one to thank for giving us the fantastic breakfast recommendation down the road. The room had two double beds, a study desk, wall-mounted tv, night stand, and of course the bathroom. Spacious tiled stand-up shower. No counter space around the above-counter porcelain bowl sink, though. The one negative (thus holding back a higher rating) was my mattress. Explain? It was way too soft - I couldn't even see any base/boxspring platform underneath. Needless to say, a stark wakeup call in the morning from my body. I would never recommend this room for an extended stay, due to the small, tight spaces. But it did its job for our one-night stay before heading to the cruise ship the next day. read more

Wyndham Tryp, Isla Verde, Puerto Rico Stayed at the Tryp from April 23-May 1st, 2016. The hotel is conveniently located in Isla Verde (about 5-7 minutes from the airport) near restaurants, shopping and across the street from the beach. The staff was great, attentive and very professional. The room was small but it had two full size beds, an ok size bathroom. However, the walls/door/window were paper thin. We could hear EVERYTHING as if it was happening in our room. (The room was on the 4th floor). Traffic is also clearly heard in the room as the room faced the main avenue. The hotel has a small pool with chairs around; the gym is in the basement and it doesn't have shower facilities; parking is only $8.00 per day; and the beach is easily accessed by crossing the avenue. The hotel features 2 restaurants and the pizza place offers daily happy hour with a cool pizzeria vibe. Would I go back?? Probably so but would ask for a higher floor room. read more

Very clean hotel! At check in however wasn't asked about the room preference of my companion and I, ended up with double beds; not very pleasant. The room was very comfortable and clean, there was this blinking light which I assumed to be a smoke detector, a bit annoying as I've never seen that before. Also during check out the person in charge just kind of busts into your room, one knock, 2 seconds later he's inside I would of appreciated a little courtesy of letting me respond to the knock. Left a little sour taste as I was closing out my experience with this hotel. Would recommend however if you're enjoying a nice quick stay, beautiful beach is nearby so make sure to enjoy that! read more

Stayed here day before and after our Caribbean cruise. Welcoming front desk,the hotel Is beautiful. Rooms were comfy and cozy. The gym was new and had great equipment. Used the laundry in the basement and the front desk was able to provide laundry soap and dryer sheets free of cost. Another great perk was the beach was right across the street and it was beautiful!!! The pizza restaurant had great food! Room service was strange as they didn't provide plates. Just boxed it up with plastic silverware. Overall highly recommend!!!!! read more

The staff at Tryp by Wyndham was incredible during our stay on NEW YEARS 2017. They really know customer service and how to treat customers with respect. Also, front desk was incredibly accommodating! They assisted me in booking a tour to El Yunque; making the experience painless! The airport was a very short taxi ride away! As soon as you walk in, you are met with calming music and art-inspired furniture. They currently have a special as you're checking in; to also "check-in" on FB for a free Sangria! A few things to mention that knocked a star off. -There was not enough pool furniture for the amount of people in the pool (which wasn't very many). -There was no poolside bar; which was an inconvenience! -Breakfast was expensive but had variety -If the AC was turned off in our room, the room would smell a little weird; so we had to keep it on the entire stay to circulate the air -Fridge & Microwave were by request only; and not already in the room per usual Aside from those aforementioned small issues, the hotel staff was amazing. I truly love the folks they have working this location. They left correspondences for New Years that were lovely to read; showing that they truly care to cater to their guests. Additionally, housekeeping were always on point! We always came back to a clean room and a made bed! Shoutout to the staff at Tryp by Wyndham Puerto Rico for a nice job well done! P.S. Not much to do in the area except the beach across the street, few local spots all in walking distance, and a Walgreens two blocks away. However, everything else is a short uber ride away and very convenient. "Great and beautiful hotel, GREAT LOCATION, beach right there, renovated!!!!!" June 2016 Washington, DC I have to say nothing but great things about this place. I was visiting Isla Verde in Carolina/San Juan, Puerto Rico. I have lived here before to work and just keep coming back. I was able to get this place by luck because of some earned airline miles I had and they chose this place for me. Lucky me! You enter and it's right off the main street on Isla Verde, the beach is right across the street, very safe, rooms and exterior areas are so nice and new. I loved the pool and outdoor area. The room service was very good as was the restaurant and bar area. The staff and General Manager were so customer service oriented, it really made it like a super vacay! I would go back anytime. I'd like to also give a shout out to the cleaning crew who are the hardest working people and so very nice. Definitely stay here, you won't regret it! read more
