I'm staying in the hotel as we speak, and I have to say it's a mixed bag. Beautiful room, friendly staff, great views, good location.... but there is a lot of fine tuning missing from making this (in my opinion) worth the money 100% First of all, the WiFi only worked for about 30min, after which my phone simply couldn't get a connection. Definitely an ISP thing, and the front desk claimed it 'doesn't work well in the rooms'. Well, seems to me the rooms are where you want WiFi, so... confusing. Second, there is a good amount of ambient noise (humming, faint traffic) that you can hear even from as high as my room is... which is near the top of the hill. Apparently some of the guests in my group were provided ear plugs, I was not. Additionally, you're likely going to see/find insects, lizards, etc in your room as some point, so be advised. Couple other things like no decaf coffee, tea, or some other common things you probably like to see provided in an expensive hotel just take away from the polish. Even the hot water in the shower is extremely slow to work... takes about 3 whole minutes for the temperature to change and the ability to adjust subtle increments is very tedious. This place has great potential, but it just isn't checking all my boxes... quite.

It's so close to town, you get free bikes, paddle boards to use. The pool is beautiful. The view from our room incredible, the room was amazing except all the BUG BITES. We stayed only one night and I am glad that is all we stayed. If we hadn't been ambushed by bug bits I'd give this place 4 stars. Also my husband and I are outdoor lovers. But I found it hard to sleep, knowing that lizards and random birds were coming in and out of the room through the opening in the roof (open concept) at night. The A.C in the room kept turning off and on, it made it super hard to sleep. That coupled with drunk guests from weddings made it hard to get a good nights rest. The room and property were amazing. Would I stay here again NEVER the BUG BITES are not a good trade off not to mentioned the rooms are $$$. I couldn't not recommend this place knowing others might be bitten alive on their stay in the beautiful city of sayulita.

Bed bug bites from Paraiso at Villa Amor

My friends and I came to Villa Amor to be bridesmaids in our friend's wedding, which was to take place at the hotel. We were very excited to stay in the Paraiso suite. Long story short, I was severely bitten by BED BUGS the first night all over my body. Another person had bites on his face. We had an MD in our group who found the bugs and confirmed the bites on my body. Once the manager, Norma, found out how bad they were, the staff at the hotel were caring. They moved us immediately and tried to assist with anything I needed. I was still very uncomfortable and definitely not looking my best to be in a wedding! The real problem came once we left Villa Amor, when dealing with the property manager, Barbara. She thought the hotel had done their due diligence by moving us and offering me medical care. In reality, they had to move us and I had an American doctor available. Most hotel businesses would compensate the customer for being inconvenienced. I did not think that was unreasonable. 1 month after my stay, I still have bite scars and no answers from the property manager. If you dare to stay here, check the beds and I hope nothing goes wrong for you!

Fish was decent but nothing exciting. The venue alone is worth the visit

Gorgeous property truly a must see. Great afternoon hangout at the beautiful bar. Very romantic to dine Oceanside with the outdoor seating and lights.

Warning: if steps aren't your thing, be careful which villa you book - ours was 95 steps up! (Good thing we packed light!) OK, now for the good: we stayed in Mar Vida, a one bedroom hut with the best views around. Seriously. We spent many hours just hanging out on our porch, reading, and watching the surfers below. We saw a Coati, which I'm still excited about... I didn't even know such an animal existed! They have room service, a restaurant on site, and incredible extras like free yoga, a spa, and free paddle board rentals! I could go on forever. I never wanted to leave.

This is a luxury boutique hotel but very different from luxury hotel standards. Let me explain. My wife and I just spent five nights here to get out of the Texas cold. We stayed in Villa Peninsula. This is the most incredible room I have ever stayed in. It does not have a TV, phone, or wifi but you will sleep open air with a 500 sq foot balcony listening to waves all night long. The town Sayulita gives you the chance to step out of your busy life , slow down and enjoy living. Do not come here expecting an American hotel, do come here to get away from your ordinary life. This room sells in the high season for around 240, compare that to Cabo and you will be a 2 g's a night.

Best customer care and hospitality ever. Karen blew us away with her attention to detail, organization and leadership with our wedding. The food here is amazing. We had the Mexican buffet and it was our favorite dinner of the week. It is presented so beautifully and isn't your ordinary Mexican buffet. The wait staff made the evening so fun! Karen is by far the best choice for your Mexico wedding.

To me there are two things that really make this hotel special- the fantastic owners and the amazing staff who are so hospitable and accommodating, and the tranquil environment. Once you come in off the street and head back to the bungalows. Also the grounds are meticulously cared for, the decor is fantastic and authentic Mexican, and the bungalows come equipped with mini fridge, coffee maker, toaster oven and microwave along with dishes, cups etc... Everyone goes above and beyond to make our stays relaxing and fun. The pool is great and usually very quiet. They also have Tommy Bahama beach chairs and umbrellas and beach towels that you can take to the beach which is a couple minute walk, so you don't have to bring any of this stuff or worry about renting it. If you're looking for a great experience give Hotel Vogue a try! They are simply the best!

First, there is the Hotel Vogue staff -- the most friendly, kind, helpful and knowledgeable staff you will find anywhere! The owner, Marv, felt like family immediately. He was so friendly and made it feel like home. The front desk staff, especially Kevin, were all so amazing and helpful with local recommendations and all round kindness. Let's not forget about Pinata...the cutest and most affectionate hotel pup you WILL EVER MEET!!! She made us smile every day and we were so happy she was constantly wagging around and giving us love. We felt so incredibly safe at Hotel Vogue. We often even found that we were leaving our bags out on our open patio for long periods of time because Hotel Vogue is so safe. They had someone at the front door always and a private security gate PLUS a coded door at night so that you always felt very safe. The facilities in this hotel are BEAUTIFUL. Everything is very clean, comfortable, spacious and you feel like you are in a private oasis when you enter. It's right in the middle of town, but you don't feel like it once you enter Hotel Vogue. The amazing plants and wildlife makes you feel like you are in a tropical paradise. The rooms are very spacious and extremely comfortable - they have made a beautiful space that is so authentic to the Mexican culture which is what we loved most. Even though the owners, Marv and Mary, are from Michigan, they have created the most authentic and beautiful space at Hotel Vogue. We cannot express how much we loved staying here for our honeymoon and NO DOUBT we will be back again! Thank you for everything Hotel Vogue!!

While we are not ones to seek luxury over experience, Avela made certain that on this trip neither had to be the choice. We were immediately greeted by the warm staff, given a tour and shown to our rooms. All questions were answered and we were left to enjoy the peace and quite the property offers just a seven-minute walk from the bustling town square. Immediately impressed with the chic room decor, the only reason we paused from admiring was that we sat on the bed and were surrounded in total comfort. The cloud-like bed, silence, and hum of the air conditioner drifted us to a post-travel little siesta. Feeling fully relaxed we headed out to the true gem of Avela, the pool area. The open design, while welcoming, feels truly like your own oasis. Comfortable chairs line the geographically gorgeous cool water refresher and a jacuzzi feature sits at either end. You can easily waste the day away in solitude or the friendly staff will prepare a delicious selection of fresh, light, cool food. The Tuna dish and guacamole are out of this world ..... and the 'chip' they use is something we can't stop talking about. Post pool day, dinner is served at any of the restaurants in town. From taco stands to high-end Italian or our MUST-DO first and last stop for pineapple & basil gelato; the quaint little town is always a fiesta and a quick and easy walk away. Overall Avela was perfect for us. Close enough to town that we could come and go at our leisure but just far enough out that it's liveliness wasn't a distraction late at night or early in the morning. Avela is also the perfect collaboration of Sayulita's art driven, surfer saturated, gypsy escape with the luxury and plush comfort of a larger resort while still keeping a very specialized approach. The third time was the charm for our visit to Sayulita as we now have a place we'll call 'home' whenever we visit.

3.5, torn between a 4 and a 3 star. I like the hotel but running out of water is a no no. Haha…read more The room is nice and roomy. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was big and everything worked great. You get bath robes as well and the AC worked well. There wasn't a TV in the room, so that kinda sucks. There's a fridge and they supply water daily. The pool was okay, didn't really have a view and there was nothing happening up at the pool. There were cabanas but no music and the pool water was very cold. The breakfast that was included was good. You get choice of egg and a meat on the eggs, some fruit and coffee. The breakfast is at the pool which is the rooftop. I enjoyed the breakfast. One thing that downgraded the hotel for me was they ran out of water for about 4 hours. They said the City occasional have water shut downs. We weren't able to shower or even go number #2 or anything. It was weird. We asked their neighboring businesses and they confirmed that yes sometimes the city run out of water but theirs was working fine today. Later we saw a truck with a huge water tank parked in front of the hotel. Also upon leaving, we booked a shuttle through Expedia and the Sayulita taxi cartel gang extorted us for money and they didn't do anything. It was right in front of their hotel and the front desk and other hotel workers were watching and didn't help us one bit. There was an argument with our shuttle driver and 3 Sayulita taxi guys about Expedia shuttle not being an approved shuttle to pick up in Sayulita. We had to pay $500 pesos to leave. I know it's not their fault but help us out a bit.

I came here with a large group (renting out most of the space), so we basically had the entire place to ourselves. That means access to 2 huge pools - one more private and one overlooking the water, the main kitchen area with a large outdoor dining/activity space, the beach on our doorsteps (chairs included), and beautiful rooms - each of which had not 1 but 2 balconies overlooking either the water or the trees. Each room also had a large bathroom, sizable kitchen area with plates, cutlery, and a coffee machine, and a living area. Pretty good for the price we paid. On the property there were tons of showers and faucets to get the sand off which was much needed since we spent a lot of time doing beach or pool activities. The hotel staff was so sweet and really made us feel safe and at home. Nelson walked around the grounds and always asked if we needed help, both day AND night. Talk about wonderful service. We ate a few meals in town, which is walking distance from the property. During the day, we walked along the beach. At night, we opted to walk through the neighborhood (we had a big group, but use your own discretion since some parts are not very well lit). Either way, it's about a 10 minute walk or 5 minute golf cart ride (you can rent one here if you'd like). If you're coming from PVR airport, an Uber ride will set you back about $40 USD, which is pretty good considering the ride itself is about 40 minutes without traffic. You can also rent a cab through the hotel but that's a bit more expensive - probably about $10 or $20 extra. Still worth it, I think. The rooms and property were pretty spotless, but we had a few instances of critters getting in, so just be mindful about leaving your windows and doors open. Everyone on the property speaks English so don't fret if you don't speak Spanish. When you check in, they'll place a $50 USD charge on your card for a beach towel (I guess people have stolen them in the past). When you check out, just hand in your towel and room key and the money will be refunded to your credit card. We really had a wonderful stay. I can't say enough good things about Casablanca Sayulita.
