The hosts (Pat and Tim) were friendly, answered questions, and treated us wonderfully. The shrimp (grilled over wood) was amazing, as were the breakfasts (eggs fresh from the on site chickens!). We (wife and I) enjoyed the hiking (I'd rate it as moderate to challenging, some of the hills are quite steep). There is a long staircase (with 'rest stops') going to the bottom of the hill. Excellent location to relax (a small stream to cross) and soak in the surroundings. If you are a bird watcher, there are many to watch and hear. It's a bit 'back to nature' - as there are no toilets/baths in the cabins (the bath house and 'outhouse' were very clean and comfy.) They are just a very short walk from the cabins. We enjoyed the place (very cozy cabin with electric heat and a wonderful view, as well as the outdoors) , the hosts, and the 'recharge' time we had, so much that we booked another weekend in May. I'm sure it will be 'all new' with the foliage and blooms popping out by that time. If you enjoy the outdoors, want to 'get away from it all', relax and come experience this little 'Peace of Earth'. ~TH

We stayed in the Carl Vrooman suite; had 3 rooms. One was "standard", with a comfortable bed, the second was a sitting room with Carl's desk and a couch; then a separate bath with clawfoot tub. Everything was very "period". It was quiet, clean, and easy access to restaurants in Bloomington. We bounced a dinner idea off Brian and he heartily agreed - and it was great! Left at 9:00 the next morning, refreshed and happy.
