So, I just want to share an "experience".....I won't go into all the detail as it would end up an "essay"......I booked a table for dinner some months back at "Casa Kimberly". We dined there last year and were captivated by the historical significance of the property. When I booked, I asked for a balcony side table if they could. They have a first come first seated policy, even if you make a reservation, however, I asked because, why not. Last week before we even arrived in PV, "on a whim" I booked a room to stay for the night, a surprise for my partner. I once again reached out about our dinner request and was told, no problem sir, you're an in-house guest. They only have 9 rooms total. At check-in, another impulse, we upgraded to the "Liz Taylor" suite. Mind blowingly gorgeous, the best suite in the place & $,$$$$ but hey, the history. Once again confirmed my request for our dinning table. Once again, of course Sir. So we arrive 5mins early for our dinner to be shown the last table at the very back of the restaurant. Umm.....this did not sit well with me. To keep it short I went down and spoke with the GM of the place to be told, so what, you get what your given!! This set me off my nut, I absolutely let this women have it in no uncertain terms......30 minutes later the host of the restaurant had a table, as asked, ready......the night was ruined, I was livid to have been treated with utter contempt by this obviously incompetent manager who could not of cared less....and, it's not over yet, y any means. The rest of the staff and the service was wonderful throughout the whole stay. This one manager just ruined the whole experience. I am not sure I would ever go back and I certainly would not recommend the to anyone. @casakimberly

On a recent trip to Puerto Vallarta we came to Casa Kimberly. We wanted to try a restaurant that was more special. You can't get any more special than this. We made reservations through OpenTable. This restaurant definitely has an air of romance and it is very scenic over the hills of Vallarta. We started with two cocktails one a simple margarita with the house tequila without salt and the second was a martini iguana a house favorite. These drinks were very booze forward but delicious. We opted for the squash blossom appetizer which was filled with cheese and served over a piece of fried Oaxaca cheese. We also opted for a salad option the salad was very bright and fresh with a very light mustard dressing which was quite good. After days of eating tacos and other Mexican fair we were finally happy to have something different. We opted for the pork shank which is quite like an ossobucco where the meat falls off the bone serve with an assortment of diced vegetables. I chose a steak option which was served with baked potato and green beans. I really was hoping for a baked potato however the potato that was served was more like a boiled potato that was scored in four. I chalk this up to maybe just a Mexican Spanish translation. Aside from that the meal was very good had good flavor and was definitely a break from standard Mexican fare. We finished dinner with two dessert options one the whipped goat cheese with an orange glaze and the second was a chocolate tart which was quite decadent. The chocolate tart was the opposite of the light goat cheese. Both were very good. We had a second round of drinks to top off the night. One thing to note is the service at this restaurant is impeccable. There was never any wait the waiter was always within 5 feet of our table and ready to help. All in all the meal was $200 that includes gratuity this is definitely an affordable special meal when you come to Mexico. It's also a bonus when you get to eat in the house that Richard Burton purchased for Elizabeth Taylor.

Arrived early which was a great thing to walk around before our RSVP and enjoy the beautiful place. Staff very attentive, we didn't have to point out that the sun was hitting us, and they were already adjusting the shades. Food great taste and portions.

We visited the bar at this beautiful home that was used in making the movie the night of the iguana. It's been converted into a hotel, restaurant and bar with beautiful decorations and excellent service. While we only visited the bar we were very pleased and would happily go back anytime for dinner.

The pictures online don't do this place justice - it's absolutely stunning! My husband and I stayed in the Elizabeth Taylor suite this past week and it was the most incredible hotel room I've ever stayed in. It was so clean and the decor was just so luxurious. We spent 90% of our time in the pool and jacuzzi and has almost all of our meals out on the private terrace. Apart from the room the staff was phenomenal. From housekeeping to the concierge, we truly felt like we were being valued and cared for. They knew when to refill our water and get us new robes and where to put the towels - I don't know how but things were just magically happening when we needed them to. The concierge team did a great job setting up dinner reservations and even travel excursions for us even after we checked out of the hotel. The spa services are also super worth it. Because the suite is like 5 times the size of my apartment back home, we made sure to rarely leave it. We had them do our massages in the bathroom and it was so wonderful. I wasn't overly enthused with the Iguana restaurant but it was still pretty good. I just don't think I would go out of my way for the food. Overall, the hotel is amazing and I would highly recommend staying here during your time in PV. The neighborhood is a bit sleepy but personally I'm glad it's away from all the traffic and crowds. It's not a far walk into the main part of the city (5-10 min depending on where you're going) and the views of the mountains and Banderas Bay are beautiful. Highly recommend staying at this historic hotel! You will not regret it!

Casa Kimberly came highly recommended for special occasions and celebrations. Stunning boutique hotel and restaurant which was former home/mansion to Elizabeth Taylor. The views of the city/coast line are simply breathtaking. We had the angus filet and grilled Cornish hen. Our server recommended a tasty Cabernet Sauvignon from valle De Guadalupe. To end our dinner we treated ourselves with the chocolate mousse paired with Elizabeth's Taylor's signature chocolate martini. They graciously welcome you to walk around the patios to see the beautiful property. I highly recommend Casa Kimberly for their delicious fine dining experience with amazib and spectacular service.

REVIEW #200! Well, for my 200th review I could not have picked a better place for dinner. This was by far the finest meal "experience" in Puerto Vallarta for me. If you go to only one place for dinner, this place is it. A full tequila bar, nice wine list, impeccable service, amazing view of PV, and the best Mariachi band around ( Mariachi La Joya de Mexico..I bought their cd they were so fantastic. They are rated one of the top Mariachi bands in all of Mexico and I can hear and see why tonight! ). This is a fine dining experience, 4 diamond AAA rated hotel. The food here has Mexico incorporated into a great international menu and the building itself which once housed Elizabeth Taylor is stunning in architecture and decor including a huge mural of Elizabeth. To start we had some cocktails. I had the Coco Margarita which was one of the best margaritas I have ever had in Mexico. Subtle coconut flavor coats the mouth with a nice sweet finish of the tequila. Refreshing and unique this was fantastic. As the drinks were served we received our basket of hot fresh sourdough bread that rivaled that of San Francisco, CA and that's not easy! For starters we shared the Squash Blossom which was stuffed with requeson cheese and poblano chiles, but not spicy. This was set on a block of panko crusted panel cheese with a black bean and pablano sauce. A very creative dish with various textures of crisp tempura, and soft cheese with a secondary crunch from the panko. 5 stars. Next we had the Iguana salad which was several types of lettuce with goat cheese and candied walnuts. Perfectly dressed with a vinegegrette dressing, this was a great refreshing salad. 5 stars. For the main entrees we picked the bone in Filet Mignon and the rack of lamb. The filet, cooked rare as requested, was the best piece of meat in PV. Extremely tender and full of massive flavor (which you usually don't get out of a filet), this dish was fantastic. If you like steak, this is not to be missed. Served with au gratin potatoes and Nopale (cactus) that was very flavorful, everything with this dish matched perfectly. The second dish was the rack of lamb cooked medium rare. This was one of the best rack of lamb dishes I have had anywhere. Served with jalapeño mashed potatoes (OMG!) and roasted eggplant, this was an incredible meal. I paired the filet with a heavy Pinot from Argentina, and picked out a Malbec from Mexico which was perfect with the rack. For dessert we had the chocolate tart which was dark and white chocolate. It was very dense, creamy as silk, and was perfect with my Hacienda Coffee which was coffee, whip cream and tequila. I liked this better than the typical "Mexican"coffee. There is no fire involved like the Mexican coffee but it was fantastic with the crystallized sugar rim. We also had the chile infused chocolate mousse. This creamy chocolate dessert fills your senses with rich chocolate, fiollowed by a slight warmth from the chili infusion but not spicy. This chef really knows how to add flavor without spice from chilies and peppers. The service here was the best of anywhere in PV and rivaled many of the places I have eaten at in the U.S. Well dressed, very attentive and friendly, they make sure your dining experience is great. We were seated at the best table in the house on the outer edge with views of the city to the hills to the ocean. 5 stars and 6 Diamonds (Ritz Carleton would have stiff competition if they were in PV!) The song for this review #200 has to be Frank Sinatra's "They Say It's Wonderful" (and this place really is wonderful),

Fast forward a couple months later, we're here and trying it out.... First off, location is AMAZING. Literally right in the heart of the Romantic Zone. Everything is literally footsteps and minutes away. You have the beach a few minutes walk down. As well as the well known Los Muertos Pier. Restaurant one after the other next door to you and across the street. Not only that, bars are all walking distance. Either at the corner or half a block away. Even though it's central to everything, it wasn't crazy noisy. Check in was a breeze. We got dropped off with uber. It's a one way street so it made it simple but parking is tricky there if you're driving. Right when you walk in, that's where you'll be greeted with the beautiful color crochet canopy. We arrived early and were offered early check in and late check out with our booking status. Not only that, we were offered two rooms to choose from and to top it off. A beautiful welcoming with a bottle of wine. Property is pretty much lined with plants and flowers surrounding the area. I believe it's three maybe four level. There is a pool, it's small but does the trick for a boutique hotel. Sun lounges around it as well as on an upper deck for sunbathing. There's a massive mango tree that's right in front and does offer fruits which are left out for anyone to take. Check in was a breeze, with the sweet lady that was working. They do have a lock and safe box in front private room. It was 300 peso deposit and you receive it after you return the ticket slip at end of visit. Same as beach towels, believe it was 200 pesos deposit. Room itself, pretty basic as it's a boutique hotel. Affordable which was nice. They had Airbnb similar but this visit we didn't want to have to do everything ourself. Hence a hotel with housekeeping. Big king size bed with a sofa/futon. Bathroom was basic with a shower. Sink was small. It does need some renovation but did the trick. You have complimentary toiletry which was just basic. There wasn't an iron, blow dryer or safe in room. Traditional Hispanic vibes decorated the room. There's of course ac and a small tv mounted to the wall near ceiling. You're able to connect to your streaming channels from your phone. We did have to figure out how to change the language preferences. Overall, rooms do need some updating. Property was beautiful with all the lush plants and flowers. Courtyard with the beautiful colorful canopy and tables outside. Decent pool for lounging, it's not that deep. There's a community fridge and kitchen area. Power did go out for a bit which left the tv unable to come on but we were heading out for the evening. Minor glitch. There is construction a couple doors down but didn't bother us as we were out majority of the day. And a restaurant literally right next door for breakfast and lunch. Would I stay again, yes. It's a nice friendly affordable place. Perfect location for everything. Had all the necessity, safe which can be utilized in private room at the lobby. I'm sure dryer and iron can be brought up to room. But the stay was great.

Such a deal as it was in a quiet residential neighborhood but within easy walking distance to popular restaurants and bars as well as the Malecon. For three nights, we stayed on the second floor in the purple and gray Korvette room which had a comfortable Queen bed and a nice balcony overlooking the river. It was a bucolic woodsy setting with birds chirping and the sporadic rumble of motor scooters below us. The entire hotel was decorated to the hilt with eccentric bric-a-brac that must surely reflect the eclectic taste of the owner. The hotel's homey vibe extended even to the house cat who had its own Victorian brass bed. We took advantage of the complimentary margaritas available upon arrival. But after seeing some of the mixed feedback now, I was honestly surprised. It seems like this place can be very hit or miss. Thankfully for us, it was definitely a hit. We were there for three nights, and overall had a great experience. Our main complaint would be the food, which we found to be mediocre overall, though there were definitely a couple of standouts. Next time, I'd skip the buffet except for the freshly made stations, which were the only part consistently worth it. We really enjoyed the teppanyaki at Tamari, and the fish and shrimp tacos from Blaze were so good we had them twice during our stay. On the other hand, dinner at Blaze was unremarkable and we were disappointed with the pizza and zeppole from Melanzane, though we didn't get to try anything else there. I do wish we had stayed an extra night or two to explore more of the dining options, though based on what we experienced, we may not have missed out on too much. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful. Special shoutout to Rafael at the club lounge bar and Lizbeth at reception - both were a pleasure and made our stay even more enjoyable. I was also surprised by the size of the gym and the variety of equipment. I made sure to get at least one workout in and really appreciated the incredible ocean views while doing so. We visited in February and never felt like the resort was overcrowded. In fact, some restaurants seemed surprisingly empty at times. One thing worth noting: they have pickleball courts and a basketball court, which we didn't see advertised anywhere. We would've packed our pickleball gear had we known, but fortunately they provide equipment you can borrow. They also offer activities throughout the day - we mostly enjoyed the evening bar shows. I'd definitely recommend downloading their app to keep track of the schedule and access other helpful hotel information like menus. Overall, this was a very enjoyable stay and a strong positive experience for us. I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because the dining experience didn't quite match the rest of the resort. While the food could be more consistent, the friendly staff, beautiful setting, amenities, and relaxed atmosphere made it a memorable stay.
