We stayed at Playa Escondido Resort for a week, and this was actually our third time visiting. Every single stay has been absolutely wonderful. The staff is truly amazing and goes above and beyond to make sure every guest feels welcomed, comfortable, and happy. The rooms are beautiful, and most have incredible views that make the experience even more special. The food is outstanding, and honestly, there is no reason to ever leave the resort because everything you need is right there. The atmosphere is peaceful, relaxing, and paradise-like. We also celebrated my husband's party here with friends, and the resort did an amazing job. From the delicious food to the beautifully decorated tables, every detail was handled perfectly. I don't really want to write this review because I want to keep this gem of a resort a secret... but our experience was too good not to give this hotel the 5 stars it deserves! If you're looking for a unique hotel with character, charm, and personal touch, this is it! We enjoyed a 5 might stay in the Pasion Room with an amazing patio overlooking the water- fell to sleep each night listening to the roar of the ocean and took a shower each morning with a view of the waves! This place is quiet, serene, peaceful and perfect. The front desk staff is so friendly and accomodating and all of the restaurant/bar servers go above an beyond- especially Jesus who was never without a huge smile on his face! :) We can't wait to come back to this slice of heaven again and again! read more

This place is amazing. Where the Jungle meets the Beach. All the rooms are unique and you can hear the ocean from everyone of them. We stayed on the beach in SOL 3. We loved our 4 days here. The food and drinks were delicious. The staff was very friendly and informative. Our room was cleaned everyday. Rent a golf cart and go to Sayulita for the adventure of driving in the jungle on a cobblestone/dirt road. To us, Sayulita was crowded and more humid. Lots of shops and places to eat. You can stay at Playa Escondida as they have all the things you need. Yoga, paddleboards, kayaks, masks and snorkels, jungle hikes etc. I have already told everyone I know that this is a must place to stay. read more

It has been a few years since we were there, however the memories have not faded. Our trip was a gift to ourselves after graduation from college. When making our reservation we first made it for one week, then ten days, then we finally settled on two weeks and we were so glad we did. At both one week and ten days we said both times we would not have been ready to leave. The view was amazing, the food/chef was elegant, and the atmosphere perfect for relaxing. There was only enough room for about 40 guests, and it was miles off the beaten path, so there was privacy and peacefulness. At night we needed no sound maker to help us get to sleep (needed in the city). The crashing of the waves on the rocks below lulled is to sleep each night. read more

What an escape! We spent three days at the Playa Escondida in November. Just my husband and I. The weather was great, water amazing. But the exclusivity and vibes of the Playa itself was the best. We came after a long week of adventuring in Jalisco & really needed the time and space to unwind before heading home. Honestly didn't do much besides, eat (great food!), sleep (comfortably) and relax. The beach, pools & massages were fabulous. Yoga w Diana in the morning was much needed too. Rent a golf cart & head to Sayulita proper in minutes down a jungle road! Thank you to all the staff- We'll be back! read more

We were staying nearby and our hosts recommended the restaurant here. We were also interested in seeing if the spa was available. However when we walked by we were told non guests were not allowed in and then grilled by a rude man about where we were staying as if we were somehow lying to gain access to a restaurant. Not an easy place to find. And yes, non-guests are discouraged. I assume because of the exclusivity of the resort and the Bachelor In Paradise scene. But after a friend recommended this place to us, we had to visit while on a cruise. After explaining our situation we were let in and had a lovely lunch by the pool and had a great chat with the staff. Honestly, it made me want to come back and stay at the hotel as a guest. The setting is sublime. Sayulita is truly about as charming as a little town can be. I cannot wait to revisit this place! read more

Wow what a place. Location of the famous bachelor in paradise set. Can't say I would want to be locked in here for four weeks (If i were I would want to be able to roll into the amazing town of Sayulita) but the beauty and comfort of Playa Escondido sure is worth noting. It's literally the best. The beach is sunny and there are other beaches to the left and right you only have to climb dangerous rocks.Both of the pools are heated.They have a bunch of cool adventures you can go on, from hikes to zip lines. My fiancé and I spent a few nights at Playa escondida in January and loved every minute of it. So much better than a typical resort and I think much more relaxing! It never felt crowded because how big it is and very few kids. Multiple pools, hot tubs, great spa services, amazing attentive staff, great drinks and food. We loved it so much we actually only left for town one time! The communication via email leading up to our stay was great and responses never took longer than a couple hours. We also really appreciated that they have a wide variety of types and styles of rooms so there's something for everyone's price range. Hoping to go back!!! read more

One of the most spectacular and romantic places we have ever been. Secluded, lush tropical surroundings, great food. Right in the ocean too.

Not for senior adults. Lots of stairs with little lighting and no railings. The stairs a slick in the AM, and I wiped out. See photo, this could be you. On the way back to Texas for knee surgery. I walk 7k each Saturday in senior walking club, and this place is dangerous, be advised. read more

We grabbed a day pass, so we can't speak for the rooms. We walked from Sayulita, it took about 25 mins. But with the rest of PVR and Sayulita being so busy. This was the perfect break, quiet break. The pictures don't do it justice. The drinks are delicious and the Pacifico was perfectly chilled. After visiting, we regretted that we didn't get a room for a few days. Also it was only 100 pesos for the taxi to get into Sayulita. read more

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I would NOT recommend booking here unless you have REALLY good travel insurance. I had a family emergency come up, offered proof, etc. and they refused to refund me the $385.50 saying they have a no cancellation policy unless I wanted a credit (which they only give ($192.75). Assuming I'm not stating the obvious I can't use the credit for vacation when I'm going through very serious emergency. I gave more than amply notice for them to be able to book the room and they wouldn't budge or show me an ounce of sympathy or help here. Really disappointing considering they advertise themselves as a yoga community to be so unfair and unprofessional to someone going through a hard time that could not help the circumstances. Even if I ever have the opportunity to ever visit this beautiful country I will NOT be giving Playa Escondida my business. read more

This review is long overdue... We got married at Playa Escondida in October and cannot say enough about the staff and resort! Beyond friendly, informative, accommodating with every request, fun, easy-going, plus the food was amazing...the list could go on and on. We had the entire resort for our guests and every person had nothing but wonderful things to say about their experience. Everyone felt comfortable and very much taken care of. PRECIO ESCONDIDO should be the name of this hotel--hidden price tag. Reminiscent of the Eagle's song, Hotel California, you are captive here, so when booking, think carefully about the number of days you can stand confined to hobbit size and shaped warrens with no mosquito nets, made of concrete instead of native palm to trap in heat, with no cross ventilation and no air conditioning. At night you need a flashlight to supplement the 25 watt bulbs management insists is to deter mosquitoes. The fact that the owners won't pay more for your electricity should give you a clue as to the "resort's" finances. They will charge for everything they can. The food at the only restaurant is mediocre and not really Mexican. The pool is small compared to internet photographs, though the three-person infinity hot tub is indeed breathtaking, the beach windy, the waves, rocky and a little rough. Our small child got an ear infection from the dirty pool water, was covered, like his new friend, in welts from mosquito and other bites and had a fever for half of our stay. Perhaps the insufferable experience in the rooms colored our view of this hotel, but proceed with caution. read more
